Central Railway Hotel

The hotel is convenient to local amenities in Redfern and to public transport to get downtown quickly. The rooms are clean and neat with comfortable beds. Despite being at the front of the hotel, traffic noise was not a problem at night. We have enjoyed our stays and have recommended the Central Railway Hotel to friends visiting Sydney.

Location is 15 mins walk from central station, considered far as we have heavy luggages to move. And it was raining constantly, hence, it was a stretch. Staffs were helpful. Accomodation was great. Just that family studio we stayed in was on 4th story, we had a hard time carrying luggages up. Will be gd if theres lift. But staffs were nice to give us a hand. Aircon was leaking.

The two ladies who work at the reception desk are a joy to meet. They are happy, bubbly and very helpful. The hotel itself, though could use some improvement. All of the windows in my room were frosted, which means that I could not see out of them. I was sick while I was there and after three days of not being able to see out, I was a bit batty. The windows do have sun and blackout shades, so I would have appreciated clear windows. The carpet always felt damp. There were loud noises from the neighborhood and honking to get into the underground parking. The shower head was very good. The bed was firm. Luckily, my room was on the main floor and the reception ladies carried my bag up the steps in front of the hotel, which was very much appreciated by this senior traveler.

To fit foyer light to improve security image as the entrance lighting were dim so as the neighbouring building on the street . It is essential for older visitor with bigger luggage to have a ramp for raise entrance with flight of stairs. However, as mentioned it require some thinking as the entrance is located close to the pedestrian path next to the road. Need to eliminate the danger of runaway luggage. Lastly the hotel may require to cater slightly firm beds for oldie as the beds of ours were too soft.

Easy walk from central station charmers st exit, nice staff, clean room, good shower. Overall good value would recommend it & stay here again. Stayed overnight for Springsteen concert so was easy commute from airport & out to Olympic park for concert. Walked from central to hotel after concert & felt quite safe as the street was well lit & still plenty of people around late at night.

I stayed here recently on my short break to Sydney. First of all, it's like a motel- rooms are basic, run down, and no lift. I can't believe this is even a 3 star to Australian standards. Comparing this to the UK/Europe it's no more than 2 stars. The pros: Lady at reception in the pink shirt was very friendly. Location is good, safe and only a 10 minute walk from Central station, plenty of cafes and a Woolies nearby. My cafe recommendations are le monde, tea and bean (coffee and filled bagel for 10 dollars to take away, and chalmers street cafe. Good wifi signal Cons: creeky doors, AC just so many random noises at night (I'm not even a light sleeper). The windows and falls are incredibly thin, you can hear the Tv if it's on next door, or people talking outside your room late at night. The worst bit- Saturday night, could not sleep until 3am due to a party outside (like I said I'm not a light sleeper). The whole building and room are very run down, it looks like something from 1970. Would not stay again.

The hotel doesn't look great from the outside, so I was a bit worried when we first arrived. We got a very friendly welcome and were able to check in early which was great. The room was spacious and clean, and although the bathroom looked a but old and tired we had a very comfortable 5 day stay here.

room is clean, bed very comfy, king size bed was made by two single beds we guess. The room had everything you need. can reserve parking, restaurants nearby quite convenient. Night time not noisey. We had a good sleep.

A good place to stay in, but not as great as you could expect. The rooms are large and clean but the bathroom is smal and in need of a "refresh". The staff in the reception was very friendly and helped us to find our way.

Great Location. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. We could walk to sporting fixtures and there are a lot of very good eating locations very close by. We would recommend this hotel for a budget stay close to central Sydney.
