The Island Beachcomber Hotel

Check in was long but got the needed room, however, there must be too much mold as both my grandkids and me got the watery runny eyes and sneezing. The room was not cooling but when stopped by front to alert they sent someone who got the remote for the ac and had it on but the allergy was not stopping and we had to leave. Thankfully the agent was kind and understanding and refunded. The hotel can be upgraded as it has such a lovely ambiance and decor...more so the beach is calm too.

Loved the stay at the Beachcomber Hotel. Loved the location. Loved the funkiness. Loved the atmosphere.

Room was very very musty. Shower drain did not work; mold on soap.

Spent one night before going to St John. Beautiful beach steps away from room. Great bar and restaurant by the beach. Would stay there again. Good food in restaurant and service.

Unfortunately the hotel needs much more attention to detail as it pertains to the overall condition of the rooms. They have not been maintained. We have stayed here four times and will not be staying again. The employees are great.

Hotel is on a beautiful beach. The staff tries hard, but because there is a question about the property being sold, etc., no renovations have been done in years and it definitely shows. The rooms are pretty bad. The carpeting is so dirty that you have to wear sandals at all times and the rooms smell awful. Bathroom was pretty bad too, toilet seat was falling off, no phone in room, no wifi except at the beach bar. We had one breakfast and one lunch at the property. Food was fine, service was good. We stayed out of the room as much as possible because of the smell. We found it hard to understand all the wonderful reviews when the property is in such need of repair. Looking out from our little deck area, you could see all the broken railings and peeling paint and general rundown look of the buildings.

You will not find a more personable care! The staff is the best! We have made lifelong friends! We will stay here when we come to St Thomas. We love this place

Paid for a deluxe beachfront room for our anniversary night. We were given a standard room at first. They did change it. Entire property needs a remodel. It is rough around the edges. WiFi only works at the beach bar. We had luch at the beach bar and had dinner next door at the Emerald. The Emerald is a larger nicer property right next door.

Our stay was fantastic. Rooms are quaint and small but comfortable. We had a beachfront with king bed and the other couple had garden view with two double beds. Fabulous little restaurant and great beachfront bar. Very quiet beach except on our last day, Magen's beach was closed and taxis brought people to our beach which then became very crowded. The only problem we had was one night when it rained, the hotel entrance road was flooded but we were able to drive through it. Also, the only wi-fi is at the bar. Very near to the airport (runway is across the street) but no planes at night. Very friendly staff who let us check out later (12:30 rather than 11:00) as our flight was later! Car rental or taxi would be necessary to go into town.

Older hotel, but clean and quaint. Nice beach to relax, and a quiet beach bar too. Great lay over hotel. near Airport.

Hotel staff, especially Patrick and Marga were exceptional and knowledgeable . Patrick greeted us the minute we got out of our taxi , checked us in, turned the fryer back on to cook us food being we arrived late. He made excellent food for us and treated me like a king on my birthday. Everyone was really friendly , and I really enjoyed the simplicity of this hotel. Yes it is older , and you must take safari buses,or friendly taxi drivers (Michael was great!) But is is beautiful where it is located, the small staff is great, and you can't beat the bang for you buck.

Just spent four nights at Island Beachcomber while enrolling my daughter at the University of the Virgin Islands. We were completely satisfied with our stay and will definitely return. Island Beachcomber is not the luxury resort many people expect when staying in St. Thomas, but at the same time, we felt it did not deserve the criticism found in other reviews of this place. Our experience was that it is a laid-back beachfront motel with a good restaurant and friendly beach bar that costs half the price of the Emerald Beach Resort next door which offers the exact same thing (we know because we stayed there last time). The staff was attentive and welcoming in all departments. The room was not fancy but at the same time it was as clean as an older motel room could be. Our only criticisms were that the WiFi router at the bar was really spotty, the air conditioner leaked into the closet underneath so our clothes got wet, and the shower curtain in the handicapped stall was raised too high to be effective in keeping the bathroom floor dry -- nothing out of the ordinary on an island. But you cannot beat the location of this place with its combination of proximity to the beach, airport and university all at the same time. We will definitely choose the Island Beachcomber for all our future trips to St. Thomas!

This hotel is within walking distance to the airport. They are helpful there.

It is not a bad option if you want to stay close to the airport. The rooms amenities are poor.

The Hotel's location is great. A few steps off the airport and it is on a beautiful beach. The friendly staff makes you feel like you are at a friend's house more than a hotel, we loved it! The Hotel has the laid back atmosphere of the island. The room was kept very clean. The decor was a bit out dated but it was comfortable. Luscious garden with a few seating areas, make sure to apply bug repellent after sunset hours.

We we´re flying out on newyearsday after a two week islandhoppping trip in the USVI and BVI. We really liked the hotel locationwise, on the beach and near the airport. With that we had a nice room and were able to walk to our eraly afternoon flight after some swimming and snorkeling in the morning. Recommendable!

This hotel is right on Lindbergh Beach. The staff are great and the location is convenient.

This place was terrible. Two years we stayed here, and it has gone down hill in just a year. Wait staff, like the bar and restaurant..(if you can call it one, it is mainly bar food), are classless, and bring in the local rif-raft as customers. On an occasion, one night there, my family member walked into a screaming and yelling woman, with vulgarities and all. She was removed from the property. (Just don't feel safe being on this property at all.) It was just a terrible experience in the USVI that I have ever encountered, and I go yearly. Also, the room was very dirty, where, I did receive many many bed-bug bites, as this place is infested with them. Was seriously thinking about call the Island's Dept. of Health. I have so much more to say about this property, and unfortunately, it's all negative. I spoke with one of your representatives about this property, and they were appreciative. Please remove.

I got in a day late, missed my connecting flight, they upgraded me to a beachfront room and pushed my reservation up a day so that I lost no time on the island,it is an older hotel, not a big fancy resort, quiet clean, comfortable and friendly, the entire staff was genuinely happy and friendly. I will stay here again!!
