I travelled here for my final couple of days at my favourite beach In Australia. The receptionist was great and couldn't do enough to help. Unfortunately the concierge desk was mostly unavailable during our trip. The room was comfortable, however a little dated with the paint peeling and the shower pressure kept dropping when you least expected it. One warning for travellers is the bar closed quite early at 10.30pm. When we left the concierge ordered us a shuttle to the airport which did no turn up, we ended up jumping in a taxi. On the positive side a great welcome, with a complimentary fruit bowl, rubber ring for the kids, bottle of wine and most importantly this hotel is in a great location with great views.
Location sensational. Valet parking great. Foyer lovely. Buffet breakfast was extensive and of really high quality. The breakfast area needed a good clean. All of the surfaces were a bit grimey and hadn’t been dusted in quite some time by the appearance. Beds were comfortable, linen ok. Bathroom had some mould and the bottom of the bathroom door was swollen and split from water damage. For over $300 per night, I’m not sure the Novotel was good value
The hotel is big, nice rooms, very clean, has access to a fully equipped gym and across the road from the beach. However, 3 attempts were needed to get keys that actually opened the hotel door. A little frustrating when all you want to do at 10pm is crash out. Also on another night, we were drinking at the bar and it randomly shut up shop, no last drinks were called.
I am a HOSPITALITY student studying abroad for the semester in Manly and my mother came to visit. I am sadden to say that i was not only dissapointed, but disgusted in the hotel's cleanliness. Walking through the halls to get to my room looked like a college dorm. The room was average, but walking into the bathroom we immediatley spotted hair in the bathtub, mold in the shower and after one minute of trying to use the hair dryer, it started smoking, sparked and shut off. The next night I noticed there was a band-aid stuck to my sheet, neither of which was mine or my mothers. I was disgusted as I knew i slept with it there the night before as well. The housekeeper did not get around to cleaning our room until 3:30pm one day, and was apologising greatly because she had so many check outs that had to be done before she could even eat her lunch. The poor lady has been working since god knows how early in the morning and STILL was not able to eat lunch at 3:30pm because all of her rooms were not clean. As a hospitality student, that shows very poor management in the housekeeping staff and that they are given too many rooms to clean in such little time. I believe no-body should have to work under those conditions. To top it all off...it is 2018, and to be completely honest, I did not know hotels had the audacity to still charge for wifi. $10 a day. As my mother paid alot of money and time to travel half way across the world to spend time with me,this was her first, and most likely last time in Australia. I could see it in her face that she was not happy with the Novotel meeting its standards and was dissapointed in her choice of stay. The staff were very friendly and nice, they took care of us. However the Manly Novotel is too overly priced for the level of cleanliness and building up-keep.
How in the year 2018 do we get charged €10 per day for Wifi in a developed country from an international group of hotels? This should be included in room rate. Breakfast only average for the cost. Should be much better. Clearly not enough competition in Manley.
The hotel location is great. But this is all the hotel has got going for it. Check in is ok but what they don’t tell you is that you will pay $10 a day for WiFi even though they say if you member of club it’s free.. was allocated room on 5th floor so we took lift to that floor when the door opened the stench hit you it’s awful. The area outside the lift is dark and dingy much like Alcatraz. The rooms don’t get any better it’s the same smell in there it’s just awful. There are a limited number of coat hangers in the wardrobe. What ever you do don’t put anything on the floor as it will get damp very quickly. The ocean views are ok but there are lots of trees in the way
Stayed in a deluxe queen twin room with my husband and child. Overall the room was clean and spacious. Had everything you would expect with a balcony. The reason I gave it 3 out of 5 was because of room service. They delivered the wrong child meal twice and by the time they. Got it right, an hour and a half later, my child was asleep. The hotel did however reimburse us the costs of our room service on check out.
Arrived from Melbourne for the Easter weekend wonderful stay our room was a Superior Room Ocean View. It was exactly that, beautiful views of Manly beach, glass doors that open out on the Balcony. Our room was very clean with all amenities, King bed very comfortable, Open deck pool with ocean views. Buffet breakfast was a bit busy could have had a little bit more variety of fresh fruits and pastries.. staff were very friendly and helpful gave us a late check out till 1pm and overall I will be coming back to the Novotel again next family visit.. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable Regards Lorraine
We stayed here of easter and were disappointed after paying premium for the stay to be hit with a $40 a night surcharge for parking which we were not told about. After negotiating it down to $40 for three nights which was still ridiculous given we paid over 700 per night we agreed. We arrived at 1.30pm for a 2pm check in and where not given a room till 2.35pm. This too was disappointing . Despite a disappointing start we had a wonderful weekend mainly due to thy location. Service at checkin were rude but other than that room was clean and serviced daily which was nice. Hotel does need some TLC. Breakfast was costly and most foods were cold but plenty of beautiful cafes to choose from. All in all it was a great stay but Hotel and service do need a little improving to justify charging premium.
Have stayed here over many years but now I could quite confidently say that the rooms, restaurant, public areas and reception area need a much needed make over. The room sizes are good. I’ve just stayed in a standard 2 queen bed room. Security needs upgrading. Anyone can walk from the street through reception to the lift and straight up to any floor. In fact you can walk into the car park from the street and straight up to any floor. Of course, you cannot beat the location right opposite the beach, however, this should not excuse the Novotel for not investing in the standard of the rooms. It is like a 2-3 star hotel.
