Our family went for a UP and Mackinaw Island trip and stayed at this hotel for a night before heading to island the next day. Location was a quick drive to restaurants and the ferry. The hotel has a water park that is slightly dumpy, but adequate for the kids. Most games in the arcade don't work and just take your quarters. The staff was excellent, being very kind and helped us to get around. The room was so-so, with pillows that were wrinkly, a warm fridge and wrappers on the floor from previous guests. The breakfast was a huge disappointment. The breakfast options were limited and of very poor quality. The only fruit option was canned fruit cocktail or "pickled zombie fruit" and the eggs came from a preformed block. The lady running the breakfast show forgot to put coffee grounds in the coffee machine, so the "coffee" was just hot water and coffee residue from the previous pot. All in all, I would stay there again for the location, price, waterpark and staff. However, the breakfast and arcade should be avoided. Overall 3/5*.

The hotel is very nice, some rooms are facing Lake Huron with balcony. However, we had to hassle with reservation clerk regarding reservation we had made for two bedrooms with two bed each facing Lake Huron with balcony. We finally had to settle with one bedroom with one bed and one bedroom with two beds but with no balcony. Hotel should have honored our reservation, and after a 6-hour driving travel we did not need this kind of aggravation.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is their water park. Staff, aside from breakfast staff, are less than approachable, managers don't care that there is any issue with your stay. Our room had multiple issues, including safety issues, and didn't even get a sorry but "and your point is" response. Would never stay again.

Charged me for my room twice, refused to give me a refund, so I had to file a complaint with my bank to get my money back.

Always call to double check your reservation if booked online. I was in the system but not on 'their list'. The employees were very nice and accommodating. The hot breakfast waffles were great but the eggs were aweful. The room was clean but the mattresses were flat and hard add a rock.

Staff ovetall was probably the better feature of the hotel. Terry the breakfast lady was the best very nice and helpful. The breakfast was ok..... If you don't eat pork then it's eggs and carbs galore. The bedding was on the yuk part and the pullout couch was torn and they had to bring a new mattress old one was so falling apart. The new one still had a coil sticking through it and the maintenance guy was kind enough to bring a thick mattress cover topper. Kids liked the water park. But defiantly everything could use an update.

Loved everything, water park was a great time and the rates were good. Not sure why others give this place a bad review. Would definitely stay again. Breakfast bar was great with a great view.

Staff very rude and room small an dirty. Kids liked water park, but pools dirty.

They overbooked my Jacuzzi suite even those I called the day prior to confirm it due to the fact we were coming in late and I was concerned about them overbooking and not having this room worked all day and drove 4hrs to arrive at midnight to find my room was not available not impressed and extremely upset to say the least. My birthday weekend and our anniversary weekend rolled into one to be ruined by the hotel with no remorse or compensation for a ruined weekend.

Well kept hotel great location active town clean water nice view

Stayed one night and liked it a lot. Very nice location and amenities.

Overall our stay was not a nightmare, but various aspects made me think it could've been so much better. From our window which did not close all the way, to filthy poolside changing rooms, the worst by far was the waterpark hours that seem to change randomly. Since we came for the waterpark, we were rather disappointed when it closed at 9pm and didn't open the next day until 11:30am. The breakfast is fine - lots of different kinds of bread and a few different proteins, but only one kind of canned fruit. We went last year at the same time of year - it doesn't look like they've fixed anything in that time. This hotel is fine, we still had fun in the waterpark, BUT it could be so much better with a larger/better cleaning/maintenance staff.

Beachview with good price deal with Family. Closed to ferry dock and mini water park is not so bad. Good breakfast buffet.

Stayed one night only, met up with family after the Chicago to Mac isle race. Nice place to stay and will use it next year.

We came off the road late after a long day of driving. The hotel staff were very helpful in getting us settled in. She was worried the room hadn't been cleaned and went to check before we went in. It had been, but we appreciated her checking. Had a good nights sleep and was off again early in the morning. The only real thing that we noticed of concern was there were a lot of dead Mosquitos on the walls. Very noticeable and would have been nice to have them cleaned off. Otherwise a good stay.

