Room was excellent and from the welcome to checkout everything was perfect. Specially the staff was so friendly and they are very helpful. Food was so yamee specially the Sunday lunch. All in once, "Value for money."
Stayed here for 3 days, great location, adjacent to beach (with good security to keep the local hawkers from annoying you). Great pool and other facilities, breakfast was good, coffee shop average. Aircon in room didn't seem to be very effective with humidity but passable. Has all the resort style facilities to sit back and relax. Great staff. Would rate it about a 3.75 star, as generally it is lacking the edge... and facilities / room / bathroom / furniture etc looking a bit worn out.
Eden park hotel had the best ayuverda massage we had amazing relaxing time over there. We had paradise room the last floor, amazing pool view. Very friendly butler who helped me in everything and find solutions to all my needs. Im upset couldn't remember his name. Excellent beach party was organized by the management. Very nice bars and seafood. Must visit my friends Thank you.
Tenth time in Sri Lanka, first time in this hotel. Booked with mercury as always but on this occasion we had a problem with the driver falling asleep at the wheel. My husband was ready to jump in front and take the wheel on quite a few occasions. Thankfully we arrived safe and sound. Check in was good and suggested we delayed formalities so as we could get dinner before it closed. Very happy with room, (super deluxe) , lovely view and terrace area although a few more plants between room would be good to give a little more privacy. One night we got back to room to find our chairs had been whipped by family two doors away. Room a little tired and bathroom could be a little more luxurious. Grounds are pretty and well kept, gardeners/sunbed keepers very helpful, even gave my pregnant daughter two mattresses for her comfort. Food at the main restaurant was good and varied-always enjoy a Sri Lankan curry but other options are available. The only thing is with all inclusive is you can't eat from cafe when buffet is on and this posed a problem for my teenage son and two year old granddaughter. They preferred cafe menu so this ment we often couldn't eat together. The staff seemed unsure of the rules also, one day it was ok, the next day it was no no. Dress code in restaurant is outdated, men not allowed in smart knee length shorts but women allowed to wear hot pants and strap tops, it should be one or the other but in a very hot country, lighter attire should be acceptable. Staff are very friendly and helpful although sometimes there is a communication barrier and if you order something and want to omit something like mayonnaise for example it still arrives with mayonnaise. Now for my real gripes, there was a smashed glass in the cafe/pool table room and it took four days for it to be cleared. Not acceptable, staff should take more responsibility health and safety wise and if it's not their job then tell someone whose job it is to clear up, also, room service plates left in stairwells for five days, not what you would expect to find in a hotel of this standard. Don't want to put anyone off from visiting this hotel, we really had a fantastic time but some things are important and I hope the management are keen to address these important issues. We enjoyed the beach and we did swim in the sea although with caution. Would we return? Maybe, possibly.......
This was our first trip to shrilanka the hotel was very nice we had a superior room but I would say it was a normal room nothing luxurious about it we had a sea view as all the rooms did on upper floors the hotel was right on the beach which was nice the food was very nice except to many fish dishes at times the staff were all very friendly the all inclusive drinks need improvement as they was very limited also you could only have 1 kind of cocktail in the heaven cocktail bar and as far as the evening entertainment this needs a big improvement as was very poor when you have no where else to go at night you need better entertainment overall the hotel was as expected and we would return so I would recommend it
We have recently returned from an 8 night stay at this hotel with my party of nine adults. The hotel is around a 2.5 hour transfer from Colombo airport. Like most hotels of this standard, it is very secure with guards at all possible entrances to the premises. Rooms. Of a good standard with all amenities including good air conditioning. Can I extend my sincere thanks to Prasanna Alwis for the generous room he so kindly provided for my wife son and I. The additional space afforded my son some privacy which was very much appreciated. As mentioned by other reviewers, some of the furnishings are looking a little tired but overall it provided everything we could have asked for including amazing views of the beach and sea beyond. Thanks to our wonderful butler Anton who was a true Gentleman!!! Grounds. Beautiful well kept grounds and a nice pool. Plenty of sunbeds which the groundsmen will sort for you and make sure you have sufficient towels. Food. My party and I were on an All Inclusive bases which means that as part of the package your dining options are the main buffet restaurant and cafe at certain times. The food in the main restaurant is very good and varied. If there isn't anything to suit you, have a word with the head chef and they will do all they can to provide you with something to your liking. The Sri Lanka food section is excellent if you are a curry fan and enjoy something spicy. There is a big emphasis on fish and vegetarian dishes, so if like me, that doesn't always float your boat, try the cafe where you can get excellent pizza's, pastas and other fast food type stuff. Drinks. There is a nice inside bar area and pool bar for use during the day. Being on the All Inclusive package meant local alcohol which wasn't of the best quality. My wife and I are both wine drinkers but found ourselves having to revert to G&T's for the duration of our stay. Not a problem, you just have to adapt and accept that's what on offer. Entertainment. There was some form of entertainment every night we were there from a sax player, to traditional dancers. All pretty good. Wedding. During our stay, two of my party had a traditional Buddhist Wedding Blessing which was held discretely on the verander of the 7th Heaven Bar over looking the beach. The event was truly wonderful. Beautiful flowers as arranged in advance by the hotel. Very Special thanks to Crystal and Shamila for all their help in arranging this for us and making the whole ceremony something never to be forgotten. Overall this was a lovely holiday. We did manage to get out and about and explore some of the wonderful landscape and animals that Sri Lanka has to offer. If you don't want to venture very far, at least take a boat trip down the local river and catch a glimpse of crocs, monitors and amazing bird life. The guys on the beach will sort this for you for very little money. Don't forget to haggle though! Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good standard hotel at a reasonable price.
Nothing bad to say really..rooms were fine and staff very nice indeed. We got a bit fed up with the evening buffets though the food was of good quality Pool was nice and very warm. Beach was good though no swimming due to time of year. My daughter and I did a multi event water sports experience which was fab. Lovely hotel.
We stayed 2 nights in this hotel and it was a really calm and relaxing experience. Has a nice garden and beach is just in front of the hotel. Had a very joyful sea bath and relaxing on the beach was amazing. They have nice big pool with an interesting shape. We got a upper floor room with sea view and it was quite neat and tidy. However, the buffet was somewhat the same and did not have much variations
We were given a complementary dish for just being the first to arrive for the lunch buffet. Great hospitality and we enjoyed the outdoor buffet. Luxurious hotel in a beautiful location with a wide variety of waters sports.
It was our first trip to Sri Lanka and we are total satisfied from the Country and the people living there. Eden was our last Hotel after we stay in 3 different 5 Star Hotels (Island roundtrip). The Hotel is 5 Start rated and I think to the local standards are matching. Compared to European 5 Star or Middle East 5 Star Hotel would Eden not reach 5 Star. The Room was nice and big and absolute clean. The only small minus is, that everything is looking old and too much used. It needs really a renovation, also the other facilities of the Hotel are looking too much used (but everywhere top clean!). The breakfast Buffet is really big and more than enough to chose, for everybody (local cuisine, international available) and also every day some changes to not get bored. Lunch buffet we didn't use so no comment. Diner Buffet is same like breakfast, big and a lot to chose. The Restaurants in the Hotel with a la carte food are nice accomodated and a good choice of Food. The stuff is amazing and always friendly and helpful, never hear a No, always a smile. The Management is going around every day and have a small chat with all guests to hear if everything is good or somewhere changes to be done. Overall the Hotel stay was nice and relaxing. The Country is awesome. If we will come back, is a definely YES, if we would stay again at EDEN? Maybe, when there happen some renovation and make up of the room and facility, yes.
