nice hotel in downtown

We could walk to almost every place we wanted to visit and find very good restaurants around. The concierge in the lobby was very helpful with directions. We asked to the receptionist if we can check out latter and they let us stay until 6:00 pm with no additional charge, we appreciated that.

The hotel is very well located. Central, close to the Hermitage, and in the middle of downtown, which is very convenient for tourist activities. The staff does speak english, but can improve their proficiency of it. In addition, the hotel is clean and rooms are good. They're spacious and seem to be fairly newly renovated. Although I would say that there are other hotels at the same price range / level that offer more than what the hotel offers. So a bit above the price range I would've expected.

a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful city

The Petro Palace Hotel is a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful walking city. The one meal that we had was excellent and the price was fair. The room was great, well appointed. the staff was very helpful, and anxious to help us. the hetel is charming as well as very elegant, a great combination.

good, no nonsense hotel with comfortable rooms

The hotel is centrally located. Rooms are good size and clean. However, the lobby area needs major upgrade. The two elevators are not synchronized in each floor, so when people usually press both the second elevator also stops. This results in unnecessary stops at almost every floor.

perfect location! spacious accommodations.

Perfect location -- the historic property is a very short walk to St. Issac's -- and an easy stroll to the Hermitage. It is also within reach of nearby churches and the Russian Museum (you can take a taxi/ride-share service to key sites and walk back to hotel along the waterways/canals). The hotel sent an invitation letter in Russian in advance of arrival, which was helpful to persons seeking short-duration, visa-free travel via the St. Peter Ferry Line. The ferry company kept a copy of the invitation letter during the ticketing process upon initial embarkation in Tallinn.

great central location to most visited sites. o

Try the tomato soup and the chicken fillet and the beef fillet. Forget going anywhere else for food. This place is amazing. Also nice Jacuzzi and pool. You will need to relax after walking through the Heritage, St. Isaacs, and the Church of the Spilled Blood. Great hotel, okay beds, wonderful staff.

good for business travelers

located very close to the Nevski prospect (main ave. in the city ) and St Isaac cathedral, it is very convenient. generally speaking its a great hotel for the price and with a nice swimming pool and sauna its worth of staying. for a 4 star hotel bars and restaurants could be more upscale, and interiors need bit more design and probably artworks to be at the 4star level. Interiors, furniture are all brand new which is nice, and rooms have very high ceilings, also a pleasant surprise.

great location but a 2 to 3 star quality

The hotel is close to everything! It' within walking distance to the St. Isaac Cathedral and the Hermitage. But the room I stayed in was small. That's after I requested to change rooms twice, because I was first given a room right next to the Sky Bar which was noisy. The bathroom had the bare minimum and didn't feel like the cleanest. The swimming pool looked dirty. Also, the Wifi, which I had to pay extra for, broke down for one day. The breakfast buffet was not bad. The English level of the hotel staff was average. Overall, the hotel didn't live up to its 4-star rating, but the location was fantastic.
