Not only was the view amazing, the junior suite was ample in space! Comfortable bed (although could be a bit more plush), couch area (pull-out, too) with TV, sitting area inside and outside patio and a nice bathroom. The pool was lovely with amazing views. The restaurant and attached bar were a plus. Easy taxi ride to town and other areas around the island. Fully recommend. And a VERY generous breakfast is included - continental buffet with pancakes, french toast and eggs made free to order.
We chose Hotel Mafolie for our last evening in the USVIs. We couldn't be more delighted with our experience. It has the charm of a well-built, well-maintained inn with stone steps and lovely rooms. We found refreshing water with ice, lemon and orange slices at the reception desk. Just what we needed after the heat of the day. The room was beautifully appointed and overlooked the pool and Charlotte Amalie bay beyond. We didn't need to use the air conditioner because the breeze from the window cooled our room all night. We stopped at the restaurant late at night for dessert and a nightcap and had the pleasure of conversing with the hotel's friendly general manager, Adam Israel. The breakfast (included in the price of the room) was another highlight. We sat in the restaurant at a table overlooking the bay. Our waitress quickly came by with water and orange juice and invited us to the buffet. What a buffet! Made to order omelets, pancakes, bagels, and potatoes. The fruit salad was off-the-charts! Fresh pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupes and strawberries. Although we didn't use the pool, we did sit poolside and enjoyed the experience. If you ever get the chance to experience this lovely hotel...do it!
The hotel itself is outdated and could use work. Quite a few broken items in the room. But hard to complain when you are in St.Thomas and for the price of stay. Pool was great and had a good view of the harbor below. Drinks at the pool took a very long time to arrive as we had to call up to front desk to get them ordered. Bar staff and morning breakfast staff were not friendly at all, but our server at dinner was great. Would look to a different hotel next time staying in St. Thomas.
The location is indeed fantastic, perched halfway up a hill with incredible views of the bay and the Caribbean Sea. The pool is clean and pleasant. Some of the staff were helpful. Stopped in St Thomas for 36 hours to pick up a marriage license, then onto BVI. Upon arrival, for our 2 night stay, we were assigned room 107. Very small, no view, no hot water but plenty of what appeared to be black mold. We asked to be moved. They could only reassign our room for the 1st night, but not the second. My fiancé and I looked for another hotel for night 2 while taking in the views at the bar. This is where 2 members of staff stepped up, Rosie at the bar introduced us to Sati (sp) (an off duty front desk clerk). She took care of us and arranged that we could stay in the nicer room for the second night. Between the 2 of them we're are going from 1 star to 2 stars. The room we finally got for the 2 nights was 118. Hot water, no mold, however the window and window screen were broken. Repairs were attempted with a sheet of plywood. The trek up to the office for a couple of pool towels resulted in only one, with staff assuring that a ring to house-keeping would do no good. No in room phone. No bell boys or concierge and the stairs are steep. Lugging suitcases to your room will be a challenge. The 3 legged cat that hung outside our room was nice and friendly. Wifi was poor. The Mafolie is very very tired. The food was meh. The coconut shrimp tasted like, and had the texture of, pork... most peculiar. If you have never experienced tropical island accommodations before, you might want to look elsewhere. Even for island style accommodations the Mafolie is struggling to keep up. Bottom line, property needs much TLC and more staff like Rosie & Sati. There is something quite poetic that Mafolie translates to "my madness" in French. This place will get to you after day #2.....but that view though.
This is a good hotel with a fantastic view of Charlotte Amalie Harbor. It is full service with a nice pool, a good restaurant and good rooms. I would stay here again just to sit back, enjoy the view and have Rosey cook me a wonderful breakfast omelet.
We returned to stay here after visiting the restaurant a couple of years prior. We love the view and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms could use a little updating, but with an amazing view and great bar...not much time is spent there!
We stayed at Mafolie many years ago and not much has changed. Accomodations are simple, but done in good taste and clean. Views are outstanding, particularly from #108 with a private baloney. Pool is small, but well maintained. There are a lot of steps, so be prepared. Staff is pleasant and the restaurant is quite good, again with great views. Parking is tight and the approach roads challenging. All in all, a good choice for a short stay.
Was told by locals to eat here before the climb to mountain top. Well worth the meal. 15 bucks for all you can eat buffet. Eggs any style home fries fruit pancakes French toast etc. I'll eat their again any day.
Amazing view from our room. Very cute accommodating rooms, comfortable, clean. All rooms are very different. Not a "traditional" hotel. Very friendly staff. Stairs everywhere so be warned if u have knee/hip problems. Would def stay again!
Literally the best view on the island! We ended our week of sailing the BVIs with fresh showers, sheets and friendly smiles at the Mafolie. Quaint and comfortable offering amazing food. The staff was very accommodating and were eager to make our stay restful. Ask for Cy in the restaurant and Page at the bar. You'll become fast friends. Until next time...
