Marriott's St. Kitts Beach Club4.0 out of 5.0

We recently stayed at Mariott's St. Kitts, for six night. We had wonderful experiences. Very cordial and friendly environment. We are looking forward to stay again when we will comeback to St.Kitts. We would highly recommend this place.
This property has all you need to enjoy a week in the sun. Beautiful beach, pools, Spa and the choice of restaurants made mealtime so enjoyable. Duty free liquor, jewelry and sundries shops are on site. Rooms were very spacious and the staff was extremely helpful in all things pertaining to the vacation. There is a newish food store within walking distance for anything you would need in your timeshare or hotel room. There are several restaurants within walking distance if you wanted to leave the property. Cabs will average 10.00 us dollars a trip. We didn't rent a car. This was our 2nd vacation here and we will surely be back.
We're Marriott Platinum & Timeshare owners; love we can combine our points to accommodate our growing family here! We had a 2 bed/2 bath Oceanview condo in the timeshare & an Oceanview in the hotel section. The airport is minutes away from the property! We use Chris Brookes as our personal driver for the week and honestly, he makes the experience (1-869-764-4000) I send him our itinerary and he is always waiting with a VERY clean & air conditioned van! You can walk to Cork & Screw (about two blocks from the Marriott) and purchase great wine & spirits (amazing selections!!) Ram's Express has moved locations and now is across the street from the hotel. It is double the size of the old Ram's X and they allow you to use the grocery carts to push your purchases back to the hotel. Hence, anything from Cork & Screw and Rams can be pushed back in the cart:) We love how you can get a beach chair or pool lounge any time! The last thing we want to do is wake up and "labeling our chairs at 6am" on vacation. This visit the beach was the place to be. Low winds, minimal seaweed and the most wonderful weather. We found great ocean access to swim & walked the beach for at least a good mile! Our last visit we spent most of the time at the pool, but that is Mother Nature, not the resorts fault. Our favorite dining on site: Pizza Shack, Bohemia Beach (pool side dining is surprising good and can accommodate the lunch rush). Although we didn't dine here this time we've enjoyed Blu, Royal Grille & La Cucina. Off site: our go-to Jam Rock has moved to "walking distance" to the Marriott (or a $2pp cab ride). Bobsie's Food Truck for Wings (now can deliver to hotel thru local "869ToGo" online)! Enjoyed the sunset at Salt Plague, drinks weren't up to our hype but you can't beat the view & atmosphere (bring bug spray for after sunset). Dinner at Spice Mill, Sprat Net (Wed or Fri) for lobster fest & live music & Mr. X Shiggidy Shack for bonfire on Thursday. We took the public ferry to Nevis one day and did the Funky Monkey tour. Highly recommend. Also, did an all day sail with Nevis Yacht Charters and Miles Denne. We'll be back as we love the island, our driver Chris Brookes, resort (forgot to mention our boys loved the casino & Sports Book during March Madness) & need to try a few more restaurants, Marshall's & Pavillion as well as visiting our favorites:)
Looking for a quiet place that isn’t crowded like Aruba and St. Martin then this is it. If you are staying in the hotel part ask about the all inclusive packages so the restaurant costs don’t kill you. It you are in the timeshare then you have Rams grocery right across the street. Prices are higher for most things so bring what stables you have room for in your bags. Only thing cheap in the grocer store is alcohol. Hotel restaurants are high priced and quality was not the best. Best deal is the pizza shack when at the pool. Staff is exceptional! We can’t say enough about their helpfulness and going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Our son got a simple fever/sick and they called to check on him several times. The pools were always clean and never so crowded you couldn’t find a chair. The beach has massive amounts of seaweed and was nice to see but we avoided it because the kids are use to clear/clean beaches. Taxi’s are readily available and for $16-24 you get up to four people anywhere you want. Driving yourself isn’t hard but they drive on the left and many of the roads are narrow and winding. We choose not to rent since we all wanted to drink and not drive.
We arrived early. Nicola arranged for transportation to the hotel and Triscan was waiting for us at the airport. All the ladies at the desk were extremely helpful. The condo was clean with all the accouterments needed in the kitchen. As always, the Marriott beds are more than comfortable. Three pools with plenty of lounges, good food, check out my review of la cuccina, on property. Nicola arranged for a guided tour of the island with Triscan. I would suggest this tour rather that the train and the bus. We rode the entire island and saw everything. The people are genuinely nice and go out of their way to help you with suggestions for restaurants and attractions to see. American TV so we were able to see all,the NCAA games on large flat screen TVs. We have been trying to get to this island for a while and we are happy we spent the week here.
Just returned from a week stay at the hotel. We found it to be very nice. We are not high maintenance travelers, and spend a lot of our vacation time exploring the island, not in the hotel room. The 1 bedroom suite was perfectly sized for our family of 4, including 2 teenagers. It has a spacious main sitting/dining area with a bathroom, and a large bedroom area with a walk-in closet area and a large bathroom. The separate toilet are was also nice for privacy. The room was very clean, and the housekeeping staff was friendly and responsive. The staff was extremely friendly, particularly Cjay at the front desk and Cynthia at the tour desk. Both were very helpful and pleasant. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, that were very good. Particularly Rituals Coffee for breakfast. They also own the Sushi place next door that was very good. The hotel restaurants were very good, but pricey (as expected). The steak restaurant was excellent, the seafood restaurant was closed for private events while we were there, so we did not get to try it. The pool area is nice, with plenty of chairs. The beach was also very nice. Atlantic side, with cabanas and plenty of chairs. We actually preferred this beach to the more crowded beaches on the Caribbean (Reggae Beach and the like). We are more adventurers than sit by the pool and drink people, so this hotel provided the perfect place for our family to enjoy the island and the friendly people.
