I had a good stay at this hotel, it was tucked away behind Parks Inn but that was not a big problem. I stayed there for 5 nights and my room was made and towels were changed every day. To me, breakfast was good with the pancakes and porriage. Its location was good, the tourist info booth and post office were nearby, there was Galleria-a big shopping complex with cafes, restaurants, shops and a supermarket, the hotel is near Moscow Train Station and Ploschad Vosstania Subway Station. I highly recommend this hotel to first time tourists to St Petersburg.

If you arrive by train from Moscow, this hotel couldn't be more convenient. Official address Nevsky Prospekt, but it's actually on Goncharnaya St. in the courtyard behind the Park Inn hotel. Ring the bell - the hotel is on the first floor (no lift). The reception staff were most welcoming. English was a slight problem from time to time, but on the whole, with gestures, things worked out. If you're thinking of staying for a week or so and you don't need swish hotel accommodation or much time in your room, this is the place to pick. Decoration is fairly basic and on the brown side, but the warmth of the staff members and the price more than make up for this. In room 3 I actually had three rooms: a bathroom, a bedroom, a hall and a sitting area - with fridge. I also had a little desk and working in my room was very pleasant. WiFi is free and works fine. The hotel rooms are located on several floors. Having one (like mine, 3) on the reception floor makes things easier. The accommodation is clean and has minimal room facilities (safe, large cupboard, coffee and tea making set, some soap and shampoo sachets - difficult to open by the way...). If you like blinis (freshly made Russian pancakes) for breakfast, this is the place to be. Both the breakfast staff and the cleaners, plus the reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast itself was quite minimal: bread, cereal, jam, milk. Go for the blinis! Served with a big smile! I was sorry to leave, as, after four days it became home from home. Oh yes, if you need anything for your room, like a bottle or something to nibble, there are lots of 24hr shops. Down the road is a nice bakery.

The hotel entrance is not located on Nevsky Prospect. It's in a backyard next to the Park In hotel on Goncharnaya street via a back lane. You have to ring the bell and go up by stairs to the 2nd floor. Cons: The breakfast is very very limited: pancakes, tea, coffe and some cereals. Pros: It's very near of the train station (Moscow). Our room was large and clean. The personnel friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very difficult to find. It's next the Park In hotel, you go to the parking of that hotel and the Nevsky Express Hotel is there on the right. You have to ring the bell and go up. You don't have an elevator. Ask the hotel the entrance code because sometimes there are no staff in the reception to let you in. No proper AC. The breakfast is very limited (no juice) very few bread and no cakes or croissants :D Pancakes, mill, tea, coffe and some cereals. It's very near of the train station (Moscow). There is a very typical smell in the corridors and bedrooms...

This is a great value for money. The venue is located in the heart of the ex-royal city. All major attractions are within walking distance, as well as wonderful metro system. Pleas make sure you ask whether your room/apartment faces the main street. It is important from noise management point of view.

First impressions sometimes lie and this is definitely the case for this hotel. We arrived after an overnight train trip from Moscow. It is 10 min walking distance form the station but be warned that the entrance is certainly less than salubrious. Although located on Nevsky the entrance is via a rather seedy back lane. The solid security entrance door is opened only by buzzing the intercom at the entrance. The reception is two floors up a narrow staircase, we arrived early in the morning (8am-ish) but the security helped us with the luggage(thankfully). we booked a 'luxury' room at the price of 160Euros per night - a bargain by St Petersburg standards - and the room was extremely large( with separate lounge area) and comfortable and included a spa bath. Although breakfast was included we were never up in time to see what this consisted of- as it was time of summer nights the nights went quite long. The hotel is small and is equipped with a small kitchen/common area. Do not come expecting a 5 star experience and you should not be disappointed. We found this hotel to be extremely comfortable, clean, friendly .... and of course affordable. Location was almost perfect close to train staions and within walking distance of much of central St Petersburg with many resaurants close by. One tip- if out late at night may be advisable to to get the taxi to drop you at the door to avoid the walk through the alley.

The Hotel came across as a straightforward business serving Russian and international guests with a friendly and helpful approach. At the time of booking, staff had been absolutely brilliant getting the documentation for the visas. Rooms were small and basic but clean and very well presented with a fully tiled en suite half bath/shower and toilet. Hair drier, electric point (220v) and underfloor heating for the ceramic floor tiles. Quite a typical 2* hotel. Breakfast was served from a smart domestic kitchen with a small adjacent room containing 4 tables. All well kept. Typical Russian breakfast - meat, cheese, eggs, toast, coffee from a machine. The outside I found unattractive. The location is on the prestigious Nevsky Prospect, but it is on the far side of Vosstania Square, which I thought was a bit plain and functional. There is no entrance at all from Nevsky - the entrance you see on the internet is an unassociated shop. Entrance is via a solid steel door in a courtyard accesssed from Goncharskaya Street. The photos of these will show you how to get there and what to expect. We saw people scavenging in the bins and small groups of people assembled in the courtyard for no reason I could discern. However, we walked past in daylight without being bothered by anyone during our three days. The hotel itself fulfilled is function quite adequately. All the areas of the two floors devoted to the hotel had been maintained to a high standrd. The common areas in the block were, however, of a lower standard The rest of Nevsky Prospect was in easy waliking distance, even though the Hermitage end was probably 2-3 kilometers away. Buses abound at 15RUB a trip. For anyone unwilling to pay the prices of hotels like the Nevsky Corinth Palace, only a couple of hundred yards away, this provides a budget alternative. Next time, I might choose to spend just a little more in the hopes of improving the surroundings but would not have a problem using the hotel again.

Durchgängig, alle drei, an beiden Tagen.
