This hotel suitable for gypsy mans. There are no kind peoples in hotel. They made many problem to me in last month when i go there. This hotel no good for humans. Because there are no humans inside hotel
we have made booking and also have checkin 20 days in prior to our visit we reach hotel around 4 pm and usual check in time was 2pm we were made to wait for 3 hours to get the rooms as they said hotel is over full and when we were trying to book through agoda they were showing rooms are avaiable e have booked 6 rooms as we were three family with elder children they gave only 2 rooms at 7.30 pm breakfast was horrible so many cockroaches around the food counter all the spoons n plate were stinking very badly we hardly have few bit n walked out later we went to taj hotel near by n had lunch n dinner there the guess representative was very rude to us wen we were requesting to allot the room soon she spoke to us very badly and said who are you to speak and get lost kind of the words she said full of attitude she was
The web site promises such culinary delights (8 bars and restaurants), that we took a taxi from our hotel (inferior Cinnamon Bey) specifically to visit one of them. But in reality, three (Captains Deck, Beruwala Malu, Seafood Market) were closed. We were encouraged to sit down by the pool, and order from a menu at Beruwala Malu (fresh fish - sounded great). But after we had ordered, the waiter came back to tell us that the fish we ordered was not available - indeed, NO fresh fish was available!!. He had no idea what was available. Poor lad. We then almost gave up, but driven by hunger, we ordered from the Chameleon Cafe. Mainly a cheap pizza and fish and chips place. We saw a burger for a customer sit on the kitchen bar for 25 minutes - not sure if the customer complained about the wait. Eventually, we finished up with (cheap) battered marlin with french fries, and a beer. Lots of people clearly had the inclusive package of the buffet, which we were told we could not have - not that we wanted it. No promises are available here, and if you want an all inclusive, buffet every night, then this is probably OK. If you want what is offered on the web, forget it. For non-residents, do NOT believe the web site - it is totally untrue. Shame. Staff friendly, if totally uninformed. Guest book implies that the place is fine for families and al inclusive guests.
The hotel is lovely - well appointed with spacious rooms and excellent service. Large swimming pool; daily activities (if you chose to take part); sunlongers around the landscaped gardens (towels provided). Plenty dining options - we loved the fresh seafood bar (where you order your seafood for dining in the evening), 2 ala carte restaurants and extensive buffet (breakfast, lunch & dinner). Some food was amazing - especially the seafood; some however was either overcooked or in the case of vegetables hardly cooked at all. The bespoke cooked seafood from the counter and the buffet were probably the best quality food. Ala carte was hit or miss. Lovely staff - always with a smile on their faces. We thought the hotel location would mean there were restaurants, shops etc outside within easy reach. There's really not much going on around the hotel - walking north up the beach, we did find a few restaurants eventually, but many places looked either closed or abandoned. A nice & safe area to walk round (certainly during the day) if you're just out for a wander. Sea did not appear swimable - too rough but that might have been the time of year.
Reception staff were terrible from check in to check out - didn’t have a clue and made up answers to questions at times. Deluxe room was above a bar that played live music!! Food very average - we went out every evening Sunbeds reserved every morning No sunbeds allowed on the beach (which was beautiful) - not even allowed to take towels to sit on! Very disappointing as other hotels in other parts of Sri Lanka allow. Overall very disappointing stay
We Arrived on the 28 th of December , were greeted by Tharani she was very friendly , informative and Professional , with a charming personality ...very Great Asset to this Hotel . Also she was a daily help with our questions and requests . Eg Arranged Massage Session with ease and Competence Had daily interest as she passed though the Breakfarst restaurant , that we were Happy without being intrusive . Generally Staff were very friendly . Meals were varried and well cooked . Wonderful New Year Eve Party , Buffet and Local Show...with Music till the Early hours Thank you we enjoyed our Stay . My husband and I stayed here for two weeks and we loved it! There was a tropical storm very shortly after our arrival which caused some damage, especially in the grounds. However, all the ground staff worked exceedingly hard and efficiently to restore order – we were very impressed. The ground staff were all fantastic, but I would like to give a special shout out to Tillah. He always had a smile for me, told me about the coconut flowers and other things, sorted out good sun-loungers and towels and looked out for my welfare. He often had to climb the palm trees to cut down coconut flowers and branches, and I used to watch him in fascination. We visited the spa once during our stay and had fabulous massages. I’d highly recommend it. I became a regular around the spa area and all the staff were really polite and friendly and always had the food ready for me to feed to the koi most mornings. Our room was spacious and well equipped – you do not need travel adaptors as they have multi-function ones, including USB ports. The house keeping staff were also friendly and polite, and ensured that we were happy with the room and that we didn’t have any problems. There was a small rack for drying clothes, but I did use the laundry service which was very efficient and inexpensive. There was a mini-bar which was a bit