I always return with pleasure to the Novotel, very nice welcome, walking distance from EuroAirport buses and main train station. Nice friendly atmosphere at the bar in the evening. The hotel was rather very busy during the summer, however same excellent service was delivered. You could only notice during breakfast while the lift stopped frequently, not a drama as the building is only 6 stories high. I Shall surely return.
We recently stayed here with 2 young kids for more than a week as a base for our black forest exploration along with Freiburg city. The hotel is fantastic! The staff is very accommodating and friendly and are always willing to answer your questions and sort out your needs. The hotel is a 5 min walk from the train station and has a concert hall attached to it as well. Taxis are plentiful just outside the hotel and a 10 min walk behind the hotel entrance gets you to the old town center with cafes, restaurants and shopping. Freiburg cinema, a grocery store, a good turkish restaurant Divan and some oriental/arabic budget eating places are just behind the hotel (less than 5 min walk). We stayed in a superior room and were not disappointed. It was very spacious with 2 twin beds and a full size sofa bed which could easily sleep 2 kids and still had enough space to walk around and keep our luggage with a lot of closet and cabinet space. Mini bar is restocked daily and was free of charge in our superior room booking (please check your booking for confirmation). The room also has a Nespresso coffee machine and daily restocking of pods (free of charge in booking) which was great! One slight disadvantage is the hotel has air cooling and not air conditioning so it may get hot at times, depending on the weather. Fortunately, the windows open up and the hotel provides small pedestal fans as well. The hotel lobby also has a small business center with internet and printer and is free of charge. The breakfast is great with a huge variety of hot and cold items, fresh fruits, and a coffee machine with various options. Loved the breakfast. The hotel has a small pool and suana as well for guests and a paid parking directly accessible from the hotel elevators. Being a bigger hotel catering to both families and business customers, it also has luggage trolleys (not seen often in europe) to help you take your luggage to your rooms. We found the hotel to be extremely convenient for our daily day trips to the black forest towns/europa park and is a welcoming place to come back and relax after a full day out.
Quite nice hotel strategically located just a few steps from the train station and from the city centre. Nice street view from the room. Quite clean and with all the basic services. The receptionists were professional and very polite. On a less positive note, regardless of the 'don't disturb' card hanging on my door the cleaning lady bursted into my room three (three!) times in the morning.
Positive points: good location, easy parking garage, cordial receptionist Negative points: despite novotel has its environmental program offering gifts for not cleanning the room, we asked for cleanning because of the child. Well, that wasn't a good service. They didn't change the towels despite of the request and didn't take all the garbage off. We were really disappointed with the service.
Too expensive for what you get (189€ for standard room and breakfast). And what we got was a small basic room with a rundown carpet, no waterkettle, no free bottle of water, no iron (there is an ironing room on the 6th floor). Small basic bathroom, shower head can not be positioned. Parking 18€\day. Check in and out was fast and staff is very friendly. Breakfast is great.
The hotel is very convenient located in Freiburg. If you arrive by train it is nearby and there is a public garage under the hotel. The garage is however a bit expensive (18 euro). The breakfast at the hotel is very nice and also the pool area is good. The hotel is in walking distance from the old town in Freiburg. The restaurant is recommended and is with reasonable prices.
We got a superior room that overall we enjoyed. Unfortunately the carpet had a lot of big stains on it and looked awful. Not really what I was expecting The indoor pool is tiny but pretty nice and had a good temperature. The staff was friendly and fast. Breakfast was too expensive so we just went to a local bakery
We used this hotel as a base for a short break. We arrived by train and it was a very short walk from the station to the hotel. Check in and out was a breeze as we had already paid up-front. The room was comfortable and clean and well stocked with the usual amenities. The breakfast buffet was of a high standard and the restaurant staff were great, The restaurant was closed i the evening but we were able to have dinner in the bar area where there were tables set up for dining. The meals were not too bad but not out-standing. The service, while friendly, was pretty slow. We were the only people dining and I think the staff were more interested on the soccer game on the big screen than dinner service. All in all a good stay. We will stay again next time.
In terms of location, views and size and quality of the rooms this is great hotel. Service and atmosphere of hotel was very poor. Check-in was tedious even after checking in prior and special family event was ignored - must say not usual experience as a Platinum Accor Club Card holder. Was easily surpassed by friendly checkout staff. Breakfast was good.
We 've reserved a Superior room (130,00 euro), and two days before check-in day we received a proposition for an upgrade to an One-bedroom Suite in the last floor for an extra cost of 59,00 euro per day. We accepted the offer and we spent 4 very pleasant days in a very large (about 80 s. m.), very comfortable suite, with two bathrooms and a very nice view in two directions. Everything was in good condition and very clean. Leaving in such a spacious room we didn't use the common areas of the hotel, so we cannot comment. The only minor issue is that there is no safe in the room, but you can have one in the reception. The people in the reception were very polite and efficient. The location is very convenient as it is just opposite the train and bus station, near the tram stop and only ten minutes pleasant walk to the centre of the old town.
