This is my 3rd visit here and it didn't disappoint, the service on arrival by the reception staff is of the highest quality and standard. An excellent room with high quality amenities, great room service and restaurant. All in all, a great experience.

Though expensive, the lake shore location and tree-filled compound make this unique. The number of birds that can be seen around the cottages, along with the toque macaques, grey langurs and monitor lizards, make the place exciting for nature lovers. A boat ride on the lake at sunset is a must. The buffets are extensive, though the emphasis is on quantity rather than quality. A jog or walk along the track is really enjoyable early morning.

We booked in for a couple of nights at this so-called well known hotel owned by Walkers in Sri Lanka and we had an nightmare and decided to leave the following morning. First after a shower, the bathroom flooded, then it smelled like a toilet, the kettle and the TV was not working and there was no cream for coffee. In the evening we got lost on our way to the dinning-room, since the path was poorly lit and after the rain the walkway was slippery and there were numerous puddles of water. There was one umbrella in the room for two of us. This place needs a upgrade the grounds were poorly maintained. Although there was only 90% occupancy, we had to await until our room was serviced and we were provided with a horrible room.

Nice hotel, clean and comfortable rooms. We stayed here for two nights and really liked it. There are lots of monkeys who will play on the roofs and in the gardens. The hotel has a big swimmingpool and it is on very central location. The staff in this hotel is super friendly! Special thanks to Kasun Charith for showing us the great Sri Lanka food and the kitchen! And Samantha Bandara thank you for the excellent noodles and Naan bread! Thank you staff for making this trip a more perfect, You are the best!

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for two days in May. The hotel is located in a charming and tranquil environment with lots of trees and ponds. We had a late arrival for check-in but the front desk staff did an excellent job taking care of us promptly. On arrival, we were greeted by the Front Office Manager, Harsha. He was very accomodating and friendly. The room was clean and well-maintained. The food was great and the kitchen staff were friendly and committed. The pool was surrounded by trees and the area was so relaxing. Kudos to the staff for maintaining this place so well. Overall, an extremely positive experiencel and I have no reservatin in recommending this place to anyone.

This is the 2nd time I've been to this hotel, the last time being back in 2013. Nothing much has changed since that time and the hotel is still one of the best hotels in the country that I could recommend to anyone. The hotel is made up of chalets that are distributed across a large area and is situated in a beautiful location that is surrounded by nature. Special mention should go to the buffet where every meal feels like a new experience. The selection of food is extremely vast and each meal was extremely enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and efficient as well and went the extra mile to make our stay feel pleasant. There were few issues we had during this stay which I thought should be mentioned in this review. The main issue was with the mosquitoes. The restaurant has been done in an open manner and it is very difficult to sit through dinner because of the mosquito menace. We were travelling with a 6 month and a 2 year old and therefore this was a major concern for us. I feel that this is definitely something that should be looked into by the hotel management because of how dangerous mosquito bites can be these days. The 2nd issue I had was with the quality of the Wi-Fi. It's extremely slow and not up to standard when comparing with other hotels. Those issues aside, it was a memorable stay and I would definitely visit the hotel again.

I stayed in this hotel for a night but my experience was bad .It says it is a 4+ category but the room was bad .The bathroom was stinking and shower was bad .cant even rate it 3* only the property is beautiful but services are bad .The staff who escorted us to room only didn't know where the room was located. Bad experience.

The Pros: - Good location for cultural triangle sites - Fantastic grounds - Great pool - Good wifi in room and grounds The Cons: - Rooms have been poorly maintained and are looking rough around the edges - Friendly room boy but cleanliness somewhat lacking (stains, cobwebs...etc) - Very mixed level of service, particularly tricky to get pool cushions and towels - I appreciate it is not always possible to control wild animals but more could certainly be done. A monkey went for me as it tried to steal my bag from the poolside and I would be concerned if I had young children. - Poor food in both bar area and main buffet. We ordered a mixed vegetable salad and were served grilled vegetable bruschetta with fries? I was glad to be a vegetarian because the breakfast meat looked very unappealing. - Excursions and taxis through the hotel are extortionate and the staff are banned from giving you any assistance with using outside agencies. We ordered a taxi through the hotel upon check out. They quoted us Rs 21,000. Another company quoted us Rs 15,000 but we went through the hotel as after previous experiences we wanted to be assured of a safe car and good driver. The driver was fine and the car appeared good at first glance. However, upon further inspection, the tyres were the baldest I saw during our trip (and that is saying something). They were completely unroadworthy with the out edge having zero tread remaining. When I questioned this I was told 'it is ok, it is only the outside'. The car is maintained by an external agency but the hotel should ensure their partners apply sufficient maintanance for the safety of their guests, particularly when charging so much. - Upon payment, I specifically asked to be charged in rupees, as I have a preferential exchange rate on my credit card. However, without my knowledge (and only noticed later when the Cinnamon Bey in Bentota did the same thing) the member of staff clicked GBP on the card machine, applying the poor exchange rate of their operator and also a 4.9% fee. The small print on the recipt clearly stated that they should ask before doing this and as I had specifically checked that I would be charged in rupees, I was particularly annoyed. Upon questioning this later at the Cinnamon Bey, the Duty Manager was polite and helpful but I had to explain the very basics of exchange rates to him. Staff should be better informed and understand that they cannot make an automatic currency selection, as this has cost implications for their guests. I estimate that between the two hotels, this added an additional £50 onto our bills. I am awaiting a response from the hotel on this issue. Halve your expectations of this hotel and you will be about right.

If you are looking for a great, value for money, hotel in Dambulla, this is it! Live heart and soul in one with nature. Live in one of the lodges. Roam around, enjoy good food, walk around and breathe fresh air. Lovely for love birds young or seasoned. Enjoy with family and friends.

Iv been going to cinnamon lodge for the last month and half and almost 3 visits already and its been exceptionally good. Due to a spine injury it's difficult for me to go to the superior rooms ( due to the distance) and the management has upgraded me to the deluxe rooms without a hassle. Talk about customer service. The hotel itself is very clean and only issue I find is the monkeys but thats nature so can't really argue with that. Rooms have been very clean and so far I haven't had any issue. The In-room dining menu is amazing and quite creative. The food we ordered were all amazing. A variety ranging from Wontons to Pork Pancakes. Special mention goes out to the restaurant staff. one word PLEASANT. Unlike most restaurant staff these guys are very humble and obliging to all requests. But their pleasant smiles and tones take the trophy home for me when it comes to this hotel. We tried the Azmaara spa also the other day, Though the spa pricing is a little high the Balinese massage was super relaxing and very professional. A full body massage is about LKR 10,000/- A Suggestion to the hotel from my end would be that the Dinner buffet lacks a bit of flavor so I wish they looked in to it and also the desserts. Breakfast range is absolutely off the park. From Continental to Sri lankan to fresh hoppers made on sight. The hotel itself is very refreshing. I love going there away from the city as it's full of nature. And it's very much a peace of mind. Ill be honest though, I wish the reception / Check in staff could be a little bit more friendlier and smiling :)
