If you are looking to "unplug", this is the place. A small number of cottages in different sizes, most of which open directly on the beach and ocean. Swimming and snorkeling gear are provided, and the "Sand Castle" hotel right next door has an awesome patio to enjoy sundowners while actually watching the sun go down. Understand that this isn't a Hyatt or Marriott but a locally owned and operated hotel which makes up for a squeaky door with a lot of heart and soul. There is plenty of parking, a supermarket within a mile, and the west side beaches are the nicest on the entire island. We stayed at the "Cottages by the Sea" for over a week and loved every day of it.

I have stayed here twice many years ago, it was good, but this time it has been upgraded, and beautiful! I have ZERO complaints about my visit, the property, staff, everything I needed was available, I will be back very soon for sure‼️The beach, just wonderful‼️

Everyone was extremely helpful and kind! They truly cared for us and made our stay exceptional! The best beach on the island for swimming and snorkeling absolutely stunning views! They staff really takes care of the property and have amenities for all your needs. Definitely recommend this property for anyone coming to st croix!
Very nice place to stay we where right on the beach also able to cook our own food so that was nice. I would stay there again.. Only issue we had our plane came in after 9pm. Hard to find on GPS. Also when we arrived had a little panic trying to get to our room no one around and the number givien to me to call after check in hours no one answered. I called the number about 6 times in about 20 minutes then Robert answered phone. So all in all we really like the cottages they where clean and all the people where really nice had a good time.
Perfect beachside accommodations with the best beach in Frederiksted! Rooms are clean and have everything you need for your stay, and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

Cottage By the Sea is a real find. The other positive reviews on Orbitz are accurate. It is a quaint setup with a very laid back feel. We stayed in Carol's Rest. Two adults and one nine year old in our group. It was just right for our family. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The place is well maintained given the recent storm damage to the island as a whole. The beach access is great. We visited many of the beaches on St. Croix. We found the beach at our Cottage to be the best that we visited. The hurricane exposed lots of limestone formations and it has lots of sea life to enjoy. We had a very good time exploring. We stayed 7 days and did not want to return home. We plan to visit again next year. We would like to thank the staff for a lovely stay. St. Croix as a whole has a long way to go in getting back to normal. Overall, we had a great time despite the setbacks. If you want a place to get away from the normal tourist trap scene, St. Croix has that to offer. The only negative aspects we encountered on the island was the very poor condition of the roads and lack of working traffic lights. The price of food is also very high compared with mainland US. We hope everyone supports St. Croix with their tourism. It will go a long way in the rebuilding efforts. Check rental car availability before booking your travel. Depending on the time, they can be hard to get.
My stay was during Irma.I felt completely save through it all from the confidence of Paul,one of the owners.Cottages By The Sea has a large generator that kept everything on except the TV which they had no control over.Great staff.I am glad we choose Cottages By The Sea.I would definitely come back for another vacation.Thank You PAUL AND YOUR STAFF FOR KEEPING SUSAN AND I SAVE.GOD BLESS YOU ALL......
