We booked this on a last minute deal and had a great time! Friendly staff, nice amenities, and our 2-bedroom place was perfect. We have food allergies and the well equipped kitchen was very appreciated.
This was our second week long visit and we still love it here. We had a two bedroom/two bath with full kitchen. Place was immaculate with central A/C and a balcony with a nice view. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable of the area. Great location for the mountain and not far from downtown. Underground parking with elevator to the units was nice too.
We've stayed at many Wyndham properties over the years and the location of this one can't be beat. It is a short drive to all the Steamboat has to offer. Our visit was in summer but this is not just a ski town. There was a lot to do and we enjoyed the mountains, rafting, tubing, skateboarding, and other outdoor activities. The resort itself is nice, but it is a bit dated. The room decor seemed thrown together--there were Norman Rockwell paintings on one wall, Celtic iron work on another, strange vases, and assorted knick knacks. It honestly could have been purchased from a thrift store and thrown together. There were wires hanging from the bottom of the television and in the bedroom, there was an electric outlet loaded with extra slots to power the tv, alarm clock, lamp, and cable box. It looked bad. The carpet was worn in most places and the furniture had seen better days. Wyndham likely has resorts slated for refurb and this one must be near the top of the list. Despite this, we had a great time at the pool and we enjoyed cooking out on the grills in the common area. It is a short drive to the downtown area and we had fun eating out and shopping there as well. Check out SK8 Church if you are in the area. It is a cool indoor skate park for anyone and it's free.
Steamboat springs is a beautiful place to travel. The mountain drive is lovely and absolutely astonishing. I would come back to steamboat; however, not sure about this resort. When first arrived to our unit, the floor was soaked in front of the balcony door (floor smells like stale water). This resort knows that there is a problem with this unit, the rugg tapped down in room#3106 :) Today we changed rooms today July 28, 2017 to a 2 bedroom deluxe. I was shocked that the standard 2 bedroom is bigger than the 2 bedroom deluxe. You only have a shower and a jetted tub. Really, other than being a bit smaller there is no difference between the 2 units. Unless I am really missing something here :)
Murphy bed is double size and you can feel the coils. No a.c. and like previous reviewer stated, windows open to outdoor hallway where kids run io and down and adults have loud conversations walking by. Small tv. Outdated orange rug anf bathroom from 70s. Can't believe this is a Wyndham. Very disappointed for the price we paid. Like a Motel 6. Underground garage is open to anyone who wants to push the button and the door will slam so hard it could kill you. Studio looks nothing like other pics reviewers posted of other rooms.
The resort is a short distance away from the world-renowned Steamboat Springs Ski Area. For the rest of the area, it's just a strikingly beautiful natural paradise! Downtown is a nice place to wander around, get some nice food, and enjoy some nightlife. The resort itself is clean and well-maintained. There was plenty of parking, probably enough even during ski season. The big outdoor pool was warm (July) and very popular. There's also a separate smaller pool next to the checkin area. The hot tub was separate, covered, with room for 19. We came here on a timeshare exchange, so we were in building 1. No AC, no elevators, and minimum 10 steps to get to the first floor. Our 1BR unit was spatious, well-furnished, with a full kitchen. I think all the units have balconies. We could open our patio door (no screen) and BR window and prop open the door to get good cross-ventilation. The evening and morning breezes were enough to cool down the unit for the day. The other builds have been upgraded to meet the relevant standards, WorldMark for some, Diamond for others. These buildings have AC and elevators, as well as upgraded furnishings. We were quite satisfied with building 1, though. The sales office holds WorldMark owner updates, but can't sell new memberships. Since I didn't check in via WM, I wasn't offered a sales pitch, and didn't take one. I was never hounded. Now that I think of it, I don't know if they had Wyndham sales pitches. I also wish they didn't allow smoking on the balconies. Hopefully that will come with time. Even in building 1, wifi was free and worked very well. It wasn't limited by the number of devices, and one login per device lasted for the whole week. Checkin was prompt and staff was friendly.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe unit. The master has a king bed with a small jacuzzi tub and large shower. The 2nd bedroom had 2 full (or queen - not sure) beds with a balcony off of it. The living area was comfortable with a fireplace and a door to the balcony off of the 2nd bedroom. The kitchen has a LOT of cabinet and storage space, and the room has a small washer/dryer. The room was comfortable overall. The only bad part of the room was the dining table was very wobbly - I feared it falling apart while we were there. Our view was also of the String music building and tent. It wasn't awful, and when they played during one of our nights there, we could hear the music from the balcony. The mountain views would have been nicer, but it had it's plusses. The rooms across the hall saw mountains, but also overlooked the pool and parking lot, which could be rowdy. We did not use the underground parking, but I can imagine that is a huge plus when it snows. Our check in had some snags, but overall the stay was very nice. The area is lovely. The falls are well worth the short trip, and the Rocky Mountain National Park was pretty awesome!
