I had few days so far in the hotel, it is close from downtown and had swimming pool. It was recommended by a friend and I found it an average hotel. The check in time took about 20-30 minutes which is not appropriate at all. The hotel apologizing for that delay. It has acceptable restaurant, however breakfast is not attractive and normal. The knife, fork and spoon was not arranged properly in the table during the breakfast time. The safe in the room was upside down and not cleaned properly. The bed sheet was put back instead of replace with new one, even though this was business class room. The towel at room bathroom is not soft. I have had better experience with other hotel. Just recently, I was in holiday Inn in Canada and it is totally different experience and expedition.
The hotel is pretty nice, great location and a swimming pool (12 m) in the basement. The room is ok as well, nothing to report. However, as soon as we arrived we got the first problems. The parking lot in the basement does not belong to the hotel, so once we got some problems with payment the staff at the reception replied "the parking is managed by a 3rd party company, sorry we cannot help". What happened is that it was not possible to pay the 24 hrs tariff (180 NOK) so I had to pay the hourly rate (30 NOK) which made the parking extremely expensive. What really pissed me off is the total lack of support from the reception. The breakfast is nothing special, pretty poor choice. Staff: useless at the reception; very friendly and supportive at the breakfast (Zorika at the breakfast offered to park at her place, to help with the parking issue).
I would have given this place 5 star ratings except for the parking situation. The hotel uses a private garage used by a private company for guest parking. It is not cheap, about 65 to 70 dollars for 3 nights. But the worst is that the credit card machine to pay for the parking would not accept my credit card. I spent a solid hour going back and forth up to the reception to try to make the card work, to no avail. Finally, the guy at the reception desk said to just park the car in the garage and he would call the company so they wouldn't fine me or tow my car. Other than that, the room was awesome, we had a business class suite, and it was huge, even for American standards. The bathroom was spacious. The pool and spa area was amazing, and had cool lighting. The staff, including at the reception desk and at breakfast were the nicest and most helpful people I have met. They were truly amazing and went out of their way to help in any way they could, including my parking situation. The breakfast was amazing. They even have an early bird breakfast as we needed so we could get to the hikes early, starting at 4 am! Aslo, this hotel is a short, 5 min, lovely walk to stavenger harbor, where all the shops and restaurants are. Plenty restaurants to choose from. Very desirable location. Very clean. Perfect stay.
Stayed here during our long weekend. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful -- available to answer all kinds of tourist questions! The amenities at the hotel are plentiful and wonderful. I especially enjoyed the "pillow menu!" Location is perfect for easy walk to Old Town and the harbor and shopping. Bus stop not too far away for a quick trip back to the airport. Great hotel!
Very nice hotel good location. Pretty atrium and great breakfast buffet. On fairly busy street but surrounded by quite neighborhoods. Easy walk down the hill to water front with numerous great restaurants and shops. Very good friendly service. For Americans::wash cloths and bath mats furnished. When cruise ships are in port, shops and restaurants can be very busy.
Stavanger Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, August 2017 Even before I arrived, the staff at the Radisson Blu Riyal were extremely helpful and responsive. Therefore, it should not have been a surprise that the good service would continue – what was a surprise, and a wonderful one at that, was that the staff and the hotel were superb. Indeed, they should be the role model to which all Radisson hotels should aspire. I had booked at Business Class room, originally asking for a room on the top floor. However, when I checked in, I discovered that nearly all of the Business Class rooms on the top floor have connecting doors. I always avoid staying in rooms with connecting doors because the soundproofing is awful and you have to endure the sound of your neighbour’s every movement and nose blow. I was given a room , to the side of the hotel (I had asked for a quiet room), on the fifth floor without any problem. In that room, there was a fault with the mini bar refrigerator – again, without fuss, the refrigerator was replaced within an hour. The room itself was wonderfully quiet – of course, you occasionally heard the thud of a heavy footstep from the neighbour above, but you can’t exclude all noise and it was not bad since the floors are carpeted (much worse are wooden floors!). It was the perfect size for me, the solo traveller. Cleaned well each day and the pillows and bed were extremely comfortable. The air con, on the rare occasion I used it during the day, was not noisy and, at night, the room was warm and cozy – normally, in hotel rooms, I feel cold but at Radisson Blu Royal, there was no need for a second duvet! Every question, every need, any issue was answered promptly and with cheerful assistance and efficiency. For example, I needed to find a good running route and I was shown a couple of possibilities; I wanted to know where I could find a good quality supermarket and was shown where the Meny supermarket was. These may seem like small events but, to me, they showed they understood my need and were happy to help. I had gone to Stavanger to run the half marathon so carb-loading the day before was important. However, I have certain food intolerances so I’d taken along my own pasta, hoping the kitchen would cook it for me. They did, it was no problem at all. I am so grateful for that. WiFi is free and reliable so I could use the internet without problem and watch Netflix. The hotel is only about 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of the town. If a taxi is needed anywhere, there are always taxi’s waiting in the street to the side of the hotel. What stands out for me is the staff. I want to thank Karoline, Hege, Sara-Mei and Sara who were all so kind, sympathetic, friendly and efficient. I would certainly stay at this hotel again if I return to Stavanger.
This was our first time at a Radisson Blu hotel and it did not disappoint. The friendly staff welcomed us at check in and made us feel very at home in the lovely hotel with it's huge atrium in the centre. Our room was perfect with nice views and plenty of space to relax and unpack after our exciting coast bus trip from Bergen. The breakfast deserves special note. It had a lovely atmosphere and the food was fantastic, as was the coffee. The breakfast staff were among the best we encountered on our travels and deserve mention for their care and attention to detail. I'll stay here again and our Radisson Blu experience at Stavanger will have me looking more closely at this hotel group when booking accommodation in the future.
This is my first stay in this hotel and it was great. Everything I could have needed all in one place. I only had the opportunity to eat in the restaurant once and it was great. The benison and wolf fish were perfect.
We chose the hotel because it was the only one with spa and pool in the city. The room was spacious and the breakfast buffet was rich. The staff was professional (apart from one lady at the reception who was pretty bored when asked for information) and the facilities very convenient. One thing we did not like was that there was no surveillance in the pool. There were cameras but there was noone there. Despite the fact that there was a sign forbidding diving, families with children came and they dived. Apart from that the hotel offered a very pleasant stay.
Last minute booking and pleasantly surprised. Modern and clean. Fantastic buffet breakfast. Outstanding guest services from the front desk. The only surprise was no air conditioning. However the staff brought up a room fan which worked well. Beds are comfy and lots of pillow choices. Bathroom floor was heated! Splurge on a massage with Elise, I had a chocolate scrub & wrap, followed by a chocolate massage. The perfect way to recover after hiking Kjerag!
