2 night stay last Friday/Saturday. Bit of confusion on check in as thought I had already prepaid but turns out just reserved booking(not very clear). Room was ok but no real ventilation room was muggy.Found tea and kettle in the Cupboard is that a usual place? also had no tray to put spoon on or teabag when used, I know only a small point but these little things add up. Staff were all polite and attentive form reception to the bar and restaurant staff. Breakfast was good again staff were 10/10. Would stay here again if needed to.
There were 5 of us and our main meals were all hot and tasty. The same can't be said for the puds.. two of us had icecream and the Easton mess didn't taste anything like eating mess and the sorbet was just ice. The Bakewell tart was very small and we had to ask for the fruit compot. Could be better
The family room we had was very spacious.Spotlessly clean.Lovely sized bathroom.Staff were very helpful and went that extra mile to help.Breakfast was very nice and my daughter felt ill so didn't manage brekkie on the 2nd day so waitress let me take a muffin n pastries back for incase she felt better later.
Went here for a meal with my friends and wasn't overly excited to eat here from reading other reviews and I have to say I was a little disappointed but was expected. Due to a supplier issue you couldn't order half of the menu as they didn't have it in stock. Don't think there was enough staff on for how busy it is there which isn't the staffs fault and they were all very lovely despite how busy they all were. I went with a friend who is vegetarian and they didn't have what she had ordered even though it was not noted on the list of things not in stock. She was struggling to find something she wanted anyway and this made it even more difficult for her to choose something so just had to settle for something she didn't really want. The meals were all just average, I had the hunters chicken which was nice but not amazing and I felt it was a little over priced for the quality of it. We also had to wait a long time between each course but that again is probably down to short staffing issues as I only saw three members of staff all night. I don't think I would return here again but it's not the worst place I've been too. Would be very disappointing if you had booked to stay there and you came for dinner. The overall look of the pub is beautiful and feels very warm and cosy inside just a shame the food and the wait let it down.
We have visited the Lion on several occasions without issue. Great parking, nice atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. The disappointment on this visit was the food. We ordered two fillet steaks with different sauces, which when they arrived, we're not distinguished which was which. The menu promised a 21 day aged tender lean steak served with Paris brown mushrooms, thyme roasted tomato and a fresh watercress garnish. What actually turned up was a mediocre steak which was not very tasty, frozen chips which were full of eyes, half a grilled tomato (no thyme) dried up mushrooms and no garnish. The fact this was a birthday treat is irrelevant as you would at least expect the chef to deliver what it says on the tin. We were very disappointed and fed this back to the duty manager. In fairness to her, she was very apologetic and understood our feedback. She offered us recompense, which is fine, but we did not go out seeking a freebie and would rather they got it right first time. We gave the opportunity to revisit and hopefully it will be a better experience. Thank you to Ms Weston, see you soon.
What a lovely warm welcome when we arrived quite travel weary. Everyone was helpful and smiling. Room lovely as was the food. Could have had more white wine choices but apart from that a relaxing and feel good stay. Will definitely stay again.
Have visited here on a number of occasions and have always found that the staff are very pleasant and attentive. A good range of drinks and good choice on the menu. I would most certainly recommend a visit.
Having stayed at the Todwick Red Lion on a number of previous occasions, we knew what to expect. Stayed 3 nights bed and breakfast March 2017 whilst visiting friends. The hotel room was adequate and clean if a little tired. All staff were very friendly. What let the staying experience down was the breakfast arrangement. Breakfasts were served in an ante-room at the far end of the restaurant. The furniture was in a terrible state - non-matching wobbly chairs with sagging chair seats. The tables have seen better days. The breakfast meals were served on large dinner plates but the portion control made the servings look tiny. The toast was a whiter shade of pale and the coffee luke-warm. Yes - we should have complained at the time but hey-ho, I doubt group HQ would have got to hear or taken notice. Hopefully by now a refurbishment of the breakfast room will have taken place. The one bright spot was the cheerfulness of the waitress each morning.Although not staying for dinner this time, we have previously found the evening meals good. A generally decent budget hotel.
On a busy Friday night we managed to find a table without having booked. Good choice on the menu, with prompt service. The food was well presented and tasted delicious. Will call again when next passing.
Very nice welcome, easy booking and fast checkout. Large clean comfortable room as well. Badly let down as so much was missing form the evening menu. No fish! And no fresh grilled tomatoes (at this time of year???) for breakfast. Bacon looked grey and pale. Just not appetising.