We tried to check in early and they had a room ready for us by 2:00, which was nice. I suggest to keep checking back with the front desk. We had a 2nd floor, 2 bedroom condo in building 3. It over looked the road and parking lot and I was a bit worried about noise, but I never heard a thing. Condo was nicer and better appointed than I expected. I am picky! Everything was really spacious and big. I read the reviews before our stay and unplugged the phone. I never had a sales pitch, not once. Beds were comfortable for all of us. A.C. was sure welcomed on this hot week in Steamboat. I am sure it's only needed for a few months of the year. We visited friends in another condo complex without AC and it was miserable. This would be a reason to pick this property alone. Hot tub was nice. Pool was seriously overcrowded over July 4th weekend. Steamboat cancelled the fireworks. Ironically they were to be the best ever and the condo was at a premium for July 4th, but it was a dud of a night in town. Here are the things to work on: One side of the building, or pick a building or two, need to be non-smoking on the balconies. The balconies are very close to either the master bedroom or the next door balcony. Our neighbors were both pot and cigarette smokers. This really does put a damper on spending time on the porch or opening up a window. It's nice to use fresh mountain air to cool down, but with smoke right next door, we just left the AC on at all times (it was an especially hot time). This is just not right in this day and age and must be addressed. The wifi. This is a also something they really need to change. Each condo gets 2 devices to add to the wifi! What? We are a family of 5, so one of us doesn't get it? Yep that was the answer. That is no good either. Give enough codes. Check out is way too early. Who wants to be out by 10 am? I have dozens of hotel stays reviewed (maybe more) and I have never seen a 10 am check out. This should also be addressed. They need to provide a recycling bin in the room. They gave us a bag, which is better than most places.
This place is yet another reason we love our Worldmark membership. What a fantastic stay we had while visiting for Winterfest. We had a 2 bedroom on the top floor. The underground parking is tops, especially in winter. Our view over the valley was spectacular even getting to see hot air balloonists launching. The room was tops with generous space in every room and all the amenities of home to make the stay perfect. The location is easy to access and outside of downtown which is perfect during festival periods. Can't wait to go back!!
This resort needs a major renovation or at least some minimal maintenance. The worst part of the experience is the bed. I have never slept on a more uncomfortable bed in my life. I generally like firm mattresses but this is like sleeping on cloth-covered plywood. If you're a back sleeper it may be okay but for side or stomach sleepers don't count on a good night's sleep. We moved to the pull-out couch after the first night and that worn-out, thin, poor quality mattress was still more comfortable than the bed. In addition, the bedroom gets extremely warm in the summer as there is no air conditioning in the room. There is a unit in the kitchen but the air circulation is so poor the bedroom is always 8-10 degrees warmer than the living room and it stayed uncomfortably warm at night. Beyond that the unit is in need of significant maintenance. The garage parking (which should provide added security) had broken entrances the entire time we were there so anyone could come and go. We had a first floor room and the sliding door to the patio had a broken latch so there was no way to lock the sliding door - again, not great from a security perspective. The phone flashed to show us we had messages but the phone didn't work so we couldn't retrieve them. The rooms have doorbells but ours didn't work. Neither of our TVs was working when we got to the room. My wife's first comment when she walked into the bedroom was "That's the smallest TV I've ever seen!". The biggest plus is the staff. They are all very friendly and helpful. Overall the place needs work. If the beds were comfortable I'd move them up to 3 stars.