I cannot believe Marriott thinks this property should be classified as “luxury” property. I am a Marriott member and totally disappointed in the service, staff attitudes, prices and the need for renovations. On day one I knew I wasted my money staying here. I chose the all inclusive supplement as I had read reviews of the meal pricing. Oh how right they were. $14 for 2 slices of white bread used for French toast, 10 or so blueberries and a half a banana. This does not include tax, 12.5%service fee nor gratuity. As far as staff attitudes, I went to lobby bar, stood there quite awhile, when bartender came over. She didn’t ask how she could help, just stood there until I asked for a drink. First morning at breakfast, I went up to waffle station, the women stood there and again did not ask how she could help. I had to ask for the waffle. One morning I sat there over 10 minutes for a glass of water, oh I never ordered yet either. Only 5 tables had guests, so it wasn’t like they were busy. The following morning, they nearly kissed our feet to make up for this. Maybe you should have better staff. Maid service, literally the worse attitudes there. When asking for towels as the room had not been cleaned yet, it’s now 3:30p, I was told “ you need to be patient as I just got on duty”. What? I didn’t ask her to clean room, just for towels. The room never got cleaned until 5p. This attitude was all week. I brought this to attention of a manager. He stated it would not happen again. I ran into a housekeeping manager, she explained their attitudes will not change as they are not paid enough . The cost of living there forces them to take a boat to St Maarten to shop for clothing. Guess we know why they are miserable. Now let’s talk about renovations needed; MOLD on the air conditioner vents in the rooms. We both started feeling sick after 4 days. We thought we were getting colds. Now having second thoughts. The pool needs resurfacing, no air conditioning in Blu Restaurant, cracks in drywall and tile floors. Luxury hotel? The bars ran out of sprite on day one and never replaced it. Certain drinks are only available at outside bars, so after 6p only the lobby bar is open, choose another drink. Amenities: spa and fitness room. That’s it! Entertainment: None Spa: treatment was great, but very noisy. No music playing so you hear everything outside Food: very good, but outrageously priced Property: grounds are beautiful and well maintained I have been around the world and never had such terrible service. Maybe you should hire people from Jamaica. They are the friendliest people I have ever met and make you feel welcome to their country. I will never return!
We enjoyed our stay at the timeshare. The staff and all the people on this Island are super nice and helpful. I really enjoyed the hotel being surrounded by the timeshare units. This made our stay very convenient for taxi service and to enjoy all the amenities of the hotel. The weather was a bit to windy for us but we came during their rainy season. There are three pools so you are always able to find seating easily. We went to a Caribbean beach off the Marriott property but I can honestly say the Marriott beach is the best. The restaurants at the hotel are very good and worth going to. There are also restaurants in walking distance from the Marriott-Caio_very good, Rock Lobster we will be trying tonight. Marshals is a must but bring your pennies but the food and the view is not to be missed. Will be back again.
Because St. Kitts lacks a lot of higher end hotels, this hotel gets a higher rating then it should. While my stay was nice, the staff attentive and the selection of food ok, I still would not put this in the 4.5 star category. More like a 3 star. I think with the Hyatt opening up, the Marriott will need to step up its game. Healthy competition should be good for this place to get it to do some much needed TLC to the property. Our room, #400, was a nice location, secluded away from the middle of the hotel. It was clean, comfortable bedding, and nice view of the ocean and one of the side pools. We ate at the Italian restaurant and enjoyed our meal there as well as from Cafe Calypso. Breakfast is a rip off at the actual Calypso restaurant so if you just want coffee and a quick breakfast just hit up the cafe and save yourself at least $30.00 or walk down the street to the selection of cafes. The main lobby of the hotel looks great, current and lively. Its beyond that where the hotel needs to clean up the place. The pool bathrooms have rotting wood, decay and mold. Understand the climate, but its the small things. The pool lounge chairs need to be upgraded to even just the chairs they have on the beach with actual separate umbrellas. Just those alone bring down the classiness of this hotel. Also there is no bar service on the beach. No one walks around asking if you want to place a food or drink order. I found this odd given its an easy way to make a profit. Positives: wide open beach on the Atlantic Ocean side, ample beach chairs on the sand, good size fitness center, free parking, friendly staff and convenient location. Overall: for an average $550+ a night (before incidentals) this needs to step up its game, but probably won't till more competition comes it way on that side of the island and they see a decrease in bookings.
We just returned from a fabulous week at the Marriott St Kitts Vacation Club. The property well exceeded our expectations. The 2 bedroom villa was perfect for us with our 2 grown children. It was so spacious and had everything possible we needed. We felt like we were at home. The beach and pools were immaculate and very well maintained. The front desk staff was wonderful, especially Nicola who made sure all our plans and reservations were taken care of. We will definitely be back and will tell all our friends and family about our wonderful time.