A beautiful view and pretty good room. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights an were pleasantly surprised by the politeness off the staff. I wasn't expecting too much given the price. We did have a jacuzzi in our room and it was as expected. We didn't bring our kids but the water park looked fun. We did have to kill a few spiders in our room when we first got in. Pros: - Great view - Courteous staff - Reasonably clean Cons: - Continental breakfast was horrid. There is no reason to ever eat it. EVER! Eggs are not supposed to be crunchy. The best thing was the juice and even then I questioned it. - Our room was right by the front desk. So very noisy. Overall not bad. Next time I'll opt for a room upstairs or at least away from the front desk.

We enjoyed our time when we were in the room but it was the farthest hotel from town..it took us five minutes to walk to town . Also the breakfast wasn't the best we have had , the biscuit n gravey were cold , the sausage was not best teasing. We didn't use the waterparks. It was a ok place to stay.

Where do I begin? At first I was nervous after reading all of the bad reviews, but the waterpark kind of sold me. Overall, it was a nice experience. We had 2 adults and 3 kids on our vacation. We had a twin double bed room, I wish we had gotten a larger one. The room seemed really small for what we paid and smaller than a lot of cheaper hotels, but with the beach view and access, we had to let some things slide. The cleanliness was okay, things could have been cleaned and wiped down better. I used to be a housekeeper in a hotel, so I saw many things wrong as opposed to someone who hasn't worked in the field. The waterpark pools were pretty dirty, there was dirt in all of the play and pool areas, but with so many people in and out constantly all day long, I imagine it's pretty hard to keep clean with a beach on the other side of the building. We stayed at another hotels later in our trip and it also had dirt in the bottom, so not just this pool. The waterpark area outside of the pool was pretty nice and clean. The staff were nothing to brag about and actually quite rude whenever you needed something like extra towels or any other items. It was like they didn't want to be bothered, even though most of the time they were just sitting there without much to do. Our stay was better than most of the reviews I read. We had a nice lakefront balcony room, so we didn't see the bugs all over the windows as some of the other reviews mentioned, I did look up from the beach and see what they were talking about though. When you're around water though, it's really hard to keep the spiders and bugs away, but it still could have been kept under better control. It was also mentioned the mildew smell, you do smell this in the lobby and stairwells. The room had wet carpeting when we arrived and smelled nice, so they must have just cleaned it. The thing I liked the most was the beautiful wooden furniture in the rooms. I wish I could have taken it all home with me! From the table and chairs to the headboards and armoire, it was amazing. I really liked the outdoor woodsy feel of the hotel, in the rooms and in the lobby area. The outside of the building is gorgeous with a nice log cabin feel. I also loved the pattern of the lobby chairs. All in all it was a pretty nice stay for all of us. Next time I will have to rent a room in a hotel without a waterpark though, all the kids wanted to do was go to the waterpark and play and the adults wanted to get out and see the sites. So that was a bit of a battle.

Ok. Short visit but was nice. Room wasn't what we reserved but front desk took care of it after asking.

advertised as new in 2013-can't believe it!! Beachfront lamps were all broken and falling down, The waterpark looked like it had been around for years. All the pool areas were worn and shabby-had one "lifeguard" for three pool areas. No supervision-lazy river was full of 10 to12 year old boys rough housing. claimed to have a 20 foot + hot breakfast buffet. cold scrambled eggs and sausage, biscuits and gravy cold cereal with a gallon of milk that was setting out at room temp. "homemade" waffles and pancakes were homemade because you had to make them yourself!! all of this was served in front of huge piles of laundry. The tiles on our bathroom floor were broken and there were gobs of grout all over it, Every window was so dirty you couldn't see out of it. I have never stayed at a more grossly misrepresented place in my life! I will never book online again if this is what they offer
