City Hotel Comfitel3.0 out of 5.0

We stayed there for 6 nights. Small hotel, decent rooms, clean, nice personnel, a few hundred meters away from the metro station. You may reach the city center by metro in 10 minutes. There are also buses and tramways. If you don't plan to spend the whole day in the hotel room, it is a fair deal.
Hotel room was very comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful. It is within easy walking distance to St Petersburg's main attractions and there are plenty of nice restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. It also has a great breakfast included in the room rate. Free Wifi was also quick.
stayed here for 4 nights. Not a bad option if you are on a budget. The rooms are good size for St Petersburg standard, and the staff are friendly with good knowledge of English. It is a little way out from the centre, however there is a metro station about 5-10min walk that can get you there in no time. The only negative for me was, every time you need enter the hotel, the reception needs buzz you in, so if you do like staying out until early in the morning, be prepared to wait outside for some time, if not, then no problem. One of the cities more infamous clubs 'Metro' is located 5 mins from hotel. All in all is a decent hotel, and I would stay there again.
The Hotel doesn't look great from outside but once you are in, starts to get better and better. The rooms are very clean and the staff are nice and helpful even when their english is not exactly good. The breakfast could be honestly better, the serve the same everyday but it is enough to start the day. The location is ok, close to some Metro stations but no too close to the center, is a good option.
A very nice hotel for the price I paid (1200 rubles). Good furniture, free wi-fi, essential breakfast included. No problems during my stay, very quiet. the only thing I would have changed is that there is no luggage storage - you are supposed to keep youк belonings under the stairs.
Pros: - Real budget offer - Clean - Breakfast included - Just three stops away from Nevsky Prospect and Moscovsky Railway Station, by public transport: tram or bus Cons: - Five story building with no elevator, be aware - Magnetic door lockers malfunctioned occasionally - Room equipment was partially damaged - Bath room doesn't have tube or floor heating - No minibar - Cafe's food is horrible, the kitchen smell is everywhere - Noise proof required, road traffic is too intensive - No air conditioning, window opening would be useless due to noise (above) and dust - Heating doesn't have manual temperature control
Good location as it is just 6 minutes from Metro "Obvondy Canal" and just walk straight along Ligovskiy Prospekt. We live here for 7 nights. It is close to many attractions on foot or a few stops by Metro to city or other islands. The overall service at Reception, Breakfast-serving staff and Cleaning staff are helpful and very good. It has around 30+ rooms, and a Separate Whole building ( 5 storeys) as the hotel. There is always a staff member at Reception who can converse with customers in English, and can unerstand our English. They help us with the Registration as it is the requirement in this country and act promptly. The breakfast is OK and we have hot foods like sausages, scrambled eggs... ; corn flakes, ham, cheese, bread and cakes, drinks, .. and always Refill. The room service is good and the cleaning maids keep our room clean and tidy. The room is spacious, nearly 18 square metres and the Bed in our Double room is very large. The air conditioner runs well and keeps us cool all the time. As we have good sleep and plentiful foods for the breakfast, we feel energetic every day when we travel by Metro or train or bus to various attactions, like Hermitage, Winter Palace, Peter and Paul's fortress, Cruiser Aurora, Peterhof for Summer Palace, and many cathedrals and museums. We can do so many sightseeing tours in the whole week, besides our time spent in meeting with our Russian business partners in Saint Petersburg. The only drawback is having no lift. As long as our baggage is not heavy and since each Step in the staircase is wide, thus we do not find it difficult in taking the baggages up. There is a big supermarket in the same buliding as the Metro ( Obvodny Canal) and we can buy all foods and products easily at reasonable prices. Overall, we enjoy our stay in this hotel with respect to its Service, Spacious Standard Double-Room's size and good cleaning, and plentiful Breakfast with frequent Refill, ..... It is Value for money for such competitive hotel price. Definitely, we will come back to this hotel when meeting with our Russian business partners again in a few months' time.
Terrible, terrible, terrible... where do we begin? Positives: relatively close to metro (10 mins walk, approx); better than sleeping on the streets (just about). Negatives: Filthy rooms (we paid in full, otherwise would have cancelled second stay during break- fortunately one night, so we stayed in two different rooms) with soiled carpets (can they not clean them?); inadequate, uncomfortable beds with disgusting pillows with black stains from saliva and God knows what else (!); mould-ridden fridge (that is nice and warm); mouldy bathroom that was dirty, with poor quality towels provided (good, if you want to exfliate while ou dry off!); basic breakfast that we ate only once - that was enough; and, to top this all off, RUDE and surly staff, totally unhelpful. We booked a train to Moscow at 6:45am, asked for alarm call but they forgot - just as well we woke, as we pre-paid our tickets and they had been expensive. Dreadful hotel, one of worst we've stayed at in Europe and we've stayed in many. We were not guests; we we're an inconvenience. Noisy rooms at front - our booking said 'courtyard view' but both times we were given rooms at the front. Why? "None available." AWFUL experience. But, St petersburg was lovely!
The price is normal, rooms with airconditioning are very nice, the ones without are a bit noisy because of the busy street in front of the hotel. Breakfast was average but not much choice and sometimes products are not supplemented. The hotel is outside the center, nearest metro is 10 minutes walk.
Pros: This hotel is relatively close to the airport. Also, the price was competitive and the staff were sometimes helpful. Cons: The air conditioner did not work because there was no outlet to plug it in and no extension cord to reach existing outlets. I opened the window hoping to get fresh air - big mistake - mosquitos. I was on an upper floor […] and there is no elevator. The refrigerator did not work properly. Food was still warm. The carpet was dirty and threadworn. Water was slow in draining from the bathtub, so I showered in ankle deep water. The rooms were not well insulated for noise. At three AM I was woken up by two drunks and a woman talking loudly in the hallway and in their room. The breakfast consisted of baloney, cheese, "hot dogs," bread, a small number of pastries, yogurt, juice, and coffee. The yogurt tasted like it was put out repeatedly. The food was not replentished so that if you went down to eat later in the morning , there was very little to choose from. The neighborhood is poor compared to other neighborhoods in St. Pete. Also, unless you know how to use the metro, you will find it difficult getting from the hotel to other parts of the city. My advise: stay here if you must catch a flight latter in the day, will be driven to the airport between the hours of 6 AM and 8 PM, and do not wish to pay a large amount of money for a one night stay to catch a flight out of St. Pete. There is at least one hotel that is much better than this one and is closer to the airport, but it is also much more expensive. I would avoid this hotel if you want to stay more than one night in St. Pete. - e.g. tourism.
