I stayed 3 nights during Christmas vacation. The room is spacious with city view. Very well sound proof even we were looking over the main street. The breakfast is very nice, bakeries are delicious and fresh. It has many varieties which suits the international cuisine. Kleber square is 2 mins walk. The hotel is really in the middle of the town. All Christmas markets and tourist attractions are on foot. The staff are very polite and helpful. I really loved the hotel and will stay there again for sure.

The Maison Rouge Hotel has many things going for it. For it's location combined with its facilities, it is a good price. The room that we were given was very spacious and even had a small balcony with a view of the cathedral (which rather embarrassingly we only realised on our second day!). The bathroom was equally large and a real plus. Breakfast was good too, with a few hot options on top of the traditional continental fare. Would highly recommend.

Hotel Rouge - Strasbourg This is a strange Hotel. They say it is 4 star and in parts it is, but in general it is not. The room we had was neat and clean and had been refurbished but really was more towards 3 star than 4 star. The hallways and stairs were very nicely done and were 4 star. The breakfast was a surprise. We thought it would be a collection of half-chewed pastries but turned out to be very good. Probably 4.5 star. Clean, organised with a good selection, and well trained staff without attitude. The Ground Floor reception area was very 3 star but the lounge off it more 4 star. The Male reception staff had that French “stuff-you” attitude that belonged in the 1970’s. This was not a problem to me as I can be equally rude but it certainly did not go down well with an American woman checking in. But Americans tend to be hard-to-please whingers anyway. The WiFi was woeful and failed totally one day. Hotels have to learn that WiFi today is as important as linen. Business people and those of us a long way from home rely on hotel WiFi and unreliable WiFi is totally unacceptable. Are you listening hotel management???? The hotel has a great location and we were there in Festival time so it was very crowded. So, would I stay here again…. I am not sure. If it stacked up well against similar properties maybe yes. But maybe if you pay a bit more you will get a lot more.

we stay for a couple of nights during the Christmas markets. the hotel is in a great location. we walked from the train station 20 minutes to the hotel but could have taken the tram. security was tight going over the river with every bag searched. the check in was easy, room clean and enough space. staff were efficient. the breakfast, as others have commented, was a bit crowded at the peak 9.30am time but good enough as it was included. location great for the markets, walk everywhere and it took 2 days to find them all.

All for five (from 5). A good size and clear rooms. Fully breakfast. convenient location. I recommend it to all. reasonable cost. the friendly staff. Near a lot of shops and markets and sightseeings. Good place.

This hotel is highly recommended for the Christmas markets. Great location top notch hotel, friendly staff. Rooms are a good size well equipped and maintained. We would stay here again without hesitation.

It's a perfect location, easy to walk to in between the train station and Cathedral. Wonderful for just walking the side streets and exploring this amazing city. I especially liked that they had a Christmas tree on each floor--just a nice little touch. Would stay here again.

This was our second stay in this hotel in 4 years. I felt I had to review again to counter some of the negative comments made in other reviews which simply do not match our experience. We only had a standard twin room, but it was perfect for our needs. It was spacious, clean and comfortable with a great bathroom and shower and no noise despite overlooking the main street and tramline. We had no issues with breakfast which had everything we needed and was replenished rapidly, nor did we have to queue The comfortable lounge/bar area was ideal for a nightcap and, importantly for me, the Armagnac was replaced so that I was able to enjoy a tot each night before bed! We found the staff to be friendly and pleasant despite some argumentative clients and the general busy time of the Christmas markets. You don't have to walk from the train station, There are two perfectly convenient and frequent tram lines which run directly to the hotel.Yes, some stops are suspended at times for security reasons and your bags are searched at strategic entry points to the central area, but these are sensible precautions in the times in which we live. You will also see armed troops and police everywhere but, again, perfectly wise and understandable. Anyway, we had a wonderful stay and again, I say thank you to the Maison Rouge.

The hotel is in a great location for the amazing Christmas markets of Strasbourg. Lobby area very nice, but I think that was only because it was very Christmassy, staff not so, quite rude in fact. Rooms ok not the standard I would expect for the money we paid, bright yellow bathroom tiles, grubbly looking bath, worn areas on toilet seat and a weird smell like pickled onions/mustard!! Don't know if this was the cleaner used but it made all our clothes smell! Huge queues for the breakfast out of the door and down the stairs on some mornings, not suitable size rooms or tables for the number of guests, very cramped, breakfast ok nothing special, there are far better cafes nearby that sell great coffee and pastries! Wouldn't stay here again, we visit various Christmas markets each year with the same group of friends and I think this hotel was a definite down point of our weekend. Needs a total refresh and modernising and a bit of luxury to make it worth the money paid.

A great location and some nice features but the lobby, rooms and dining spaces in dire need of a refresh. We stayed with a group of friends over the weekend for the Christmas markets and the hotel is perfectly located for these. Beware, because of the security measures in place, you will have to walk from the station to the hotel or anywhere on Grande Ile for that matter. Not pleasant for more senior travellers or those with young families. Room, in particular the bathroom, with its bright yellow tiles was an eyesore. Large, yes, but no shower curtain? Everything worked, but for close to 250 Euros a night over the weekend, I expect more. Mostly groups using this place and with an average sized and awkward breakfast room, traffic jam and queues down the corridor for breakfast between 8.30am and 10am. Breakfast is average, do you'd be better off trying one of the great bakeries nearby for a coffee and a pastry instead. Hotel bar is staffed by the receptionist and so best to avoid. Would I stay again? No. The low point of a fantastic weekend in beautiful Strasbourg.
