a stunning view of the city in the morning mist of Kandy. Reception staff very polite and helpfull. We were given room over looking city. In restaurant variety of food and drink including Indian cuisine served with smile from all the staff. A special thanks to Nishintha for showing round the hotel complex. Happy to visit again in future.
To reach the hotel it is a maze , but once you are there it is Great , Breathtaking view of the hillside. The food is good, nice spread , warm and fresh. The saddest part is the room. Small, unkept and smelling of fresh paint.. Needs a little follow up ..
Our stay was on 24th and 25th September 2017. It was amazing. The food was awesome. Wide spread including Indian cuisine. The amenities were well maintained. We enjoyed the pool as well. Overall it was good.
This is absolutely a better choice if you are looking a good three star hotel in Kandy. They refurbished the hotel recently and rooms are all great and service too. This is located close to the city, so if you stay at this hotel you can visit the city center easily. Cheers - Feel Special.
The stay at the hotel was simply amazing. We travelled this weekend and stayed in the green mountain view room category. We received a warm welcome and was offered a range of beverages to select as the welcome drink. The lunch was on set menu ranging with a combination of salad, soup and the main course meal which comprises a range of western n sri lankan cusine. The meals were delicious and service offered at the restuarant was really good. The dinner buffet was good but it could have done better if they had a variety of dishes. The morning breakfast was the best out of all 3 meals. The buffet spread was amazing and very delicious. We surely enjoyed the morning view of the misty hills while having our breakfast. In the context of the rooms, the room quality was good and we were offered a room with a spectacular view of the mountains. The draw backs of the room was the safety locker did not work and also the sound of people talking in the passing corridor could be clearly heard when we were in the room. Most of all we did notice that the bathroom did not give a good fragance and the glass door was too hard to push and open. The bathroom is not spacious compared to other hotels we have been in kandy and the smell was not pleasent. The pool is located towards the down area where there is a bit of privacy with a wonderful view of the mountains. The hotel also contains a roof top lounge known as the orchid lounge which offers an amazing view of the entire mountain range. The checkout process was ok but it was not satisfactory compared to their welcome and compared to the checkout service offered at other hotels in kandy. Two of the room cleaners did come back asking us that they are unable to locate the drinking glass where we had to go back and show them where it was kept. However considering all the facts we could recommend that hotel topaz as a hotel with an amazing view and good service offered at the restuarant and by the room service who arrived at the door step just as soon as we called. The view and the relaxing atmosphere surely adds value to making your stay a memorable and relaxing stay. This hotel could be improved provided they pay attention to the bathrooms and widening the dinner buffet spread. Tip: Request for rooms with a good view
We only stayed one night as a stopover on a 2 day tour. The hotel was a little more basic than the big beach resorts, but it was clean and comfortable with a good bathroom and air conditioned rooms. Tge setting is high on a hill with good views across the treetops, beautiful large windows in the dining room at breakfast. It was a bit hard to find, but our driver knew the area. I wouldn't try to find alone especially after dark. A good hotel, and fine for us on a short stay.
Hotel with beautiful views. Good for rest and scenic beauty. Good hospitable staff and excellent food. Definitely will recommend to others with young kids. One of the best in Kandy. Also centrally located
You travel up a windy road to this hilltop hotel with outstanding views across Kandy and the surrounding hills. It is cool and windy atop but you receive a warm welcome on arrival. We were met with a choice of drinks (mixed fruit, melon and a very green herbal drink - which was delicious) whilst we were checked in in the open lobby. The views from here (and the restaurant) are stunning. We had lovely rooms on the 3rd floor, each room in set in a different colour way of yellow, magenta or blue. We had a very comfortable bed and two armchairs by the window. The blinds are light weight and do not black out the light. There are stickers on the windows not to leave them open in case of visiting monkeys - but we never saw any. The restaurant area was well set out and you are escorted to table by the staff who are very friendly and service orientated. On our first night we were sat at a table in direct line of the strong air conditioning unit, which was freezing, and the head waiter was happy to move us to another table so I could warm up! The array of food for the evening buffet was fantastic - a salad corner with soup for starters and an array of western hot dishes and local curries, rice and dhal. There was also a cooking station with specialties - deep fried fish, dhal wade (fried Dhal), meat skewers, roti, and dhosa with vegetable curry - all delicious! All the staff in the restaurant are very friendly and cannot do enough to help. The desserts are a real treat and the freshly chopped fruit is a must. We enjoyed some of their cocktails and the prices were reasonable. The breakfast buffet was a similar set up with cereals, bread and pastries, pancakes being freshly cooked, cold meats and cheeses, local curries (again which were delicious), omelettes cooked to your style with cheese, ham, peppers, chilli, onions and tomatoes and a full western breakfast too. Tea and coffee served to your table made for a great start to the day. The swimming pool is outside over a side road and down some steps. Pool towels are handed out there and there are a number of chairs and tables with umbrellas and loungers. You can also buy drinks at the bar area. The pool is a good size with an area cordoned off for children. It was pouring with rain when we were there but it was lovely to swim - we were going to get wet anyway!. If you go up to the roof terrace you have an amazing view across Kandy - weather permitting. This hotel is really nice and I especially liked the service from everyone, even the cleaners, who could not do enough for you. The only downside for us was the corridor noise as the doors are not that thick - but nothing ear plugs could not solve! I do recommend Hotel Topaz and want to thank all the management and staff for a really nice stay in Kandy.
I visited Hotel topaz with my colleagues and we had a good time in this place. the room was good , clean and the breakfast was good. The staff was so friendly. Great pool that is a short walk down the stairs from hotel! If you have difficulties to walk and climb stairs, you will have an issue. overall a good hotel!
Very service minded personell, rooms are very nice and the food is very very good! The only down side is that the doors does not keep the sound isolated from the hall way. We had a room on the same floor as the restaurant, which lead to a lot of traffic outside the door, and a lot of noise.
