Had booked this place online for 3 days and two nights. The location was very nice, right on the beach, so apart from having their own pool there was an option to swim or walk along the beach. Housekeeping staff were prompt and rooms were very clean except that the drains had a foul smell. Having taken the part board package, the buffet for breakfast and dinner was extensive. Wide choice of different types of cuisine and floor managers were very friendly and hospitable. All in all it made our stay quite memorable.
The hotel is is in a secluded spot and located by the beach. The depth of the sea was about 4 to 5 feet for about 40 feet or more so that it was like a big swimming pool. The hotel had a heated pool too but it was of one depth, ideal for kids. The food was served "Buffet Style" a very wide variety at breakfast, lunch and dinner - salads and smoothies for natural food lovers (I recommended to the staff that they should include "Moringa" leaf in smoothies, in "green" salads and for their omelettes), rice and curry for the locals and a "Pasta" station, Grilled meat station etc. etc.. There was also a restaurant for snacks and meals. The rooms, toilets etc. were neat and clean and everything worked. Apart from swimming, there were many out-door activities available such as whale watching, scuba diving around Pidgeon Island (a nature reserve) where we saw a variety of reef fish including small shark, but it was sad to see the mass of dead coral (caused by the 2005 Tsunami). There is also the "Hot Springs" (Thermal baths) favoured by the locals and a whole host of sea-food eateries all over town. The access road to the Hotel was rather narrow - probably because Trincomalee is an old town with a deep water harbour used during World War ll to anchor the largest vessels in the British fleet. We had a "Group Discount" as our grand kids (3 of them) were taking part in a Sailing Competition - so we were kept on our toes, but still managed to have a restful holiday
Stayed for 3 nights. Pre-booked it on the Cinnamon site before we arrived and wished we hadn't. This is an old hotel and it's way overdue for a makeover. The rooms are very outdated and need a revamp. However the worst thing about the room was the foul stench that comes up from the bathroom/shower drain. It's disgusting. and seems to be a common complaint. The hotel is in a great location on the beach and the pool is amazing. They have this stupid system though where if you want a pool towel you have to find the sole pool attendant to get them. If he's busy on the beach you're left standing in the hot sun for 10 minutes until he comes back. Then you sign for your towel. When you finish with your towel you have to go through the whole ritual again to return it and sign it back. Very frustrating. The food was amazing. We had the half board package so had buffet breakfast and dinner and it really was superb with plenty of choices. The restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient. We found the reception staff to be rude however. There's meant to be wifi in rooms but it doesn't work. Complained to the duty manager ( Hilary) and his response was to say that he has the same problem with poor wifi himself. As guests we don't want to hear this - we expect to hear from a manager that if you have an issue then you address it. I've never met a more disinterested person than this Hilary. His customer care factor was zero. Seems to be a common compliant about the lack of working wifi here - so if being in touch with the outside world whilst you're on holiday is important to you - then stay somewhere else.
Levels of service provided was terrible. Choice of food provided for the price is below average. Terrible service provide for locals at the restaurant. 3 of us went for lunch and the table was set up only for two. Had to ask the staff for cutlery and serviettes. Plates were not cleared from the lunch table. Had to ask them to clean them. Water was not provided. Again had to request for water. Noticed that the ill-treatment was only for locals as the staff was providing a good service to all foreigners . Had a sprain in my neck in the evening and asked for first aid from the front desk to which no one responded. We had to walk all the way to the front desk the following morning requesting for first aid. Made a complain to the Manager on the poor service to which we have not heard anything as yet.
I loved the hotel's location right by the beach, and the food (both breakfast and dinner) was excellent. We stayed in one of the beach houses, which could have been a little better maintained. The main issue I had was that we ordered room service, and I was not told that the food I requested was not available; only found out when I called room service again after half an hour, so I had to order a different option and wait another half hour. Overall, this is a tranquil and relaxing place to stay.
Lovely seaside hotel with accommodation at 2 levels-our room was on the 1st floor & was comfortable with the usual trimmings & a balcony. There are 2 restaurants & we chose the Crab for our evening meals. The highlight of our stay was Whale watching- we were very lucky to see a pod of about 10 sperm whales & about 20 of them all within 3 hours or so. Would definitely recommend Trinco blue & hope you would be as lucky as we were re Whales
I have to tell about this hotel something... I'm tours guide srilanka im traveling the all round the srilanka never i seen like this hotel its really bad this photos tell u about story.. There have nice lobby but in side very bad.. Please be safe on ur food...
I can speak for all and tell that the scenery, the pool and beach areas, the rooms were beautiful. We were disappointed that the snooker table was faulty, but the beach and pool were enough to keep the bunch occupied. There could have been a few more restaurant staff present. And abit more Can't wait to go back again alone with my husband.
This property is an ideal place for a beach holiday. Staff are all friendly. My package is full board with buffet served for all meals. There was a great variety of food for selection. The only downside is the restaurant was always short of staff so we could not get attentive service.
In the crab restaurant, we were given a menu card with half prices (we didn't know until they came up with the bill), so we ended up ordering lots of dishes as we thought they are a good value for the money. When the bill arrived we noticed that all the prices have doubled, and when we inquired the staff informed that they are the system prices. When I inquired from the restaurant manager he told me that they MIGHT have shown me the HALF PRICES menu, they printed for a different purpose. When I refused to pay as I was deceived, they offered me a discount, but told that the balance would be deducted from the waiter's salary! What a bad practice! I ended up paying the full amount anyway as I felt bad for the waiter. Pros: Nice beachfront location. It was the cleanest beach we saw in Trincomalee. Not much crowded, so you can stare at the sea and relax all day long. Good breakfast buffet selection was so satisfying. WiFi coverage was good, but Wifi speed should be improved.
