The place has an amazing view and the place is situated in a very calm and quiet area . The hotel staff is very friendly and flexible . I would recommend this place for any family to stay overnight or for lunch.
I had a total of 7 family members visit Sigiriya Village last week on holidays, we stayed there for 2 nights. We had a great time and the hotel was fantastic with great service. We really enjoyed the great hospitality offered during our stay and nothing was too difficult for the staff, the food was great, the rooms were good . Special thanks to Michael and Shiran Gunawardana, I would recommend this hotel for someone looking for a nice peaceful break.
Nice hotel but poor staff who cant help you much. Food is just same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Like we were eating same fish curry and chicken curry everyday. So i would also suggest for people to try that are cheaper and good outside. Rather spending huge money for buffet. Also there is no wifi in rooms so you have to walk hundreds of meters to reception and experience slow wifi for checkking messages or mails. While paying the bills i told them i would pay in $ and for that they said they will give change in local money. How ever if we pay in local money they charge 1$ as 151 but to return change they said 146. For this i had to argue with them and they insisted me to pay in dollar or local money, but they would return in local money with less rate. Truely shows no logic and they are not well trained to handle guests. So i paid in local money and left.
True to its name--this resort sets the mood for your vacation in Sigiriya.Beautifully appointed in lush acres of land, each cottage has a character of its own.The landscaping is a delight to the eyes and so very soothing to the senses. God knows how the gardening team manages to keep it in such good shape--hats off to them! And now for the staff--working tirelessly with an ever ready smile on their faces. So warm and efficient, catering to all requests--made me feel humbled! The staff at the reception, bar, the pianist, the service staff in the restaurant, the housekeeping attendants...each one a delight to interact with. The food was amazing--especially the sri lankan curry corners and the breakfast. It was a wonderful to sit in the lobby after meals with a cup of coffee.Thank you Chef. And last--but not the least-the location--just 8 mins drive from the famous monument--what more could we ask for? Thank you Mr Perera--you are running a well oiled establishment here. Thank you for your hospitality. We loved our stay here and carry fond memories with us.
We spent a night here and it was one of the most memorable nights ever. The staff treated us like VIP and the food was absolutely marvelous. Simply put, this hotel knows what hospitality is all about. Recommend it to anyone who wants to be treated like royalty. Thank you guys. PS: while you are there, don't forget to try their signature cocktail- JUNGLE FOWL (wali kukula).
We stayed 2 nights in the hotel. Its a fantastic location all bungalows are surroundef by green nature. Although they have a problem controlling bees and insects inside the rooms. AC wasn't working. Overall it was a nice stay. I do not recommend to take any advice from the spa manager/doctor just visit the spa and talk to the friendly staff there.
We stayed for 4 nights in a lovely bungalow set in the grounds surrounded by trees full of wildlife to enjoy from monkeys, birds and squirrels. The staff were very welcoming and our rooms kept very clean and tidy. We visited many of the local sites from this base which worked out very well indeed. The food was buffet style for dinner and breakfast and catered for all tastes and was of very good quality. The pool was a nice relief after a busy day in the heat- unfortunately the pool staff were fighting a losing battle against the leaves but a small price to pay to be in these eco surroundings.
the hotel gives unique experience to be very close to nature with its huge trees , plants, ponds. Also surronding area got a great view of Sigiriya. I like the lobby and restaurant area because of its open space without any walls , you can enjoy fresh air. the atmosphere of hotel was relaxing, in the night its very quite.I walked around almost at all territory of the hotel, its huge, but most important thing I was feeling magic of nature, it gave me a lot of positive emotions. the food for breakfast and dinner was good, nothing extraordinary, but just good quality food with quite satisfied choice. the room was nice , we were afraid to open the window during the night, because of mosquitos and other insectes, so we switched on the air conditioner and it was a little bit noisy.the wifi is working only near reception.I'd say it's a must to stay in Sigiriya
Visited Sigiriya for only 1 day/night with my family and the family of my friend who lives in Sri Lanka. He suggested this place and I can't be more grateful for that. A lovely place located very close to the Rock Fortress and a nice view of that. The place is close to the Sigiriya Water Tank of which the Fortress is looking over and full of water lilies. The hotel has independent bungalows providing spacious rooms and nice bathrooms (probably the best I have seen in Sri Lanka) Nice staff, very helpful, always tried to fulfill our need. Pool is small but nice and clean, very useful in the heat. The bungalows are surrounded with rain forest trees and plants, various animals walking around, really exciting for the kids. The breakfast and dinner were absolutely wonderful and we loved the music played by a local band in the evening for the dinner guests. All in all it was a great time staying in Sigirya Village Hotel and I can recommend it without hesitation.
After my aunt and cousin were treated quite rudely by staff during our visit to the fortress of Sigiriya, our driver took them to Sigiriya Village Hotel where they were welcomed warmly and offered a place to relax and rest along with free drinks and hospitality while they waited for us to come down from the rock. This is a hotel dear to my heart as I had been brought to it as a child on my first birthday and quite loved it despite having no memory of it. The staff are excellent, the food is quite good and they were really heroes in our hour of need. Thank you.
