We stayed here as we had to visit St Vincent's. The hotel was easy to get to and exactly what we expected. It was clean and quiet if a little tired. We organised a late check in which was very easy. Plenty of space in the room and the kitchen was stocked with enough items for two people to make a meal.
A well laid out room with good spacing for mini kitchen, roomy bathroom and comfortable sleeping and work areas. Ground level room with pokey, but adequate enclosed courtyard for a tiny view. Great location in terms of transport and shops.
The price was okay given the central location. Downstairs were lots of coffee shops providing wonderful breakfast. It was also close to bus stops and underground stations. Our room was big with a huge bed, wardrobe, TV and even a small kitchen! Though we didn't have a chance to cook with the stove, the sink and the kettle was already good enough for our stay.
Contrary to the other reviews we found this place very clean. The location as others have pointed out is quite colourful but that's all part of the fun. Our room was certainly clean and tidy, but a bit tired. A number of tiles in the bathroom were cracked, some of them had been painted and that was flaking off. The decor was likewise clean and serviceable, but older. Other than that, it had everything you could have asked for.
We stayed here overnight in readiness for a hospital visit to st. Vincents hospital. Great location but we lost all power at about eight thirty. Rang the front desk and was told to check the circuit board myself . When I explained the room was pitch dark a young woman came with a torch. She Isolated the fridge as faulty. Asked us to go without. Clearly she knew there was already a problem. The safety case around the switchboard had already been removed ! After all this we boiled the kettle, made a cup of tea and added the milk. Yuck - UHT milk was way out of date, 3rd March - we were staying on the 18th! I complained at the desk on departure and the young man on the desk said I could have some more milk! Lot of use when I was leaving! No apology, no offer of a discount for our problems. Never again.
I found the Hotel very comfortable ,the staff helpful when I needed to extend my stay unexpectedly. Perfect location when attending St Vincent's Hospital, many Cafes and restaurants close by easy walk to Kings Cross Station
This hotel is in a convinient location (although very seedy) and provides very good sized rooms for the price, and I'm not expecting the Ritz here but seriously!? It was FILTHY! There was mould stained all over the bath and black mould on the shower curtains which stick to you when you shower so thats lovely! The tiles are mouldy, everything is just blegh in the bathroom! The kitchenette was tragic, falling off hinges and filthy inside every inch of is - I suspect cleaners simply wipe down the counter and sink and that is all. The carpet was scratchy old dirty stuff and all the fabric furniture hadnt been updated for like 30 years !! It was stinky and musty and every time u sit on any of it u feel GROSS!! The bed cover was putrid. There is no good reason for this. Just clean it! Do some minor updates! We left a day early and the staff was rude on the way out - we asked for the money back for the day we didnt stay telling him about the mould and he looked at us with such contempt and just shrugged and rolled his eyes. This place needs to find someone to start caring for it.
Into Sydney for a few days on a short break. Good location couple of minutes from Kings Cross station. Plenty of things locally to do with pubs and a whole host of places to eat. The accommodation was ok, small living area with bedroom and ensuite. Very functional and clean and tidy. I would not describe as 4star as a bit shabby and basic . Nothing to make it particularly special and unique. Would stay again as functional and close to good links.
Stayed here solo for over a week in Sydney. I loved the location. 10-15min walk to the gardens, 20min walk to Mrs. Macquaire's chair, coffee, gym, and supermarket all within a block. The hotel is dirty. The bathrooms need to be gutted. Mold on the shower floor, visible cracks and dirt and needs dusting. I had to ask for them to change the bedding- you could tell it does not see a washer. However, I stayed here during the Xmas-New Years high season. So for the $$ i paid during the busiest time of year..it was ok. For a solo female traveler-on a budget, during xmas season.... I felt safe the entire time. Ask for a high floor in the back though.
Location is fantastic, right at the doorstep of kings cross and surrounds. Hotel itself is very tired and could do with some TLC, cracked tiles dripping taps etc. Room size was good, kitchenette added space. Fresh air as widows opened!
