My husband and baby daughter stayed here for one night. The employee at check inn was polite and friendly. Upon entering our room we initially thought it looked fine, however when we looked further there were a lot of issues that needed to be addressed. The room had not been thoroughly cleaned, there was drink residue on a side table, the baby cot had old food and what looked like dried milk on the outside which I had to clean. The tea and coffee condiments were not adequately replenished. One of the teacups had a ring of either a tea or coffee stain. Two of the lights in the room were not working which resulted in poor lighting. In the bathroom one light again was not working and one of the legs on the bathroom counter was loose. The bed was squeaky which meant that every time you turned it was rather loud. The hotel is quite noisy with every footstep being heard from the rooms above and the corridor. Just after 9am the next morning we had the cleaner attempting to enter our room to clean it; not sure why they do not have a system where they would know which rooms had already checked out to avoid such incidents. I would never stay at a holiday inn again, this is the second time I have stayed in one and not been impressed. Attention to details such as cleaning and light bulb replacements are necessary actions. Premier inns are much better hotels that are clean and have comfortable beds and are exactly what you would expect.
Myself and husband are both IHG members, gold and spire elite my husband stays in lots of different hotels and we expect a good service. We got a free drink voucher as usual and went to the bar ordered a bottle of cider and a corona, apparently they have now put restrictions on what type of drink you can have, but the girl didn't tell us that even though she knew I had chosen one that wasn't included, so we ended up paying over the odds for our free drink, totally clueless looked at us as if we were stupid!! Hotel was nice and clean and in a good location just wish the staff had more about them because it was late when we checked in they didn't seem bothered.
The Holiday Inn Rothertham North was recommended by the business I was going to be visiting. It was close to the station and to the venue the next day and had an Aldi next door to get provisions and a pub over the road for a meal in the evening. There were clearly a mix of clients, from workers, business people to older couples and families. Access was very good for those with limited mobility, with a lift to all floors and the numbers clearly marked on each level and my room had a walk-in shower which was really good. The reception staff really helped me out the afternoon I arrived, as I couldn't get a taxi from the station, so someone called one to come and pick me up, which I really appreciated. The staff were generally helpful and friendly and the room and communal areas were clean with a contemporary theme, albeit a bit tired looking in some places. Unfortunately, the person in the room above me thought it was OK to jump and crash about their room until 1am, which was unreasonable to put it midly. But I decided not to complain, so just listened to the chasing and thumping until they gave up! It's a good price for a decent room, in a good location for my needs, although the breakfast was a bit limited and not very inspiring, but I would stay again if in the area.
Good hotel in good location between Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster. Room cleaned daily, beds very comfortable. Breakfast is ok not a massive choice but plenty of options, food ok in evening but KFC, Taco Bell and subway within a 1/4 mile drive if you want something cheap and local. Audi supermarket for any thing you forgot opposite. Only let down is you can't open the windows in the rooms which makes you feel a bit trapped.
I am a big fan of the Holiday Inn Express brand. I stay about 40 nights per year across the country. As a hotel the Rotherham North is as good as most I stay in. Tonight was interesting, though. I checked in late (after 11 pm) and crawled straight into bed. When I woke up the next morning I was greeted by a pair of pyjamas sat on the pillow next to me!. Not the most attractive bed partner! On second inspection I discovered other personal items in the room. Basically, the room had not been cleaned after the other occupant had left. Yuck!!
My last visit was in early November when things did not go well, however visited the hotel last week and much better experience. The mastic around the base of the shower had been replaced and was spotlessly clean. The ruck in the carpet outside the lifts on the second floor was greatly reduced but still needs attention that's why I only gave a very good on my overall rating. Breakfast was greatly improved. Coffee machine, milk dispenser, and toaster all working efficiently, and they have changed the sausages Whoopi. Had a very tasty toasted tuna sandwich which came with crisps and salad. All the staff very pleasant. Will stay again.
I have to stay at this hotel on a regular basis due to family issues. It is always excellent value. The staff are extremely friendly, rooms and beds comfortable and the breakfast (free!) is excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about staying here.
Stayed here with my partner while at olly murs in sheffield and it was lovely and clean. Could not find a single fault with this hotel and the breakfast in the morning was lovely too. Staff was pleasant, the rooms was very clean and spacious.
Stayed for 1 night in a single room with a large very comfy double bed limited tea/coffee with kettle no biscuits. Very handy desk with desk light. Bathroom functional but clean, limited toiletries ( wall mounted liquid soap). Breakfast was very disappointing. Greasy link sausage scrambled egg beans the only hot options. No bacon no black pudding no option of poached or fried eggs. Bread was cheap nasty bread which you could only toast. I am on business alot and breakfast makes an overnight stay. Unlikely to return unless other local establishments are full
The only ok of the entire stay was the comfy bed. The trip was significant for our family but eh experience cause extreme distress. We were subjected to bad manners, horrific non existant customer service and for a waoman who says she was mangement I would not hire her to manage a kettle boiling. The extortion that occured of pay more or get no rooms subjected upon the 9 members of my family was unbelieveable. The foreign object found in my sons pizza with no offer of no charge or apology from the kitchen. English breakfast or none there of after all we can't cook rashers or fried eggs but here are scrambled eggs swimming in water and sausages that had no pork in them or yes and if you want the beans please fish in the vat of tomato sauce. Its a good job we had relatives that lived near by and didn't mind cooking a proper breakfast. Unfortunetly your stuck there is no other hotel in Wath but the option of pitching a tent on the playing field rings a far better option on my next visit should there be one. The cost of the rooms was far above what it should be this should be classesd as budget but because you have no other option you are subject to extortion for what was just a bed to lay in.
