Stayed here several times in the past and happy to say it is still a very good, well run, modern , clean hotel. It has free wifi, downstairs is open plan, with reception, bar and restaurant all part of one large space. The rooms are very clean and everything you would expect in them.
Have used this Hotel few times now but the last two visits, March and July this year have been spoilt by the sagging poor quality beds. They are either lumpy or you roll into the middle. Breakfast seems a let-down compared to other Holiday Inn Express's where Bacon is also offered, not only Scrambled Egg, Bacon and Beans.
This hotel looks fairly new & is located on a busy road with a housing estate to the other side. Aldi & a pub are just outside. Our room was facing the road & was quite noisy. The windows don't open at all, just a small vent at the top. The rooms were modern & fairly comfortable. It also had heating/air conditioning, but ours didn't work. The free breakfast was surprisingly nice, not a great deal of choice but plenty. Even though the hotel was full there was lots of free seats at breakfast & it wasn't too busy. There was also plenty of free parking outside. It was a nice enough stay, but not sure I'd rush back.
Overall good value for money. Pros- lovely staff Clean room Good breakfast Free newspaper Free wifi Cons- unfortunately our room was on first Floor and right by the function room Which was very very lould with DJ and his music. I would stay again but not in the same room sorry
We stayed here for two nights in order to attend a festival nearby. I had driven for almost six hours and was a little tired on arrival so was relieved to be told that our family room was all prepared for us. However the room was woefully unprepared, no bedding on sofa bed, no extra towels and ONE toilet roll for four people!! Why can't a hotel like this think ahead? They know who is in the rooms so get it right!! We also had to ask twice for them to make the room up. When we returned the next evening after the festival our keys had been deactivated even though our booking was for two nights and again one toilet roll but this time they had left two empty inner tubes from used rolls!! I know it is a budget hotel but this is basic stuff. Also perhaps it may be wise to teach one or two members of staff how to put a shirt and tie on in the morning.
Up to Holiday Inn standard, can be really good value. We both liked our rooms very much and thought the breakfast above average and the atmosphere very pleasant. On a short bit of dual carriageway, so from the motorway you drive past and come back on it. Very well placed for journeys on the M1.We thought the evening meals a bit expensive, but there are lots of places to eat out (we recommend the "Thirsty Flame", a family pub diner 5 minutes drive away).
Stayed for a couple of nights as part of a training course. Positives Friendly helpful staff. Cream rooms Negatives Sausage, beans and scrambled egg was the limit on the hot breakfast. Not much choice on evening meal. I stayed the same side of the road so it was particularly noisy. All taking into consideration I would still stay again
I stayed here for 1 night and June and 2 nights in July. For my first stay my room overlooked the main road and it was noisy. I ate in the hotel on this occasion and had the special (gammon). It was a large portion and not bad value for money compared to other items on the menu. For my second visit I asked for a quiet room not on the main road side so I was given a room looking over Aldi on the opposite side and this was much quieter. This time I ate in the Bluebell pub just across the road. my visit was during warm weather and the air con in the room was great and I got a good nights sleep. Breakfast is included in the price although if you have food allergies (I'm intolerant to cows milk) or vegan you don't have much choice. Cold items include fresh fruit, cereals (but only provide cows milk), yoghurt (cows milk), croissants and pain au chocolate. Hot items are limited to scrambled egg, sausages and baked beans. A plus point is that the toaster worked first time and you didn't need to try and guess whether to try and put your bread through again and risk burning it. What was odd was on the last morning of my 2nd visit was seeing some guests walking around the breakfast area in their pj's. The staff were friendly and efficient and I would stay here again if visiting the area.
Stopped here for one night on business as close to my morning location. The hotel overall was ok, typical holiday Inn. Check in was quick and easy and the decor inside was smart. The room was fairly large but as always you could not open the window, not even with a safety lock on which makes the room claustrophobic and stuffy. The room was clean, however, the aircon didn't work which meant myself and my boyfriend were roasting throughout the night which meant we had a terrible nights sleep 😕 We ate at the hotel which was actually quite nice, fairly large portions and served piping hot. Overall ok but just wish we'd brought a fan considering the air con was broken!!
Stayed here several times while on business . So I'll just be quick with pros and cons . Pros-it was easy enough to find just 10 mins off the motorway. Check in was quick and easy. Rooms large and very clean with an excellent size bed. Tea and coffee making available in room. Complimentary soaps body wash and shampoo. Decent coffee and tea at breakfast. Breaded chilli, poppers best thing on the menu . Cons-the toilets in every room I stayed in stank , -first time I stayed on 1st floor I could hear the person next door even changing his mind due to the interconnecting door . -Second time staying I was on 2nd floor and every morning around half 5 the elephant in the room above me paraded up and down the room for an hour before leaving . - I know it's an express hotel but I had 6 coat or shirt hangers and no where else for tops boxers socks,or jeans and trousers to put away , - not able to open windows in the room (probably a safety concern) although there was air -con which meant cold air not fresh air.. - breakfast was repetitive - sausages scrambled egg beans , -cereals bread and fruit yoghurts also croissants which saved the day for me , why not Change it a little now and again ?after 3 visits and 3 weeks I eventually only took coffee and tea -meals in the hotel were very mediocre, had pizza 1 night and Jesus it was abysmal jus too much dough for a pizza , also fish in batter absolutely soggy as if deep fried before oil was hot enough . -Also if your room faces on to the busy road it can be quite noisy . -only stayed here because my company put me up here if you have a choice try the premier inn just 5 mins away my colleagues stayed there and couldn't fault it , or any local B&Bs. -Tip eat at the bluebell next door to the hotel as everyone seemed to do , wonder why ?
