My name is Kyle and I am 9 years old and I was part of the Esker celtic frame football team. we stayed here last Saturday for one night. The staff were lovely, the breakfast was awesome and rooms were even better.
Rooms were nice, clean and functional. There was coffee, tea and a kettle in the room but no fridge or other edible items (which was fine because I never use them and they're usually overpriced in every hotel). Good quality hair dryer in the room too. In-room air-conditioning/heating might be a bit too noisy if you're a light sleeper but you can turn it off. Door card/keys were a bit pernickety, at first, and didn't unlock the door the first few tries but I must have subconsciously learned the right technique as it seemed to work better after the first day. Shower was good - easy to turn on/off and turn up/down the heat - just the right amount of power and the soap was excellent for hands/body/hair. The only criticism is the towels were a bit scratchy but that didn't detract for me. If you like soft, fluffy towels you may need to bring your own. I didn't complain or ask for replacements and I used the same towels for the duration I was there, so I don't know if there are better towels available if you ask. The reception staff were very friendly, always happy to help and greeted us with a "good morning" and a "good evening" whenever we came in or went out. I want to mention especially Nikki (sp?) for her natural friendliness and cheerfulness and for always going out of her way to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed.
We recently stayed for a few days, in order to catch up with family and attend a school reunion event. The occasion was very successful,especially the visit to the Marstons brewery in the town. During our stay the hotel was very busy, not a spare bed to be found on Saturday evening, yet the staff were polite, friendly, cheerful and helpful at all times and were a genuine credit to their employers. We left on the Monday morning having spent an extremely pleasant few days in their care. Thanks are due to Nicky,Lauren,Alex Linda nd Carrys, all of whom were a pleasure to meet. Thank you ladies, look forward to our next visit.
Esker Celtic Frame Football team stayed in the Holiday Inn Express hotel while on our trip to St Georges park. The hotel and staff were extremely helpful. From the time that we arrived they could not have done more for us. We were travelling from Ireland and had been on the go 6 hours before arriving at the hotel. None of us had eaten and the hotel were more than happy to allow us to have breakfast before check in. With over 40 people in our party with 10 who are in wheelchairs or frames the hotel kept us all together and in very accessible rooms. We would like to thank Lauren Mee and all the staff at the Holiday Inn Express for making our stay at the hotel an enjoyable and comfortable stay.
I wish to change my previous review titled Crap to Very Good. Having initially complained the staff were helpful and friendly and resolved the issues relating to the room. So from an initial 1 star now to 5 stars.
Booked by my company after I'd been at the Holiday Inn Derby the previous weekend. I stayed for 1 night with my 2 small dogs. Set on an industrial estate with a 24 hour McDonald's opposite it was well located & easy to find. Plenty of parking directly on site which is always a bonus - it costs £3 per night. Reception staff were very friendly. Was somewhat disappointed that food wasn't available on a Sat night but there was quite a few eateries within walking distance - but as a lone female it wasn't ideal I was given a room on the 2nd floor that was a "disabled" room. No complaints about the actual room but the bathroom was a wet room & wet was the operative word after using the shower, there was water everywhere due to its design Nevertheless the room was quiet & clean & the bed was super comfy. Sadly there's always the usual noisy, ignorant chavs who crash around hotel corridors, screeching & slamming doors at 1am with no regard for other guests & this is unfortunately the norm in this country nowadays whether it's in a Holiday Inn or Four Seasons. However, despite this it was a very decent hotel that I would be happy to return to when next in the area
We had two nights here with different family members each night and different arrangements for each room needed. The staff were great very friendly and arrange for rooms for our party to be close to each other. We stayed Friday and Sat night before August Bank holiday. The housekeeping staff are absoloute stars as we had family members with 10 week old baby arriving on the Saturday morning for a 2 o'clock wedding. It was amazing that they were able to have their room ready well before booking in time allowing baby to be sorted before we needed to leave at 1 O'clock can't thank them enough this eased some stress on a very busy day for us when they alos had a very busy weekend. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again
The room was clean, towels were nice and fluffy but the bed was horrendous. It was a small double and it was like sleeping on a blancmange. It was very soft and springy and we hardly slept at all. Every time my husband moved, so did I - you get the picture. We were trialing the hotel as a possible for guests to stay at a family wedding next year. Unfortunately I would NOT recommend it. The sink in the bathroom also smelt of drains, the soap dispenser (fixed to the wall in the shower) did not dispense and had to dismantle it to use it. No other complimentary toiletries. The breakfast was simple but nothing special -help yourself. Staff were very nice that were clearing the tables. We mentioned the bed on check out, but the receptionist didn't seem overly bothered, just said that they are in the process of upgrading the mattresses, but didn't say how long this would take. So up to press we will not be returning, or recommending to any family or friends for the wedding
Stayed two nights here while competing at the national flyball championships with my dog. Really welcoming and friendly reception staff and comfortable rooms. I really appreciated how responsive and helpful the staff were. My cool-box wasn't working as well as I hoped so staff were very accommodating and let me store my dog's food in one of the hotel's fridges. Didn't sleep very well on the first night as some guys back from a stag do were being really loud in the corridor going from room to room but the next day I asked if I could be moved and although the hotel was full, the ladies at reception were very understanding and switched me to another room. Love the fact staff are really accommodating and understanding regarding dogs staying as they said guests are welcome to help themselves to breakfast and take it back to their room if worried about leaving a dog on its own. Great selection at breakfast and rooms are very clean so overall, a great experience, for me and my dog, thank you!
Let me get this over with first, I guess I'm used to staying in places where the breakfasts are served on breakfast plates or similar sized. The Holiday inn Express at Burton on Trent did a nicely cooked breakfast but the plates put out to serve the breakfast on were SIDE plates! The adverts talk about unlimited buffet style breakfast and why have unlimited ? Why should people have to keep going back? Why not offer a decent size breakfast and be done? I have never seen anything like it in all the time I've been travelling and staying in international hotel chain hotels. Sorry tiny plate that I couldn't butter my toast on without it hanging off the plate wasn't a good start to my day!. ... The staff were welcoming and friendly and for the most part helpful. Our room was clean and the beds were comfy. I also appreciated the free WiFi. The window didn't seem to close properly and so we could hear constant traffic noise and the rowdiness of some other guests late on one of the nights. The shower cubicle was a bit awkward to negotiate when getting out of it as there is nothing to steady you as you step down onto the floor. Over all it was a nice stay and if I book again I will bring my own breakfast plate!
