We stayed here for 1 night. Hotel is very pleasant, rooms are nice and as advertised in photos, bathrooms though could use an upgrade. A lot of mold in grout and overall in a very average condition. I must admit however that the intense humidity in the area must make the upkeep a bit challenging. Restaurant is very good, we had a Indian themed buffet dinner with a lot of verity and very tasty and the breakfast was definitely the best of all the hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka, and there were a few! The pool is nice with an amazing view of the rock, very much worth the dip after the tiring climb to the top in 35 degree + weather! Staff are very friendly, professional and polite but may need some extra training on going the extra mile. We had a disappointing incident with dinner. I had asked since check in if it was possible to order dinner for our 10 month-old son, something simple like steamed veggies, so I was told to contact the restaurant where I was assured it would be possible and to come by at 7:15. Upon arriving, no one really seemed to be aware of my request and I was told we could just take from the buffet if we were eating there ourselves. We wanted our son to eat first to put him to sleep and then come back ourselves... this did not seem to be possible although we were perfectly willing to pay for his food. I would like to think it was a simple misunderstanding, but it was very disappointing at the moment. Overall a nice hotel and would recommend it.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my partner and our 3 youngest. The hotel is an ideal base to visit lots of local sites (from here we visited Polonnaruwa, went on a jeep safari, climbed the rock fortress, visited Habarana and went to a local spice garden - all within easy distance and all fitted into the 3 day tour of this area). The rooms are well laid out, spacious and clean, as are the bathrooms. There are monkeys playing in the trees, a lovely pool with spectacular view of the Sigiriya rock fortress (which you can view through their telescope) with plenty of sun loungers, well kept grounds, a small children's playground, decent bar area and buffet restaurant. The food for breakfast and dinner is plentiful and of decent quality. The only thing I would say, is that although the staff are helpful and friendly the service (eg when ordering drinks) is painfully slow and you can wait ages for your drinks to come - both when ordering at the bar and in the restaurant (and they never all come at once). All in all though, we had a very enjoyable stay here.
The hotel has a lovely and an beautiful view. We visited this hotel on 05th of May. Really lovely and peaceful environment. Food was amazing with a lovely spread. The staff were very friendly and attentive. All the Best!!! Hotel Sigiriya ...
We had been booked into Sun Green hotel for 2 nights but could not face a second night there and requested the travel agents find another hotel. They booked Hotel Sigiriya and after our experiences at Sun Green it was like heaven. Staff made us feel welcome; no problems with communication; lovely swimming pool; lovely view of The Rock; very good buffet dinner (Sri Lanka curry was great); excellent buffet breakfast. Location great for visiting the Rock ( think we arrived at the Hotel within 30 minutes of being on top of Rock - it was easier coming down than going up).
Make no mistake it's got a 70's feel to the place, but the food and staff more than make up for it. I must also mention the exceptional one man band that was playing that night during the dinner buffet..excellent! Good value. Has an amazing view of Sigiriya when you are seated near the bar or in the pool.
The stay with my friends down Hotel Sigiriya was top-notch well enjoyed! Staffs over there were very courteous and the buffet was excellent. Special mention to the Dinner/Breakfast Menus. If you leave Colombo if you are coming from there, leave around 3-4 a.m you will reach Sigiriya by 7, climbing the rock in the morning hours would be very ideal and your time would be right to check-in at the hotel when you leave the rock.
Good value for money: Stunning pool view to Sigiriya rock, and delicious breakfast buffet with lots of options to chose from (overall best breakfast of our stay in Sri Lanka). Good restaurant with fair (hotel) prices. Despite the size (close to 70 rooms in total), the hotel kept a “small” feel to it, and it was not crowded at all at pool or breakfast. We usually prefer smaller boutique hotels, but went for Hotel Sigiriya for the pool view, and were not disappointed. Super nice and friendly staff! Also nice bar area. Rooms were not super soundproof though...
This was the perfect stopover the night before climbing Sigiriya. Outstanding dinner buffet of Sri Lankan and Indian curry (and guilt-free because you'll be climbing Sigiriya the next morning!) Rooms are basic but suitable for a night's stay. Would recommend climbing Sigiriya early morning (around 8am) to beat the heat and crowds! Incredible view of Sigiriya in the morning.
Hotel Sigiriya, which is located in the best location of the area gives the traveler the best view of the Sigiriya Rock as if the Rock is within the Hotel. The staff were extremely cordial specially the Resident Manager and the General Manager took extra trouble to ensure that every visitor enjoyed their stay and were feeling like at home. The Rooms were spacious and warmly decorated making the visitor feel relaxed at the look of it. The beds were comfortable and the room included a safe locker, a mini fridge and a TV. The bathroom was clean and well maintained which also had an un-interrupted supply of warm water. The restaurant was clean and the buffet spread was quite a generous one with a variety of meat, vegetable, fruits, bread and soups included together with signature Sri Lankan dishes. I traveled with my parents and parents-in-law and we had nothing to complain about. They even gave my father-in-law, who is on a walking stick, a wheel chair so that he could go around the place easily. This was not upon request but voluntary. The swimming pools were clean and was open until 9pm which was great and the pool attendant always was around to help. Most of all the view of the Sigiriya Rock from the Hotel was breathtaking. This Hotel got it all if you are looking for a relaxing holiday at a homely environment with great food and a view.
We had a large room with twin beds for my son and I. The room was clean and as we stayed two nights we had our laundry done which was very cheap. The pool was very clean and it had hammocks and lounges around it as well as a great view of Lion Rock. The buffet was OK and the a la carte menu was good. It is possible to walk to the rock in the early morning but after climbing the rock, it was very hot so we rang for our driver to come and take us back to the hotel.
