We stayed at this hotel back in 2012 after arriving a couple of days early before our Viking River Cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow (also wonderful). I was worried that we would be on our own for these couple of days, but the concierge was wonderful. She suggested places for us to go, restaurants, etc. When we decided we needed to exchange more of our US currency, she told us where to go to get it done. I do recommend exchanging your money at the airport. They weren't picky at all in accepting our bills. The bank, though, didn't accept over half of our bills, stating that there was writing or creases. So, before you go, make arrangements with your bank to make sure you have brand new bills, no matter the denomination. We did like the hotel very much.

Stayed for 2 nights recently. Good location, close enough to a metro station. Polite staff. Pleasant interior. Well-equipped rooms for all needs. Multilingual preset channels on the TV. Good service. Meets expectations.

Arrived here yesterday staying from 5-8 Feb 18. Having spent 3 days in Moscow and 3 days in St Petersburg on a weeks package. First impression of hotel Sokos very traditional which I am pleased with. Have a traditionally modern feel but appearance of a typical Russian hotel. All staff especially the receptionists are well spoken in both Russia and English which is far better than the people in Moscow. They are very accommodating and knowledgeable and nothing is too much for them. Excellent food, great service and the rooms are clean beds comfortable. Outside temperature is minus 20 degrees with thick snow but inside hotel and room the temperature was very goo if not too warm I had to turn the temperature down. I would recommend 100%. If there are bad reviews written about this place PLEASE ignore it as not true. I will certainly come back in the summer time. If you would like to experience a Russian based hotel, this hotel is a MUST.

The Solo Sokos Vasilievsky hotel, as it’s name suggests, is located on Vasilievsky Island in St Petersburg. It is sufficiently outside the city centre to be very quiet yet close enough to be accessible. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Vasileostrovskaya metro station on the green (3) line. To reach the metro station turn right out of the hotel and go straight, crossing over the first road and turning right at the second. The metro is a few yards down on the right. There are also lots of busses and trams on this road, with bus 24 and trams 10 & 11 running to Nevisky Prospekt, giving easy access to The Hermitage and other principle sights. On arrival at the hotel, the building is not particularly impressive, however that all changes once inside. The lobby is quite small and the reception desk is facing. The staff were very warm and friendly and they all spoke good English. My details were all accurately confirmed and I was advised that my room had been upgraded. The times and location of breakfast were given to me and the lifts pointed out. There was also a small concierge desk in the lobby area. Again, the staff there spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Sergei was especially helpful with information about where I could find the nearest convenience store. He looked online to let me know what time it closed. Room 201 was on the first floor and was served by a bank of 3 elevators. On entering, I was delighted by the gentle, sumptuous ambiance. The suite was split level, with the bed and writing desk on the upper level and a seating area with four plush armchairs and table below. The large, curtained windows were on this lower level. There was a long sideboard nearby and this contained complimentary drinking water plus wine and snacks for purchase. There was a CD player. A flat screen TV was on the upper level. The room benefitted from large amounts of storage space, an iron and ironing board and a safe. The latter was easy to operate and came with clear instructions. There was a good sized bathroom, with lots of soft clean towels, which were replaced daily. Here was a bathtub with shower and adequate toiletries. Towels and toiletries were replenished daily. The hotel operates a water preservation policy. The room was well heated and had an efficient air conditioning system to cool things down if needed. There were privacy signs near the door and staff respected these at all times. Given that it was facing the main road, the room was extremely quiet and was very effectively sound proofed. All surfaces in the room were immaculately clean and well presented. There was original art on the wall in the sitting room and this brought a feeling of class. There was also an attractive, antique display case containing antique china. The cups for hot drinks in the room were also antique. The king sized bed was incredibly comfortable, with a deep mattress protector and deep, soft duvets. There was also a quality, very attractive cover on the bed. Six very soft pillows were on the bed and sleeping was like resting on air. The entire hotel was like a small museum with art well placed, including paintings, framed photographs and sculptures on display. Each day I noticed something new. When approached, all staff were friendly and helpful and special mention must go to Emil on reception. He gave me lots of information and made suggestions to make things easier. Most impressively he followed up the next day. I spoke with reception the day before my departure and agreed a late checkout of 14:00. Breakfast was taken in the main restaurant and was a Russian buffet. There was a good selection of items and eggs were cooked to order. Staff were busy keeping things well stocked and ensuring that tables were swiftly cleared and cleaned. Tables were well spaced out. Dinner was good and again staff spoke good English and were able to answer questions. The menu offered a cross between Russian and Finnish dishes. Portions were generous. I was ably looked after by Polina, who was gracious and helpful. The hotel had a gym and sauna on the first floor. The gym contained a good range of equipment and the sauna was efficient. The gym was open 24 hours a day and the sauna had dedicated sessions for ladies each day as well as mixed sessions. The bar was very rustic in character and the bar staff were positive and helpful. A large TV monitor was showing sports and there was food available in the bar area. Staff were hard working and constantly busy. Overall, it was a delight to spend three nights at the Solo Sokos Vasilievsky hotel. In its class, it delivers. 5* level of comfort and service. It was so nice to stay in such splendid accommodation and to be in a quiet area, whilst being reasonably close to all public transport.

After visiting Saint Petersburg, Russia, for many years and staying in many different places, I believe I have finally found "my" hotel. My wife and I and our three children (ages 5, 9, 11) stayed in a suite with an adjoining room for a long weekend. The rooms were clean and the location is great. Despite the noise, hustle, and bustle of everything going on outside, the hotel is quiet, which is refreshing. The staff was fantastic and very friendly. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Solo Sokos.

We were here for 3 nights and were very satisfied. The price-quality-ratio is good. The room was located towards the inner yard, so it was very quiet to sleep there. Everything in the hotel worked well for us, nothing at all to complain. The location is very good, you can walk almost everywhere in the historic centre of St. Petersburg.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. We took metro from the railway station and walked to the hotel from there. It is ok if you have luggage with wheels as it takes a while. The room was great and no noise at all. Beds with different types of pillows were good. Only minor detail was that it was quite hot in the room (26-27 C), and we could not get the temperature down. We are used to sleep in 20 degrees :) The breakfast was good and cozy room for that. We also tasted very good Russian sparkling wine Abreu Dorso Brut in the lobby bar and it was so good. The staff was helpful as well.

We've been four persons in two comunicatrd rooms, and we've used the gym room with very new fitness machines. Well go to this hotel the next time that we come to Saint Petersburg, and in the winter ....

We stayed at this hotel for two nights, and overall we were very happy with our stay. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the rooms were stylish, clean and modern. The location was fine, not in the city centre (but we knew this when we made the booking). We like walking so it wasn't a problem for us, but it may be a concern for some. The only complaint we had was that the breakfast room was very busy so it was difficult to find a table - but I suppose this is often the case in busy hotels. The breakfast itself was good. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would happily stay here again!

Hotel is located in near Neva river and easy to travel around the city. Hotel had a nice restaurant and nice pub. Rooms are new and clean. Outside there is wind all the time because the harbour and river.
