A beautiful building that contains many original features including lovely old furniture. We had a huge room with great balcony with views over the bay, gardens, and enjoyed watching the monkeys.... The hotel is set in lovely gardens with fantastic views over the bay. We went to the hotel after making booking arrangements over the phone as we are locals, and once we go there reception refused to give a room, saying the booking is not written in the book. As it was late evening, after several discussions, they offered room with utter mess. There were 2 beds and a old TV in the room, and no any other furniture, even a mirror. Room was with full of mosquitos, smelly and the bath room is horrible. Shower only working hot water line, and very little water coming, bidder shower broken, water not draining in the bath room and stagnated. No hospitality at all, but cost is very high compared to other very nice hotels in Trincomalee. I never recommend anybody to visit this place because it will entirely spoil your journey to Trinco!!!

Made a blunder in booking this hotel. Nothing about this place was enjoyable- very old room/ wash room, dirty sheets, full of mosquitoes, poor quality food, rude staff and manager. The hotel tried to exploit us for an extra bed at 4 times the price mentioned in our booking confirmation. To top this, the General Manager was arrogant, high-handed and not prepared to receive feedback. Do not stay here even if recommended by tour guides as it is not at all money's worth.

We initially rejected this hotel because of the adverse TA reviews but got a good price elsewhere so decided to give it a try. The reviews were wrong. The hotel has been completely overhauled in the last few months, new very friendly GM, fresh paint, pool very clean, new furniture and attentive and competent wait staff. Great location for views and gardens (and monkeys of an evening). Food was very good and you could basically order what you wanted. Only downside is the breakfast (at 1500rps) was pretty poor, except one morning when an Indian family of 10 arrived so they put on a big spread. Manager said they had spent 40 million rps on the upgrade and I believe him. Great view and only a cheap ride to town.

I am shaking with fear and anger as i am typing up this review. This hotel was booked for us for 2 nights as a part of a 12 day tour around Sri lanka. From the minute we walked into the hotel everything went downhill. The hotel is very dirty and extremely ill maintained. The bed sheets were stained and the fridge was old and rusty. The room decor was ancient and the bathroom even more ancient. We asked the front desk to change the bedsheet and we about to go out for lunch. I returned to the room and realised that the locked door could be pushed open without using the key. I returned to the front desk to complain about the lock and they promised to fix the lock while we were away. We returned to the hotel at 7pm after being out the rest of the day. The kids and i realised that the pool was murky and had many insects swimming in it. I asked the staff if the pool was safe to swim in and was told by the GM that they had mixed chlorine and alum in the water at 5 pm. I then asked him why they would do it at 5pm and make pool unusable for hotel guests. He then proceeded to say in an aggressive manner that this is how it is done in all hotels in Sri lanka. I told him i have stayed in 6 other hotels over the last few days and this was never done in any hotel. He then rudely told us to find another hotel. I asked him if this is how he talks to guests and he then said this hotel belongs to an important government minister and he knows how to deal with me. I was shocked at his rudeness and threatening manner especially because i was with my kids and my husband wasn't around at that time. I returned to the room in fear and anger before things escalated. This kind of behaviour from the GM is rude beyond words and his agressive manner was very scary. I am not sure what i will be doing after typing up the review...most definitely checking out within the next 30 mins.

Very old run down building. Very dirty, cockroaches, broken shower, dirty old sheets. No electricity or water half of the day and the staff did not inform us. And when other guests complained the manager didn't care. There was only 5 guests in the hotel and we would have moved if we didn't arrive at night! Arrogant unhelpful staff. The only thing it has is a good view of the harbour. Don't go!!

What is going on with the door handles? Having said that a step back in time. Met some great people and the views from our balcony were awesome. Excellent food and excellent service. The fish market at Trinco town is well worth seeing. Look out for the Spotted Deer.

We stayed there one night. There was no hotwater, a problem with the system, the room was old, the bathroom needed renovation. The bathtub was not clean. The staff was helpful. Food was average. Dinner took sometime but the views were great

We went for lunch here on a Monday. We were the only guests. The food was average, and they only accepted cash. This hotel was the location for some unpleasant war-time events; even though it has been refurbished, there is still a somewhat creepy feeling to the place. Maybe it would have been better during a busier time. The view from the outside dining area is quite nice; there was a cool breeze, in the middle of a hot Sri Lankan day.
