Hotel Sigiriya is a lovely place to visit. The calming nature of the Sri Lankan atmosphere can be enjoyed especially at the pool with tranquil views of rock Sigiriya. The staff are exceptional and make it their prerogative to really look after you and give you the best experience possible. The buffet is great, providing a variety of eastern and western dishes that change daily. Also we traveled with our 5 month old and the chef catered to freshly steamed and pureed vegetables everyday. What a great place to stay!
We have visited the hotel with my husband last november. The Hotel is exactly how it seems, the breakfast and buffet dinner is tastefull and the staff really friendly! Though the public areas could be cleaner, the spa doesnt worth it all. I havent tried to be honest but the decoration doesnt make you feel like trying it. The rooms smells humidit, which is quite normal but personally i didnt enjoy sleeping! The location is good if you wish to visit Sigiriya rock and the view from the hotel perfect, otherwise nothing nothing to do around!! And thats something that the hotel should think about. They should organise dancing nights, theater nights, game nights or anything in order not to be bored after 21.00!!! overall good stay next time i would try something else!
We have just stayed here for two nights. It's was lovely. Loved the hotel and the surroundings. It really felt 'wild' and 'tropical' and as though we were in the middle of the jungle! Very authentic too which I loved. Fabulous! Lots of wildlife to see too! The room was lovely, spacious and clean, food was delicious and the staff were ever so friendly and welcoming. Great location to do Sigiriya and Pidurangala rock (which are a must!) Couldn't fault our stay here at all!
This hotel was a pleasure to stay in. Close to town, perfect view poolside, nice bar, rooms were clean, and cute. Staff were lovely, and view at the pool was amazing. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was simply because of the food. Which I found at most hotels in Sri Lanka, sub par. Outside of that, we absolutely loved staying at Hotel Sigirya.
Lovely hotel. Really close to the UNESCO site and with a stunning view of the rock. Room was nice with a cute glass window opening to an internal garden. Fittings are a bit old, lighting poor and couldn't get hot water (just warm). Staff was nice and fairly helpful. Food was good
On a recent 17-day tour of the whole of Sri Lanka, our group stayed in a total of nine different hotels, all of them pretty good ... but my favourite one was Hotel Sigiriya. Located with a perfect view of the Sigiriya 'lion rock', the single-storey hotel has a beautiful relaxed atmosphere and tastefully decorated rooms. The breakfast choice was sensational - I enjoyed a feast of yoghurt, porridge with jaggery, egg hopper, chicken and dahl curries and sambals - while my evening meal of crusted tilapia with creamed spinach was the classiest meal of the holiday. I was sad to have to move on from Sigiriya!
Stayed two nights whilst on a tour. Amazing location and views of the rock. It is a large hotel and the service was first class from pool attendant to the room boys. Rooms are large with lovely fluffy towels and lots of hot water and good pressure. The buffet for breakfast and dinner was first class with lots of choice. Not really liking spicy food there was a lot of choice for everyone's taste. The pool and surrounds were beautiful and it was very relaxing after a full day of climbing Sigirya Rock
This looks like a luxury hotel like the Anantara hotels. The hotel is very beautiful with single floor rooms. The lounge has a nice big sitting area where you can get a view of Lion Rock. The breakfast and dinner buffet is excellent, with a wide range of western and local delicacies. Most of the guests eat here because there are very few good restaurants in this small village. The rooms are very comfortable, beds are soft. One thing to note is that all ceylonese hotels come with a sheet for a blanket but you can get proper blankets from the cupboards. Showers are powerful and hot. Staff are very helpful. There is also a nice pool at the lounge area. Overall, worth every cent!
Relaxed, tree-lined, sprawling, friendly mid-range hotel. As a base to explore the rocks* it does the job nicely ... including a fab, tree lined pool with hammocks in the shade. Buffet options at breakfast and dinner cover all sorts of cuisines and geographies. Good value. Rooms themselves are perhaps a touch dated... not a drama when the hammocks are available of course... * an idea. Both Sigiriya and the nearby Pidurangala are worth a climb, the latter being much more popular/busy than the former. Pidurangala is perhaps the better choice for 'peak' times i.e. sunset. Gates open at Sigiriya at 7am, and we were on top by 7.30am with the place to ourselves, and back for breakfast by 9am. A treat!
The staff were extremely helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Monkeys and other wildlife were in the gardens and the hotel felt like a quiet oasis to be in after a days sightseeing. The rooms were very comfortable, but there was no furniture on the balconies, a problem that the manager sorted out for us.
