we went on a mystery weekend with national holidays , we were happy at how nice the hotel was that they used , it was clean and the included were canny lovely breakfast selections , i must admit i wasn't to keen on the selection what was on the menu due to being a fussy eater , nothing was a bother as they made me a lovely omelette with plenty of filling in it . rooms were nice had a hairdryer an iron and ironing board a plus in my eyes , beds were comfortable .only downside i saw was the shower the step was to high up , and there was no grab rails in the shower or on the wall to help get in or out , doesn't matter how young or old you are for safety reasons as well as for those who have difficulty using facilities i think there should be a grab rail or two in bathrooms overall a lovely place to stay staff friendly and helpful xxxx
We stayed overnight here during a tour with Newmarket Holidays and we were very happy with the staff attitude, and the meal. We had a ground floor room overlooking car park, and when I mentioned that the dirty linen bags had been dumped outside our window which was not very attractive, the reception staff arranged for it to be tidied up. As we were at the back of the hotel, it was very quiet although the road is so close by. The beds were comfortable, and the room clean.
we were with a coach party travelling back from scotland so this was our overnight hotel chosen by the coach company,its a lovely hotel and rooms are clean,the meals were nice,we were on ground floor overlooking carpark and road,i would suggest double glazed windows as on a very busy road and traffic noise all night,also we had a problem with a neighbour who was very loud in her room either shouting or talking very loud all night, we did phone to be asked to be moved was told fully booked for night,after travelling for ten hours we didnt expect this and no we didnt have a very good night sleep, walls are thin,banging of doors,also a weddng party going on.if you want peace and quiet this is not the hotel to come to.
Stayed here 3 times now for an All inclusive event.Great value,great night,great meal.Definitely worth booking an overnight stay, particularly if you are attending the events they have here.Nice comfortable modern rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff.Check out their website for special events and offers.Will definitely be booking here again.
Loverly hotel easy accsess to our room one problem tv didnt work spoke to reception with in 15mins we were moved to another room no problems ...clean tidy warm ...evening meal was perfick gammon steak so thick and tender veg and new potatoes all top end breakfast stoid up to the evening meal great staff no probs
I stay at this hotel quite often as I use Holiday Inn's as my first preference day to day. It is conveniently situated off the M1 and whilst a number of staff are very attentive to your needs a number are not and there seems an air of confusion at all meal times. The revised menu in the restaurant is limited although the ambience has improved with the face lift. My main issue with this hotel is the sound proofing in general between rooms / floors and the noise from the road at the front which is difficult to escape in fact even when they upgraded me to the only executive room on the pool side of the property you had the noise of the lift to contend with instead. The leisure facilities are good with a big pool but the changing rooms are tired and in my opinion dangerous as they do not put any matting down so the tiles are very slippery with people returning from the pool, staff here are very helpful though with locker coins etc.
Arrived late and was promptly checked in despite a lady determined to jump ahead. Parking is clearly an issue with a threat if you don't register your car then a fine of £100 will be instantly charged and the hotel can go nothing to help. The room was really cold and can only assume the previous guest was a penguin. The bar staff are students or nice young upbeat staff, although reasonable on service response to customer. The hotel insists on charging 10% on all bills. I have no issue on food being served or drinks if waiter service. Come on if your at the bar! Plus if your paying premium beers or wines at least serve them in the right glass. They really need to think on air con as it chilly. Good overall atmosphere and will definitely try the steak bar next time. The curry at the bar was nice but chef why so miserable on a small slice of nan. Thanks
Visited 14/8/2017 to meet business colleague. We had a coffee and exchanged some documents. I did see signs saying that parking was for hotel patrons only - but I was a hotel patron so why worry! Just received a £100 parking charge notice via my car leasing company!. Please be aware of this, apparently I should have entered my reg. number into a terminal somewhere, but I didn't. My fault I suppose. There is no reason for them to do this as the hotel is well out of the town centre and nobody would park there not using the hotel. Only way I can have some kind of revenge is to write this review and give them, one star. Whilst I would not claim to be Holiday Inn's best customer I do use their hotels from time to time for meetings/stay-overs etc. I won't be doing so again.
I stayed here for a night whilst working nearby. The hotel is easy to reach and has a good sized car park. Check in was pleasant and I was upgraded to an executive room - which was actually bigger than some apartments we've stayed in on holiday! The room had 2 double beds, a sofa, a desk and a dining table for 4! Wifi was good and the room was quiet. The gym was decent with a good mix of machines and helpful staff. The piped music was quiet enough to be unobtrusive which was a nice change! Room service was wuick and good sized portions and breakfast seemed a step up from standard Holiday Inn. The thing that set this hotel apart was it's the first one that has made me feel special for having Spire Elite status. I had several notes making sure everything was ok and offering various additional services such as late check out. A definite bargain and great management attitude 😊
Never a good start when a hotel receptionist can't find your booking as they don't understand the concept of a double barrelled name... Once this issue was resolved, went on into the room which looked lovely. Unfortunately, the tv service wasn't particularly impressive (remember this is a 4 star hotel), and I didn't find the beds very comfortably, far too soft for my liking. On the plus side, the bathroom was lovely and the curtains were lovely and thick, meaning the room was nice and dark. Breakfast, is the one aspect I cannot fault. Good selection of cereals, juices, fruit, pastries and a lovely hot breakfast buffet, with poached, fried and boiled eggs cooked to order. I had poached eggs, specifically so I could test the service for this review of course, and they arrived quickly and cooked to perfection. On leaving this morning, check out was simple and efficient. So, all in all, check in poor, room ok, breakfast top notch.
