The first room (202) we were assigned was dark, damp, dated and smelled of mold. Simply not ok. After complaining, we were however moved to a newly built bungalow with a wonderful open outdoor shower, round bath tub and a fresh look. Hence; make sure to get a newly built room or don’t stay here. The restaurant is a bit dark and dated, but ok. Nice views from the lobby and outdoor lounge area.
Stayed here for 2 nights to explore local area. The accommodation are built in the forest overlooking lake. They have preserved many old trees. We had 3 in our bathroom - see photos. Was a little worried about mosquitoes, but they spray daily and we stayed bite-free. Removed 1 star for the restaurant- food is good but the noise for dinner is far too loud as they are constantly making rotti.
This is a beautiful hotels situated along the banks of giritale lake. The view is stunning. Food is excellent. Service is superb. Deer park hotel is the best & highest grade hotel in polonnaruwa. Highly recommended if you’re staying in polonnaruwa. Well worth for your money.
Title Says it all. We had a fantastic stay Many thanks to all staff and congrats to the chef! We stayed only one night as part of an organized bike tour- the company couldnt have chosen a nicer place. Our laundry was delivered in no time, even though we had a short stay only. The bathroom is the prettiest I ever had. Beds and pillows are very comfy!! If we ever come back, we will definitely stay here again
The hotel is located in a great place, facing giritale lake. And it’s only 30mins to the minneriya national park and 10 mins to the polonnaruwa archaeological site. Ideal location if you are planing to visit both places. The room we stayed was 408. While it's clean, cozy and had a really spacious bathroom, it had some shortcomings as well. There was absolutely nothing in the mini fridge and there was no safe to leave the valuables. But I must say, we didn’t feel the place or the room was unsafe. There is no wifi signals to the room. The staff was friendly and very helpful, but I believe they need to be trained better, because for some of the simple things we inquired, the answers we got were ”I’m not sure and I don't know”. We were given a discount and a free room upgrade at the hotel reservation, which is really nice. All in all, I think the stay was worth the money.
This hotel is worth arriving at early to take advantage of the gorgeous setting the rooms are spacious and spotless, there are some issues with bad lighting (or no lighting at bedside) and someone forgot to install hooks in the bathrooms for wet towels and bathing suits! The pool was a bit chilly in the evening (which is the only time that we could use it) good food, fun atmosphere
We spent four nights in this hotel. Staff were polite, rooms / chalets were very nice furnished. We enjoyed a bathroom "under the sky". Breakfasts were great with lot of fruits and assortment of pastry. We can only recommend this hotel.
We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Super friendly staff!! Everyone day and night they were always looking to make your stay comfortable.the pools (2)are Amazing ! The bungalows are clean and the open air shower is an experience. There is just enough hot water to shower and then it has to warm up again for 15m. Breakfast is very good also the buffet or the a la carte choices are excellent! Nice place , beautifull look at the Lake in front .
I loved this hotel! It feels very close to nature, and is very sympathetically built and decorated. I particularly liked the understated room decor of dark wooden floors and white bedlinen, in a spacious room, reached via a meandering pathway through the forest. The bathroom, enormous, with an open air shower, was an absolute delight. We also enjoyed a lovely meal from the buffet, seated on the terrace in front of the restaurant. Having arrived in darkness, it was an unexpected delight to wake up to some stunning scenery overlooking the lake, and an early morning swim in the beautiful pool! I only wish I could have stayed more than one night.
Beautiful room and amenities. The staff was exceptional and handled requests very well. The location was convenient and beautiful. Highly recommend to anyone. We plan to stay there whenever we visit the Polonnaruwa area.