expensive, but the fridge was a decent enough size for us to use to keep other things chilled. There was also a safe in the room that was free of charge. All of the staff were amazing – I met and spoke to staff from various different functional areas. They were always warm and friendly, courteous, helpful, had some very interesting things to talk about – they truly are a credit. And they all made efforts to ensure that any needs were being met. The food was amazing!! We stayed all-inclusive and did not have a single bad meal whilst we were there. There was always a good choice of food and it was regularly refreshed to ensure that it was not standing for any length of time. There were also live cooking stations where you could get fresh omelettes, burgers, prawns, kebabs steak (different things on different days). On days that we were on trips the hotel provided us with breakfast and lunch bags, along with water and fruit juice. There were a couple of shops within the hotel – one of which was a jewellers (Raja’s). We bought a Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring, along with a pendant – which was made whilst I was there. The jewellery came with a certificate of authenticity (Sri Lanka Gem & Jewellery Authority). We also regularly spoke to Nico outside the main reception who could organise guided tours and taxis. We paid for a driver for the day (Coco) who was brilliant. We went to one of the turtle hatcheries, a gem mine, batik factory, the tsunami memorial and museum, a trip to Galle and to a very nice fish restaurant. It was reasonably priced and we were not rushed – he insisted that it was our day and that he would take us to wherever we wanted. Once again, recommended. The only things that I can criticise is that I’m not sure that the hotel could be classed as 5 stars, but rather a very good 4 star. We ate in the temptations restaurant one night – but whilst the atmosphere was more relaxed, we didn’t think that the food was any better than from the buffet. In fact, we actually found it a bit disappointing in comparison. Also, the evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, and not always our ‘cup of tea’ – but it is difficult to find entertainment to suit guests that come literally from all over the world. But they were very minor things and didn’t at all detract from what was a wonderful place to stay – I will always have the fondest of memories of the staff there and will miss the local food.
An amazing place to stay on the beach. It is located on the beruwala beach close to Bentota beach. However, it is worth staying here. The resort is connected to the beach which is clean and quiet. The swimming pool is big and is located in the centre of the resort. Loved the rooms facing the swimming pool. The bathrooms were clean. The staff were helpful and humble.Their inhouse restaurant was amazing. Great food. They also have live music to unwind along with sheesha for those who prefer. Would recommend.
Me and my 7 yeras old daughter spent wonderful days at Eden resort. We stayed there 4 overnights between 1st and 5th of December. The hotel is located on the beach, with a wonderful garden and a huge pool. The room was comfortable, with pool view , cleaned daily. The food was tasty ( we had half-board service). The staff was very friendly, polite and hospitable. The spa was excellent. The beach is public, dirty. There were always lots of local vendors trying to convince tourists to book tours, trips, etc. We went to the beach only to see the wonderful Sri Lankan sunsets.
The weather cannot always be guaranteed.... and on arrival it was dull and wet and a tropical storm was heading in our direction. The Eden Resort & Spa is a great hotel, right on the beach and a short walk to the local town. On arrival, we were offered cocktails while checking in and shown to our room on the third floor (top floor) with views of the pool and beach (through the trees). The room had everything we needed including a mini bar. The mini bar was chargeable but there was no problem with putting our own drinks in the fridge. Water was left in the room everyday. The room was a bit dated but spotlessly clean. Our room was cleaned every day (Thank you Lasantha and Mahinda) regardless of what time we left the room. We were all inclusive and found the buffet excellent. A huge range of food for all tastes and a good selection of local dishes (curry!!) The service in the restaurant was really good. The people working at Eden really do make a massive difference! There's a large garden area by the pool with plenty of space to either sit in the sun or shade. The guys working by the pool helped us find sunbeds on the busier days and made sure we were happy with the location. Evening entertainment wasn't really to our taste. The live music was a bit dated and the sari and sarong shows were just odd. But a good range of drinks are available and reasonably priced. The all inclusive option only has selected drinks but still lots to choose from. The cocktail bar on the 3rd floor was a bit of a highlight with views across the hotel grounds and beach. One thing I didn't like was the locals standing but the fence that separated the hotel from the sea. Constantly trying to see stuff and excursions. They don't come into the hotel grounds but it made walking on the beach annoying. Even though they were all very polite. The tropical storm caused our room to flood (and several other areas of the hotel). Our room was cleaned instantly and we were offered an upgrade. A nice offer that we declined as we were happy with our room and a tropical storm can't be helped. We booked through TUI and overall I was disappointed with them as holiday providers but everyone working in the hotel was so friendly and helpful that they made up for TUI's shortfalls. We had a very relaxing two weeks at Eden. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country.
