Cambria hotel is just a bit outside of Madison amenities, but it is very close by, being right off of 151. It was very new and the room was comfortable, a small suite. Liked that we had two TVs, one in the bed side and one in front of the couch. Lots of outlets. But there was nowhere to charge a cell phone. This is the first hotel I have stayed in in a long time that had no charging outlets for cell phones. You would think a brand new hotel would have this update. The couches in the lobby have them, so why not the couches in the rooms?
Lovely hotel and so close to the airport and freeway - so very convenient for us as we were on route to a funeral. Manager was super helpful and the breakfast on the first day (steel cut oats) was delicious! 2nd morning the woman at the bar was very unfriendly.....We ordered the granola (no oats available) and she threw some fruit with a sprinkling of granola in some to go containers and handed us a bag with a scowl. Geez. We left on a sour note.
My room had a terrible odor (and I am not picky about smells). I informed the desk on the day my room was to be refreshed, but nothing was done about it. I called to complain and was given a new room. The HVAC system really roars -- it sounded like a 737 was about to smash into the building, each time it fired up. That was true in my room, the room I moved to, and my sister's room. It was loud enough to disturb sleep.
I had stayed at this property before, and back then they had a nice selection of fresh food for purchase. That had been removed and all that was available was processed snacks. We were given a handicapped-accessible room (which we didn't ask for) and although the room was clean, the mechanical maintenance was sketchy. The shower didn't work, so we had to wash our hair in the bath tub, which is difficult for old people who don't bend that well. Our toilet was very slow to flush, so we called to have it plunged so it didn't overflow, and they came right away. There were containers in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, but the body wash was empty. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a separate sitting area to relax. Except for the maintenance issues, we enjoyed our stay.
The woman who checked me in was especially warm and welcoming
Front desk had no clue what they were doing. Employee was not trained to check in.
Shuttle was not working.
Nice & very clean hotel.
It was located in a good area and near businesses and had good highway access

My room had small black flies on the walls and sink in the bathroom (room 611). Very disappointing.
