Are stay was awfull. From the moment we got there we felt so unwelcome by the receptionist and staff. Wont be staying again and would not reccomend the red lion to anyone... unless they like feeling be-littled
We were just looking to kill some time and found this place, lovely looking place inside and out. The food was lovely, I had the pie which was amazing!! Staff were really lovely and friendly, will definitely visit here again!!
Friendly staff that go that extra mile , a excellent meal with the chicken cooked to perfect , the new items on the menu all sound really good and can't wait to try my next meal there , thanks guys!!!
Came across the red lion on our way home, its ideally situated on a roundabout on the main road, food was delicious and staff were attentive. Laura the manager was great really chatty and playful with our 2 young ones. We will be back perfect place for a break on our long commute
The room was fantastic with a huge comfy bed. Food was great, could reccomend the ultimate fish and chips but the rest of the menu looked very appealing. Portions look small but there was plenty. I was stuffed without a pudding and i like a lot of food. The staff couldn't be nicer. Very approachable and helpfull. All in all this is a great hotel to stay. I would recommend to anyone. I would definitely come back here on a personal note with the family
We have passed the Red Lion many times but never called in, until Saturday that is and we wish we hadn't bothered. Two of us ordered the Fish pie, which was advertised as having prawns, salmon and cod with mash potatoes and a creamy sauce, well I would like to know where the prawns were, there wasn't one in either of our dishes!!! The creamy sauce was dried up beyond recognition, and as for the veg it consisted of a few round pieces of carrots 3 small broccoli florets and1 cherry tomato . The floor under our table was covered in food from the previous occupants, so all in all not a pleasant experience, overpriced pub food in a dirty pub.
Staff shouted across the room to check our food was ok. My BBQ rack of rib was one big bone with a thick layer of gristle fat. This wasn't hardly BBQ flavoured either. A friends pie was mushy and described as baby food. The male toilets were appalling. Stained walls, broken tap and a very wet floor.
Me and my partner went to the murder mystery night here that we thought was great fun and the food was good. Bar only open until 11 however we was staying in the hotel and the rooms where lovely a standard double was a lovely spacious room with very comfy bed and a nice choice of breakfast my friend is getting married here next year so I defiantly will be excited to stay the night again thank you
Went here with my daughter, family and grand children for her birthday. It always looks so inviting and is lovely inside. We've never had a meal here where we haven't been disappointed for some reason or other (rack of lamb that was lack of lamb, Stilton ploughmans but no Stilton etc). Started early this time when I ordered a pint of Moonshine, because it was advertised on the pump. 5+ mins later they came to say it was off as it need to settle. We ordered our food and had to wait an age - had to ask when it was coming. Children could order big or baby bear food. Both went big. Sausage and chips was exactly that - a small sausage and about 8 chips. Goodness only knows what baby size was. The burger just came with salad! It was minuscule. We had to ask for chips. My lamb shank was average. The hunters chicken needed a hunter to find it - an escalope rather than breast. The fish and chips were dried out remnants. Very disappointing. Two of us risked the banoffee and it was seriously good - we just had to wait 20 minutes for it. Got to ask why we keep trying the place. It always disappoints. Always.
Lovely food, good portion sizes and great atmosphere. There was a lack of staff around but the ones there were friendly, even the hotel receptionist was drafted in to serve the food, however, it worked and we had a great time.
