I am a Peace Corps Volunteer and we were evacuated from Dominica because of Hurricane Maria. It was very nice to have a place like the Palm Haven Hotel to stay in during that time. Everything was clean and our laundry was done very quickly. Great food, nice staff, and close to the marina where there are many nice restaurants.
I used this hotel for a solo getaway. When booking, the receptonist sounded bored and uninterested. That should have been my first sign. I arrived before the stated check in time and was told that I could go into the room. I got in there and the desks in the room were dusty. There was no AC remote, the wifi did not work. How can the wifi at a business centre not work? I went to the reception area and I was again met with the same boredom about my query. The local Internet provider was blamed with not even an attempt to make a follow up call to appease me. Another colleague was passing and tried to assist me. At one point the front desk attendant rolled her eyes. She was asked if she called the manager to alert him that the wifi had an issue and she was sarcastic almost to the point where she has me thinking that she has no faith in the manager. The package promised complimentary cocktails but the bar attendant said that she is not trained to do such. She is the only one at the bar and when she goes to lunch there is no one to attend to you unless the front desk agents decide to walk across. The beds are creaky, the shower dispenser was broken. If it wasn't for Jeff who stopped to assist with the wifi and the housekeeping staff i would have left the hotel a mere hour after checking in. I should also mention that the bar attendant was helpful in trying to make my drink.
Having received an email confirmation of our booking and a reservation number on January 26, 2017 we were disappointed to be told there was no record of our booking. Fortunately, there were rooms available. The next disappointment was the room. Although clean and tidy with comfortable beds, there was no chest of drawers; 2 hangers only in the cupboard (no more were available); a fridge that did not work; no hooks to hang clothes in the bathroom and lights that did not burn(bathroom and table lamp). We also noted that several lights in the corridors were not working. There was little variety in the breakfast - eggs everyday except one. Bananas were the only fruits offered. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the staff generally did not appear to enjoy their work. There were few smiles and greetings had to be extracted out of them. Really, they were largely lacking in customer service quality. We did, however, have a pleasant exchange with the maid who serviced our room and the receptionist who checked us in was pleasant. In summary, the rate charged was not justified.
We received a warm welcome from staff when booking and checking in. after that it turned terrible. Aircon not working properly and vents dirty. The toilet was blocked and when we reported it, we were told to come and fetch a toilet plunger and unblock it ourself. Arrived for breakfast 8am. No bowels or spoons for cereal or plates for toast. When we politely asked how breaskfast works we were given a rude reply.
Really nice quiet hotel right opposite Rodney Bay Marina. Good sized bedrooms and bathrooms all spotlessly clean. Well kept and pleasant gardens with a good swimming pool. Staff all polite and helpful. A good base for touring wonderful St. Lucia. Great value for money
I checked into my Superior Deluxe Room #209 on the first floor on the 13th April, 2017 and first made it to the bed to test out it comfortableness for which I give a pass for a 3 star hotel. The room had all the amenities applicable for this room type but it could do with some refurbishment upon entering the room there was a musty scent probably because it was unused and closed up for awhile but as the days went by it went away.The bathroom was spacious and the water pressure was good the only issue was ants invaded whatever you put on the countertop. Apart from that the room was otherwise clean. The location of this room you can see the mariner and the main road where it is accessable to public transport. From inside the room the patio overlooks the pool and there is the view of other rooms patio and the gazebo. Breakfast was good for continental, everday there was something different on the menu they never disappoint for time I spent there and the other guests that met on mornings were also pleased. The staff seems pleasant and helpful for the ones I had one on one interaction with at the front desk. The kitchen staffs were very mannerly and carried out their duties with a sense of pride. Location, location is everything for me when choosing a hotel and Palm Haven is position in the ideal place short distance to the shopping center in Rodney Bay. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in St.Lucia
There for a business trip, rooms and restaurant could use some refurbishment, but what really impressed me was the warmth and great service of its staff. Mr. Fernan Cools and the ladies at the front desk: Zakeya, Tamira, Cherise, and Inerly (plus a lady at the restaurant whose name I didn't catch, but who made it sure I had some bacon for breakfast when she realized I couldn't eat any of the protein available) went the extra mile to assist me during my stay. I do a lot of business traveling and this is by far the best staff I've ever seen in terms of disposition. Not the greatest hotel for business traveling, but its staff makes up for it. I'd certainly check it if vacationing in St. Lucia.
If you stay here for any other reason than a day before or after a boat trip, you'll be sorely disappointed. The restaurant is jail food on a bad day. Power shortage, no fruit, no milk, unhelpful staff.
Only reason we stayed here is because it's close to the Marina and we were here for a Regatta - great location for that. Otherwise would not recommend it. Rooms are ok but Restaurant is very poor. Would not stay here again
Our two week stay here was a wonderful experience. Everyone on the staff was helpful, courteous, friendly and welcoming. The food and food service was great, as was the cleanliness and comfort of our room. We would rate Palm Haven right up there with any 4 star hotel in the US.
