This hotel is built into the rocks - the design is really spectacular. You have wonderful views over the surrounding countryside and monkeys climb on the structure and peek into your room. Its a quiet hotel - ideal for couples or families with kids who don't need entertaining. Mine are 5 and 7 and were fine. The food is really good - lots of local stuff. It isn't perfect. The service can sometimes be a bit snooty and you get massive groups of locals visiting who are paying a fraction of the price us foreigners are charged. However, I don;t think a trip to the region is complete without a stay at Kandalama.
Spent 2 nights with my family at Heritance, Kandalama. We had a great time..., really enjoyed the service from all staff...special thank should go to Mr. Abeywardhane (House Keeping) for his prompt attention in keeping our room tidy at all times.. Food was amazing (as always)...and a wide platter delighting everyone's taste buds. View was excellent...Enjoyed morning & evening walks around the lake and cricket ground... I will take bat & ball next time for sure. Overall, it was a great experience...kids had a great time... Will definitely visit Heritance again...
The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere . The rooms are not fancy and gave you this feeling of wildness. Surrounded by trees, you can see the monkeys on.your balcony so make sure to lock well the door so.they won't come inside. The beds are very comfortable and clean. The best area is the shower which has a nice view. The food at the restaurant is great and so authentic. The buffet is huge with many choices. They can prepare for breakfast fresh juices in front of you, fresh croissants cooked in.The oven , live cooking. Make sure to book dinner buffet as well for 2 reasons: 1st of all.there is no where to go at night and second the buffet is very rich and so tasty ( we paid 3500 rps~22$) and it was worth every dollar. The staffs are very friendly. We stayed 2 nights and the food was different each night . I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in sri lanka in 5 hotels and this was the best one by far.
The hotel is situated in the middle of a jungle, but the access road was decently maintained. So an easy ride even in a car. Almost everything about the hotel was great from the scenery, to Jeffrey Bawa's iconic architecture, to friendly staff, to excellent rooms, to great dining offerings. However, the hotel was not prepared to serve a full house of guests on our first night making us wait in a que for a table at the restaurant. It was a case of pure indecisiveness as the hotel apparently had been facing the same issue for several days. Apart from that, it was a wonderful experience, where even our 1 year old baby was highly enjoying.
Excellent service. Staff was friendly. Parking facilities excellent. Rooms are very comfortable. I think this hotel is the best place for honeymoon in Sri Lanka. Restaurant is amazing. It has any type of foods and unlimited supplements. We had a amazing ride with elephant. It was introduced by staff. It was very helpful for us.
Great Hotel with a beautiful view all around. Friendly staff, great food. Dilini Rajapakshe from the reservations helped us in selecting good and suitable rooms as we had a paralysed patient with us.Rooms with sigiri view & dambullu view was made available for us. Surprise birthday cake was given to us on our fathers birthday which made our stay more happier and memorable.
We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip around sri lanka. Check in was smooth, welcome drink and cold towels were great after the drive to the hotel. Rooms were really nice we had the delux room which had a jetted tub which was a nice touch. We were there on my wifes birthday and they made a cake which was nice, we did private dining in a cave which was a great experience. Breakfast and dinner were really good great selection of local and international food.
We stayed one night here. They welcomed us with a flower and treated us very well from that point onwards. The staff and the service was excellent. Specially the food was delicious. The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful. There was a classical musical band which played very heart touching songs. Over all this is the great place with lot of happenings.
Very nice hotel with good and clean rooms. Worth of money. recommend for visiting. We spent two nights. Swimming pool view is super cool. I give 4* because the taxi service is soo expensive. Recommended
We stayed here for one night and it was not enough! The setting is perfect, food is delicious and the rooms are stylish. It is amazing how the building has been combined with the natural rock and it creates a perfect transition to nature. The view from the infinity pool is amazing in the morning.
