Nevsky Hotel Grand3.0 out of 5.0

I am not sure why the hotel is called Grand. It was just about alright: the room, the breakfast, the service. The transfer they arranged from/to the airport was quite good actually. Please note that rooms are very small and not very sound-proof. My shower was good but very compact and only good for a reasonably slim person. Try not to have a room facing Bolshaya Konyushennaya St. as it is cobbled and can be quite noisy. The breakfast was very busy and finding a table was a challenge. It could also have been better in terms of variety. But, the hotel is right in the heart of St. Petersburg and can be a good base if you put up with the mentioned inconveniences
The Nevsky Hotel Grand is ideally located for exploring St. Petersburg's main tourist attraction. It's in a side street to Nevsky Prospekt and a few minutes walk from the Hermitage. The rooms aren't all that much to write home about. The bed's are perfectly ok, and the rooms (including) the bathroom were clean. So in all - this is a great location for exploring St. Petersburg's many sights, but perhaps not your best bet if you plan on spending a lot of your stay in your room.
After having stayed at the Petroff Palace in Moscow for less this place was a real let down for us. The rooms are tiny, and very basic. The floor in our room was so dirty I didn't want to take off my shoes and had a very distinct animal urine smell like cat pee. The walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors. The elevator was broken about half the time we were there. BEWARE of the showers, our shower would not maintain an even temperature. It would get progressively hotter rather quickly (like scalding hot). Do not let your children shower alone here. In the US this would be a potential law suit. We booked our rooms through Expedia and they were not cheap. If comparing to a US hotel I would say this place was much like a Motel Six but with smaller rooms and way more expensive. We also paid for the breakfast when we booked. It was meh at best. I would recommend just going out for breakfast instead, for the price you can find much better fare close by. On the plus side it is in a pretty central location.
The location could not have been better - right off the main street and perfect to walk to Hermitage and other main attractions. Rooms were small and very basic, but servicable. Showers were nice with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was a bit of a debacle one morning, as the restaurant is also open to the public and there weren't enough tables or chairs (or crockery or cutlery) for people to use. Our room (facing street) was also a bit noisy, as it's summer so bands play outside until late. Still, the location was great.
We had a great experience at this hotel and I would return again. Staff were helpful and polite. The room was clean and pleasant. The hotel is centrally located in the downtown St. Petersburg just around the corner from Nevesky Prospect. Very close to all of the key tourist sites in the city.
We stayed here for 4 nights and we were a bit worried after reading some of the reviews, but that was unnecessary. The hotelstaff was very friendly & helpful. the room was clean and quite large and had all a hotelroom should need. We had a room on the street side and had the window open at night which was fine for us despite some street noise. Breakfast was fine but we saw sometimes large queues, so we decided to eat breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, very nice. The location of this hotel is the most appealling, it's close to almost every major highlight. I recommend this hotel.
I visited Nevsky grand during the St Petersburg economic forum as it was one of the few hotels that hadn't hiked prices tenfold these particular days. I had low expectations but was positively surprised. Clean, quiet, friendly and a nice little rooftop terrace. I was placed in the next door "energy" part of the hotel. Four flights of stairs and no elevator. No problem for a fairly young traveler with little baggage. But would have been a challenge if I had come with the kids or for travelers with reduced mobility. All in all a surprisingly decent hotel at a competitive price level.
This hotelis sitiated in old center and i can definately recomend this hotel !!! They have perfect stuff! Hotel jave their own nice style. All rooms was clean and nice with all what you can need in rooms.
At the reception lovely and helpful porter. Cleaning in the room was quality. There was a beautiful view from the window, all the sights in walking distance. Breakfasts were delicious, especially pancakes, the waiters were smiling and polite. But the woman at the entrance was not smiling and spoke badly in English, thanks to the waiter Rustam, who helped with the translation. In general, we liked everything, wait for us again :)
I stayed in this hotel last week with my boyfriend. We felt really happy for its strategic position!!!...but... once arrived at the accommodation, we realized that there was no lobby inside (so if you want to spend time surfing on internet or drinking or chatting just before going sleeping, you cannot) so you have to spend time in room. But this could not be a serious problem. The problem is the room. Walls are made of "paper". This means you can listen to what the "neighbours" say and what they do (embarrassing!!!!). Then, breakfast is monotonous ( the same things everyday ) and not satisfying - unpackaged yogurth in a bowl, strange tasting milk, a very small buffet. After all, another positive aspect behind the position, is the cleaning, very good!
