We took the St Peterline ferry into Russia and used the 'city tour' bus to get to the hotel. The hotel is nice and the rooms are beautiful and very reasonably priced. We ate at the restaurant one night for dinner and each day for breakfast and again it was very nice and a good price. The location is ok - walking distance to the ballet, Hermitage and main sights although it does take 30 - 40mins and it is VERY cold in December!

Good location, adequate breakfast, good room. Outstanding customer service. We were treated to the most beautiful, complimentary afternoon tea by Natalia. Absolutely wonderful touch and would stay here again

4 of us stayed for 3 nights. The general impression was good clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast was good, the staff polite but seemed to be lacking in training, about 5 visits to the table just to clear away plates for 2 people ! On our last evening we chose to eat in the Repin Lounge, we should have noticed the warning signs when we walked in as 1 customer was complaining that he had been waiting for over 10 minutes as still no menu, the restaurant was not very busy. Our 1st order for drinks took over 25 minutes to arrive, even after 2 reminder visits to the bar and the Man there just standing and looking. We were told that it was the first day of a new menu, I asked if I could order a cheeseburger and French fries from the old menu this was written down. 1 hour later 1 meal arrived, another 30 minutes later 2 more meals arrived, eventually my meal arrived 1 Bear Burger ( I hope it was not Yogi) served with some form of cold dry rice. By this time a pleasant gentleman from reception called Gleb was in attendance, he immediately sent back my burger for it to be returned 2 minutes later in a bun with a slice of cheese and cold rice. I was not impressed as I had also been waiting for a long period for a glass of Red wine as well. My food was uneatable. Gleb said no charge for the dinner and drinks and offered us complimentary drinks which we declined. 5 out of 5 for the hotel 1 out of 5 for the restaurant.

Comfortable hotel in a quiet location. We had some great nights sleep here and the food in the hotel was great and they were happy to serve drinks from either the hotel bar or pub bar. Staff very pleasant and helpful and more comfortable speaking English than somewhere like Moscow, perhaps because there are more tourists around e.g. from Cruise ships, etc. The appearance of the hotel is a bit tired in places, e.g. corridor carpets looked very worn and the bathrom looked a bit old and well used, although it did have very pleasant underfloor heating. There was an open drain grill in the bathroom floor and unpleant smells came from here from time to time - other people had similar problems. This needs some investigation. Location is ok - as long as you are reasonably fit and can walk - its about 20-40 minutes to some of the main attractions across the river and about 15 mins to the nearest metro.

I love this place very much. It is near the city center and near my relatives home. Room is big enough ,very cozy and modern, good soundproofing, really comfortable bed. Nice and friendly service. Metro station near, about 200 metres, bus and minibus stop over the road, hotel is within walking distance to good restaurants and museums. The hotel has banya(finish sauna).

Hotel sokos has fantastic staff, i will deinatley recomend. The bar is really good Ekaterina and Christina are a great team and make my stays here really enjoyable. Reception staff are friendly and it is. pleasure to stay at this hotel.

Simply loved staying in Sokos! We also hired the transfer from the Airport and it was really helpful as we didn't know the city or spoken the language. The driver arrived on time and he was very polite and carried our luggage. When we arrived at the hotel we were received by a concierge who spoke Portuguese (we are Brazilians living in London) and that was a very pleasant surprise although English would've worked just fine. Our room was quite big for a standard room and had a shower/bathtub. There was also a kettle, mini-fridge and iron. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was nice and friendly. The only down side is that the hotel is located in Vasilyevsky island which is a bit distant from the city center (around 25min walk) but it's very easy to get to main attractions and the hotel has maps available. A lovely experience and if we are ever to return to St. Petersburg we will definitely stay in Sokos. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Just come back from a visit to St Petersburg with my two sisters . We stayed a the lovely Sokos Hotel Vasilyevsky . It was a beautiful hotel with stylish decor and lovely rooms I was lucky enough to have one to myself which was spotlessly clean and had a lovely comfy double bed with a soft duvet and a large bathroom. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and there was a fab choice of hot and cold food in the morning including a lovely rice pudding Our stay was made even more comfortable by the staff at the hotel the very polite and helpful Aleksander who was so professional and so polite the lovely lady who sat in reception to give advice on where to go and how to get there and what was on in St Petersburg and the fabulous Gleb who was wonderful he knew everything and answered all our questions with professionalism and a wonderful sense of humour especially his explanation as to why Russian men never seem to have the flaps down on their hats and where a good site for an English tea room would be and gave us loads of useful advice he was a real credit to the hotel and I hope that he soon gets the credit he deserves Managers take note We are hoping to plan a return trip on warmer weather and would love to stay at this hotel again

We spent relaxing days in this nice hotel. We loved our superior room with lot of space and stylish red colour interior. Personnel spoke good English and they were so friendly and helpful. The hotel cooperate with Mikhailovsky Theater and compemporary art museum Erarta. A big plus is that they can arrange you tickets for ballet, concert or museum. The main center (Nevsky prospekt) is easy reach by metro. I can warmly recommend this hotel expecially those who are interested in arts and culture. Don't forget to visit Erarta. Is one of the best comtemporary museum I have ever visited.

We stayed for the new Year and had a wonderful stay. Vasilievsky is a charming, refined area just over the river. Most staff spoke English - with the manager Natalia and the male receptionist speaking it excellently. Staff were attentive, courteous and friendly. We could have upgraded our room but didn't because we were very pleased with what we had. there was plenty of cold water available in the room fridge and the room was daily serviced to a high standard. We ate in the restaurant most nights and were pleased with the food. Not a big menu but considering most guests will eat out, we were very pleased with the quality of food, it's preparation and presentation. Breakfast choices were excellent. Don't know if it was for New Year only but we got sparkling wine/champagne every morning.... great for making a Buck's Fizz! Lovely touches- a gift of home-made cookies in the morning and a half-bottle of champagne in the evening on New Year's Eve. I loved the charm of the public areas. There was an art display when we were there, so we were introduced to some fun and interesting sculptures and paintings. There are varied areas one can eat in, from library to lounge, recessed tables to main dining room, so eating in each night could be varied. An interesting feature was the under-pavement heating that kept the whole area in front of the hotel frost and slip-free. Also inset lighting-all great for late returns. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay in your lovely hotel-we would happily stay again. Charmaine
