We booked into this hotel for a 2 night stay just after New Year's 2018. The hotel was very expensive - $450 a night - but my partner and I decided to go for it since it was only for a couple of nights and had just come off a terrible experience at another hotel in Victoria - we needed a bit of luxury! On the positive side: The hotel is in a great location and the rooms have outstanding views over the beach. There are plenty of great eating places within a few hundred yards of the hotel, and it's convenient to the ferry terminal on the harbor side. Cannot fault the hotel for it's location and convenience. Check-in staff were friendly, as was the concierge. Unfortunately after arriving late on the first night (9pm) we went to the room (which faced the beach on the second floor), which at first seemed extremely hot (~ 32 degrees C) and stuffy. We noticed that the a/c was on but the light was illuminated for "Heat" instead of a/c, so we fiddled with the thermostat for around 20 mins before deciding to go out for dinner (we'd been traveling all day). After returning from dinner around an hour later, the room was still in the mid-30s, so we contacted reception. The concierge came to the room, and said "I hope this trick works, which it sometimes does" - turning the fuse off for 30 seconds and then back on - which worked. She also mentioned that "everyone wants to use their a/c full blast all the time" - not unreasonable as it was in the high 30s outside during the day and high 20s at night? Content, we went to bed, but around 1am awoke sweating - the thermostat had again switched from "cool" to "heat" and was actually blowing hot air into the room. So we tried the trick with the fuse again and again, but this time it wouldn't go back to cool. Opening the door to the outside verandah wasn't an option since there were large signs saying it would attract flying insects (and there were mosquitoes around). We sweltered in horrible heat through the night. The next morning reception agreed to move us to another room as some had opened up - which was welcome but there was no offer of compensation for the sleepless night. The new room had functional a/c and was clean. It's clear that the a/c in the hotel needs updating badly. I know it's not commonplace in Australia/Sydney to have a/c, but at $450 a night we felt it should have at least worked. If incidents like this happen in the future, the hotel should definitely comp guests a night's tariff or provide some other compensation.
Staff were great. Room had beautiful view. Very expensive though for ocean view room in summer but worth it for one night. Pool needs a lot more deck chairs. Bed was so comfortable and pillows. Beautiful view. Didn’t want to leave.
Great location and the staff were lovely and accommodating however the hotel is dated and average on cleanliness. The toilets in the foyer were of "public toilet appearance". The sanitary bins were overflowing, paper towel spread throughout the toilets and faeces on the stone top of the vanity. The soap dispensers were also empty, so if you have an outbreak of influenza you know where it started. The toilets were like this throughout our three days at the hotel. I will attach photos for you to peruse. On our last day we arrived back at our room after finishing our breakfast at 11.03am to collect our bags (3 minutes after checkout) to find that we had been locked out of our room, we then had to find a staff member to let us back in to our room to collect our bags (this was inconvenient). Value for money? Our stay at the hotel cost approx $550 per night for a small room with two double beds and no view. Value for money not really. Would i stay again? Only if i had no other option. Giving you honest feedback so you know what you're up for.
We stayed 2 nights and won't be back or recommend this hotel. We are member of the Club Accor and stayed in several hotels of the group in France and Australia : this is the first time we were happy to leave the hotel ! 1) you can't pre-booked a parking bay before arriving !!! and they cannot 100% guarantee availabilities before you actualy check-in ! and you are charged $40/day. 2) rooms are really tired : huge (!) disgusting stain on the carpet in front of the sliding door to our terrace. Couldn't avoid it. 3) the housekeeping team of our floor left the lift area/corridor in a terrible shape from 11am to 5pm !!!! (see photo) 4) breakfast = average for $35 Overall, desappointed by our stay, included the staff as I reported the problem with the housekeeping, been told they were replenishing the mini bar... and asked me to send the photo. Since December 27th 5pm no email/answer from them... even on check out...
Although not the cheapest we were very happy with this hotel. It’s a little bit rough around the edges in places but that didn’t bother us as we appreciated that we are paying for the location. The location is fantastic and is perfect for those who want to be close to the beach. It is also just a 5 minute stroll to the wharf. The staff were all very friendly and particularly good with our two boys- sometimes even playing football with them in the foyer. There are buckets and spades, boogie boards etc that can be borrowed free of charge to take to the beach. The rooftop pool is also a great facility. If we ever come back to Sydney and I hope we will, we would definitely stay here again.
I love this hotel! The first time I stayed here I hated where my room was, we were facing the back of the building that has the rooms facing the water. I thought I would save money by not including breakfast.. big mistake! The second time I booked a room with a balcony facing the ocean and included breakfast. I adore all the staff here including reception, the valet boys and even the housekeeping girls. The rooms are just what you need! Amazing location and couldn’t get enough of the vibe. Close to the beach and shops and a variety of different cafes and restaurants. Do yourself a favour and get a membership with Accor to enjoy some benefits! I will stay here again soon!!
Love staying at the Novotel Manly/ be it business or pleasure. Restaurant is always good- food and service! Front bar is always busy and a great place to wind down with a glass of wine and enjoy the sea views. Front of house staff always pleasant and eager to help. Rooms are getting a little tired now, although if you're booking pay a little extra for the ocean view. Well worth the money. Close to local restaurants and shops. Literally a two minute walk. Manly ferry is about a 10 minute walk. Enjoy a stroll on the beach which is directly opposite the hotel.
I have been to many good Novotel Hotels. The one in Manly is most disappointing. The hotel urgently needs renovation, the carpets in the whole hotel smell terribly, the rooms furniture and the bathrooms are outdated and offer no comfort. The view (if you have a sea side room) is nice but there is a lot of noise from the street and the bar/restaurant. They have no matrasses for the deckchairs on the balconies, so they are much to hard and uncomfortable to lay on them. The laundry came back a day to late (it was simply forgotten). The personnel is friendly and the breakfast buffet is ok. But overall, it is not worth the money, completely overpriced and I would never stay there again
Premier location. I stayed in Room 527 (Superior Room Oceanview 1 King Bed), (See Photos). The hotel itself has been here for a long time, there are extensions and my room has obviously been renovated beautifully as one might expect for ocean view. There is a rooftop pool with a Jacuzzi, overlooking the beach. There are also excellent conference facilities, private meeting rooms and, banqueting areas. There is a restaurant on the ground floor level which overlooks the beach and the opposite end of the lobby there is a more casual bar and eating area periods. Guess can enjoy all the facilities to expect from the ACCOR chain.
The Novotel at Manly Pacific is a fantastic location, the ocean view rooms with balconies are amazing. The king bed would have to be one of the best I have ever slept on. I would definitely return here again. Walking distance to the beach, great spots to eat and a bar downstairs.
