I booked a room here when we had to go into town for my work Christmas party. It was cheaper to stay here than to get an Uber to and from Darlinghurst. So I thought why not make a weeks d if it. We o it live 20.minutes from Darlinghurst. Yes the room was a bit shabby but the bed was super comfortable and the shower was hot and strong. The room was very clean but it did have that slightly musty smell of old hotel rooms. The night manager was really great he was friendly and courteous. The hotel is a stone's throw from the main drag. We went to the markets on Saturday, and had breakfast, great food and coffee. We will definitely stay here again for a short stay.
When my friends and I checked into Lido Suites King Cross (Sydney Australia) on November 17, 2017 we were very upset with the terrible customer service and hotel condition (old, cracked and dirty room). We saw bugs on the sink, fridge, washroom and lots of cracks on the walls, windows and it was a nightmare! The pictures and reviews on Booking.com was completely different from real life! It was not clean, safe, and customer service was terrible! I have travelled all around the world and booked hostels, motels and hotels and never imagined paying $275/night for this trash! We asked the front desk manager to change our rooms, and she mentioned it was sold out and that she can clean the bugs with a bug spray. It took her 1hr before she came to the room with the bug spray. We wanted a full refund and they said to contact Booking.com. We called and emailed Booking.com but they didn’t respond to us, instead only refunded the second night after we had sent 10 emails and phoned Booking.com at 8am the next day. This was my first trip to Sydney and the hotel has caused us stress, frustration and we had to change our itinerary! In conclusion please issue me a full credit card refund for our entire booked stay. Should you not comply within 2 weeks, we will each publish separate negative reviews on your site and tripadvisor, Expedia and all the social platforms etc. Please resolve our dissatisfaction asap!
Average budget friendly hotel in King Cross Station area, the good side is its appliances, TV, Aircon, fridge, microwave, hot shower and electric pot. Bad side old elevator and cigarette smell when I checked in.
Unfortunately I had to stay one night at this place on a conference trip. The room had been booked by our group secretory and had paid about 240$ for one night. when I arrived I couldn't believe that they had charged us 240$ for such an old and dirty place. The room didn't look like the photos that they have on some booking websites. Very old furniture and too dirty. I had to kill about 10 cockroaches in the room and bathroom in few hours that I stayed there. I took some photos that I will try to upload them.
This hotel is in the 'red light' distract...good few characters sleep rough nearby so a bit intense if you arrive late at night. Discovered a cockroach in the bathroom the first night and kind of said.. ah it could of come in the window.... on the 3rd day... moved the kettle and they all exploded out from underneath it and hid under the piece of wood behind the kitchen counter.. you can see them in the photo attached... How could a cleaner miss this? the only answer could be they barely clean the rooms at best. Main light in the room looks like someone died in it... I can literally see no explanation for why or how someone could let out a room in this state... Avoid like the plague .... Staff on front desk we're friendly but that's not enough to save this place...
This place was absolutely awful !! It was damp dirty and very noisy as lift kept going up and down all night in the bed walk of our room ! It looked nothing like the photos and we were VERY disappointed!! Never would stay there again and it needs to be checked by authorities!!!!!
In April me and my husband made our reservation by phone on the road a few hours before arriving there. We had late check in. just before check in , the night manager told us that we have to pay everyday for the car park. I said " we have a limited budget, it might be hard to afford that money every day and we didn't know this problem, can we cancel our reservation? " Oh my God after I said this the night manager became so aggressive and told us he will kick us to the street without a refund our money. I was shocked with the behavior. Because at least he could kindly say no instead treating us as beggars. I really scared with his behavior he was obviously on drugs as well. We couldn't do anything at that moment because we went to Sydney for attending a spiritual program which was going to start the next morning and it was late enough. Also after a long drive we didn't want trouble, all we need was a sleep. We accepted. The day after he wanted more money with the same behavior and said that he calculated something wrong. When I asked the reason he again said " I can give your check out and you can leave now" That was a really terrible experience. We were going to hotel just late at nights after our spiritual program and leaving the hotel early in the morning again. We had just few hours to sleep that was the reason we couldn't bother to call police or finding another solution. Other hotel workers are all so kind an lovely! The blonde girl in the reception did her best to help us which we really appreciated. That night manager is really not normal, he looks like a drug dealer more than a hotel manager!!!!
Hotel was only needed for some where to get ready and sleep. for the price, it was good enough. The room could have been a bit cleaner, and a shower door would be good as water took over the bathroom floor. The hotel is close to everything in the cross, parking was a short walk away. Noise wasn't an issue. Staff friendly. Good size kitchenette, however one plate I grabbed had mould. Would stay again if it was just some where to sleep.
Over all I was very happy with this hotel. It was very cheap room, clean, tidy, conveniently located to kings cross (don't let the reputation put you off), KIngs cross train station, supermarkets and shops. Bed was comfy, bathroom was of good size, clean and heaps of hot water. Very friendly staff. Free internet. Laundry on roof top level with good views. I would stay here again
