Park Inn by Radisson Stavanger

I've only stayed in one Park Inn before, and it was a very pleasant, simple hotel. This property is clearly past its prime, and in dire need of upgrading. It feels like stepping back into the 1970s - and not in a good way. We had to move room, as the toilet wasn't working in the first room that we were given. Unfortunately they didn't have any upgraded rooms cleaned, so they couldn't honour my Club Carlson status. The breakfast was very good - plenty of choice, and good quality food. Sadly we were leaving very early the second morning, so only got to experience it once. The take away breakfast was ok, but we did regret not making the most of our stay.

The breakfast was really fine. The room was really Big and they put for us a crib free of charge. The hotel isnt at The center of The town but we had a car and The free parting was a really good add. We find The staff very friendly.

Really great hotel for the price. Good location, the bus stop for the airport is right outside, plus an easy walk into the city centre. The room was spotless, quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Staff all helpful and polite and speak impeccable English. For the price paid, I really can't find any fault.

It was easy to check in and our room was good sized. The dark curtains were great to make the room dark for sleeping, the beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good. The flybussen to the airport picks you up/drops you off just outside the front door.

Hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the city center/harbor area. Very nice breakfast, plenty of selections and high quality. Room is modern (14th floor) , nice harbor-view , with enough space for 3 twin beds. Roof-top patio with 360 city view to relax.

I have stayed at this hotel once before, around 4-5 years ago and decided to book it again for an overnight stay in Stavanger. Either my memory has failed me or this hotel has really gone down in their standards meanwhile. The quality of rooms was exceptionally poor & really disappointing. The hotel on its room alone deserves a 1 on 5 but I must say that the staff was very friendly and helpful and for that reason alone I decided to give it a 2. We were a group of friends traveling and had 3 rooms booked in the hotel. We reached fairly late at night and wanted to stay up till late having a drink etc. Since the bar at the hotel closes by 12:30, and they dont allow guests to have their own alcohol in the bar area, the reception stuff let us spend some time in the conference rooms which were not being used. This was quite good of them as frankly the rooms were not worth sitting around in & there is no way we would have been able to stay up gathering in one of our rooms. About the rooms - we were on the ground floor. The rooms looked like they had been converted from some old building. I couldn't quite tell what these rooms were in their past life but their standard was quite poor. Our room had no overhead lighting at all, in fact in place of the bulb fixture overhead there was for some reason plug points on the roof top. They had provided 2 bedside lamps and a third floor lamp in the room in lieu of overhead lighting, but it didnt quite light up the room as well as I expected. The bathroom had these old light switches and tube lamps which had a good 2-3 second delay in lighting up from the moment you flipped the switch on. The roof of the bathroom had weird brown/rust marking all over it and looked very untidy. Worst of all we had a bath-tub in there, with a tap to fill it up, they had provided a fixture where the shower would go in but no actual shower. We only realized this in the morning and getting ready was a complete nightmare as the only option was to take a bath. Perhaps we were greatly unlucky and were given some very poor rooms. We were staying in numbers 202 & 203. On top of all this the rooms faced straight on to the main road as well. I would really hesitate to stay at this hotel again, and if I did I certainly would avoid the two rooms mentioned above.

It's a decent hotel centrally located. Walking distance to bus and train station. We could walk to the centum.Old Stavanger and some of the attractions is walking distance from the hotel.Hotel is a bit dated but the room was clean and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good. They let us store our luggage after we checked out which was very helpful.

The good: staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Got a set menu, since we were travelling in a group, and the food was ok. Breakfast was alright. The bad: Placed in the old part of the hotel, with a dreadful room, advertised as family room. I am glad I did not bring family... dirty, cables coming out of the wall, view of concrete courtyard and kitchen chimney. Old fashioned bathroom, with no fan, no way to control heat...all in all dreadful, especially as expensive and advertised as family room. This was not Park Inn standard and extremely off-putting. Apparently the new part of the hotel has nice rooms and my colleagues were happy with their rooms.

While there are some lovely things about this hotel, there are also a few parts that need updating. The actual room that we stayed in was big and the view out of the large window was pretty, however the bathroom looked like it hadn't been updated since the 80's and especially the door had some creepy plate of metal over a hole that made it look like a nail slot...it was weird. The hallways also looked shabby. This hotel is also a solid 15-20 min walk from the downtown core and the walk is through an industrial area that we found kind of unpleasant. (However, there is free parking, so if you like to drive everywhere this won't be an issue). Apart from these details, the bed was large and decently comfortable. Breakfast was included and it was excellent. There were lots of options including hot pancakes or a few types of eggs and a bunch of cold options. The staff were pleasant and helpful and we encountered no problems on our visit. Overall, it was a decent place to stay and by far the best price.

This hotel is a bit out dated and away from the center but it comes with its perks such as spacious rooms, free car parking and Wi-Fi. From the airport you can take a bus service called Flybussen for $21 to the train station in the center. The hotel is about 15 minutes of walking from the central train and bus station. The rooms are very spacious with a comfortable bed, big size shower and bath, sofa pieces, TV and big windows with plenty of light. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, however I suggest adding more fruits and better/stronger coffee.
