Whilst the room facilities met my expectations, comfy bed etc, however the tea making samples didn't. 2 coffee & 2 sealed teabags both from Nairobi flavours. To get a decent cuppa you had to use both tea or coffee samples because the brew was bitter & lacked in flavour. So in essence you got 2 brews. When I rang for decaffeinated options, the staff replied,as a disabled customer that they recommended I pop across to Aldi & buy them myself. I did however at breakfast take 2 decaf mint flavour tea bags to my room because none was left in my room. Breakfast was like feeding monkey's at the zoo. No organisation, customers pushing past each other carrying hot food & liquid, narrow avenues around the food tables, no good for pple in wheelchairs. Health and safety would have a field day. I also had broken lights that were reported but not initially actioned on, when I chased on the resolution, I had to report it again because nothing had been recorded, so i put my complaint on a card & in writing by email, so again twice, before I got a reply with not even an apology or recompense for the effort taken to bring the faults to management's attention. During 1 night's sleep the tv switched on by itself twice during the night fixed to a Xxx channel. No,before you comment, it wasn't the last channel watched. It's a good job I didn't have any young children with me. Again this was included in my complaint but again, zero acknowledgment in apologising. If you want basic, stag /hen do it's ideal, 15 minutes from Swinton town. But anything else, you would be better inclined to seek alternative hotel groups because staff & management don't care about your lack of enjoyment during your stay, just ship customers out & move on.
Nice hotel, lovely and modern. Clean and with comfortable surroundings, Sadly i missed breakfast as it finished early at 10.30am. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again at this hotel.
Such a great hotel for the price. Excellent rooms clean large well equipped and comfortable. Very smart decor throughout. Breakfast included with lots of choice. There is not a lot else to say but if I don't type in more characters apparently group advisor won't accept my review so maybe I won't go to the trouble next time!
Large holiday inn express which we were told was an ex park hotel rooms more like standard holiday inn in size Breakfast was hot and good. The hotel had a bar and also had food. There were also meeting rooms
Nice new hotel on edge of Wath Upon Dearne. Had double and twin adjoining rooms. Great for the four of us - a couple, child and a grandparent. Self-serve breakfast included in room rate. Right across from an Aldi and a Marstons pub. Down way from loads of other eateries and retail parks too.
I stayed here overnight on a recent Saturday night. I've stayed in other hotels in the area, but felt like trying somewhere new. I chose this particular hotel based on a great room rate, free parking, and previous experience at other Holiday Inn Express hotels. To call this one Rotherham North is a bit misleading – it's several miles away from Rotherham and could just as easily have been called Barnsley South. There was still plenty of car parking when I arrived at about 7.30pm, and my check-in was quick and efficient. My room was pretty much as I expected it to be; good sized and simply but tastefully furnished. There is adjustable air conditioning, a kettle and a coffee / tea tray. Maybe I got unlucky, but the sound and particularly the footsteps of guests in the room directly above carried quite badly, but fortunately not for too long. The free Wi-fi was easy to connect to and worked well. The bathroom was looking a bit tired, with obviously scuffed and peeling paint. More worryingly, as another recent reviewer noted, there was a very obvious and lingering smell of drains. A quick inspection of the toilet revealed that while the pan itself was clean, the u-bend was fouled as if it hadn't been bleached for a while. I can't say for sure this was the source of the odour, but it didn't make me feel particularly comfortable. The bathroom has a good sized walk in shower which worked well, a wall mounted shower gel / shampoo dispenser and plenty of towels. Breakfast is included in the price and consists of a simple but effective buffet with continental and hot selections. The range is limited but the quality is good and staff are on hand to replace food as it is used up. On Sunday morning, breakfast officially begins at 7.30am but when I arrived at about 7.35am it already seemed to be well under way. The restaurant was pretty busy for the first half an hour, but quietened down considerably by 8.00am. I had a good breakfast, and was pleased to be able to pick up a complimentary newspaper on my way back to my room. Anyone who uses Holiday Inn Express will know what to expect and shouldn't have too many complaints. The emphasis is on comfort and convenience with no frills; they keep things simple but do them pretty well on the whole. Their strength is their predictability. To be honest, you wouldn't come here if you were looking for charming or picturesque, but if all you're looking for is a room for a night or two and not otherwise intending to spend much time in the hotel then you won't go too badly wrong. I'll happily stay again, although I hope next time the bathroom smells a bit fresher. p.s. If anyone needs to top up their groceries, there is an Aldi supermarket right next door.
The reception you receive is welcoming, the rooms are clean & comfortable. Well decorated and plenty of space to move around. Breakfast is fantastic value for money. Plenty of parking and a lovely place to stay
Never stayed in a Holiday Inn Express but would do so again. Likened it to upmarket Premier Inn-and i like Premier inn! Good for access to beautiful local countryside such as RSPB Old Moor and walks along trans penine trails. Our room was very comfortable with lots of space. Very quiet location and across the road from an Aldi store! Staff extremely helpful and courteous.
Seems to be a new opening for HIEx. Comfortable, clean and well presented with polite and welcoming staff and easy to find just off the M1. There is a pub next door for food but plenty of people were eating in the large 'restaurant' area the evening I was there. You can also take a stroll to the nearby retail park where there are various fast food options. So, if you are unfortunate enough to have to spend a night in Rotherham, you can't go far wrong with this hotel.
ok, check inn offered me a chocolate biscuit for being a priority club member, really? No desk chair in room, took two phone calls and an hour to get one, bathroom smells of drains. Decided to go elsewhere for food just in case.
