For a visit in Strasbourg, this can be a hotel to stay to accomodate in the city center. While checking in and out the staff in charge were very professional, very polite and much experienced. The location is perfect for city center historical buildings. Breakfast is fine. The bathroom I stay was fully renovated and nice. The hotel is mainly a retro style and depends what you are looking for. I liked it. Professional organization.
the hotel is located centrally in the city, but of a 4 star hotel with little extra charm. The room was dark, very old fashioned not a place to feel cosy arriving an icy winterevening. Breakfast ok. The best is the kind service by all staff.
If you see rouge when invited to stand for some time in a queue for the breakfast room, this may not be the maison for you. You gaze through the glass at couples chomping at tables for four, sometimes a solitary chomper at a table for four. Mem to management: sort this out. Once into the breakfast room there is an acceptable buffet although it is disappointing, in what is allegedly a four star hotel, to be obliged to join another queue for a coffee machine, rather than beverages brought to the table to order. The bedroom ( 307 ) was pleasant & well-equipped - a cunning idea, the opening wide the bathroom door & fitting it into a second frame, thereby creating a second barrier against the noise of the corridor & the lift. As far as we could trace, there was only one lift for the six floors & whenever it came it was full of people & luggage. There was an elegant staircase however, do-able from the third floor but probably not from the sixth. This hotel is to be highly commended for its transparency : the price we paid was identical to that featuring on the back of our bedroom door & to that displayed at the entrance to the hotel & clearly visible from the street. If you like to be on top of the place Kléber this hotel could very well suit you : I have to admit that there was no room for us in the quieter place where we usually stay in Strasbourg. ( Where there is no waiting for breakfast & they bring fresh coffee in an elegant cruche.. )
The staff of Maison Rouge where so friendly and helpful. We had a great stay especially that the place was wonderfully decorated for Christmas. It has a prime location close to the main attractions of Strasbourg. One minute walking distance to Place Kléber and 5 minutes to Strasbourg Cathedral. The rooms are spacious and very clean and neat. Will definitely choose it again on our next visit to Strasbourg.
We recently stayed at Mainson Rouge during the Christmas markets which is centrally located with lots of stores and restaurants around. We had a front room on the 4th floor and did not find it noisy at all even though the trams go by. I just wanted make reference to some previous negative comments, we found whole experience excellent with friendly and helpful staff. You can catch the tram to and from the station just buy a ticket at the stop, very easy. Our room was large and serviced everyday to a high standard. The breakfast had a good variety with fresh food and some hot dishes., The Wifi worked very well in our room (414) and the bed was very comfortable for my back. For a great day out you can catch the train Colmar, a beautiful quaint village about 30 minutes away. There is a great restaurant across in a side street La Stub which was very reasonable and served great food. We would certainly stay there again if we are fortunate to travel back to Strasbourg.
I stayed 3 nights during Christmas vacation. The room is spacious with city view. Very well sound proof even we were looking over the main street. The breakfast is very nice, bakeries are delicious and fresh. It has many varieties which suits the international cuisine. Kleber square is 2 mins walk. The hotel is really in the middle of the town. All Christmas markets and tourist attractions are on foot. The staff are very polite and helpful. I really loved the hotel and will stay there again for sure.
The Maison Rouge Hotel has many things going for it. For it's location combined with its facilities, it is a good price. The room that we were given was very spacious and even had a small balcony with a view of the cathedral (which rather embarrassingly we only realised on our second day!). The bathroom was equally large and a real plus. Breakfast was good too, with a few hot options on top of the traditional continental fare. Would highly recommend.
Hotel Rouge - Strasbourg This is a strange Hotel. They say it is 4 star and in parts it is, but in general it is not. The room we had was neat and clean and had been refurbished but really was more towards 3 star than 4 star. The hallways and stairs were very nicely done and were 4 star. The breakfast was a surprise. We thought it would be a collection of half-chewed pastries but turned out to be very good. Probably 4.5 star. Clean, organised with a good selection, and well trained staff without attitude. The Ground Floor reception area was very 3 star but the lounge off it more 4 star. The Male reception staff had that French “stuff-you” attitude that belonged in the 1970’s. This was not a problem to me as I can be equally rude but it certainly did not go down well with an American woman checking in. But Americans tend to be hard-to-please whingers anyway. The WiFi was woeful and failed totally one day. Hotels have to learn that WiFi today is as important as linen. Business people and those of us a long way from home rely on hotel WiFi and unreliable WiFi is totally unacceptable. Are you listening hotel management???? The hotel has a great location and we were there in Festival time so it was very crowded. So, would I stay here again…. I am not sure. If it stacked up well against similar properties maybe yes. But maybe if you pay a bit more you will get a lot more.
we stay for a couple of nights during the Christmas markets. the hotel is in a great location. we walked from the train station 20 minutes to the hotel but could have taken the tram. security was tight going over the river with every bag searched. the check in was easy, room clean and enough space. staff were efficient. the breakfast, as others have commented, was a bit crowded at the peak 9.30am time but good enough as it was included. location great for the markets, walk everywhere and it took 2 days to find them all.
All for five (from 5). A good size and clear rooms. Fully breakfast. convenient location. I recommend it to all. reasonable cost. the friendly staff. Near a lot of shops and markets and sightseeings. Good place.
