Me and my wife stayed in this hotel on our way to the lake district, we had previously stayed in the Casa hotel which is just up the road from this one, on arrival the girl at reception was very friendly, she offered us a choice of rooms, the room we had was lovely and clean, we had dinner in the lounge , and this is the only part that we didn't quite enjoy, my wife had rainbow trout , it was overcooked and very bland, she also had overcooked potatoes and a bit of broccoli, for the cost we wasn't very impressed , anyway on to the breakfast, which both of us really enjoyed, in fact the best breakfast we have had in any hotel (outstanding) would we stop here again, definitely.
Staff were super, lovely welcome and really nice in helping us find a restaurant near by . Room was immaculate , lovely comfy beds and duvets . we had a twin room . Spa was very pleasant , clean and staff again were super. We will come back again next year on our trip to Chatworth horse trials
This hotel has become our go to stop over for visits to Sheffield. Last time we stayed here the car park was in chaos as they were building a new wing to the hotel. This time we got to stay in one of the new rooms. Very comfortable, clean and modern. Reception was warm and very welcoming as was the breakfast hostess. Just one comment, why in a double room is there only one chair? If business calls us to Sheffield again, we will return to the Double Tree.
Why is it necessary to serve all main courses in bowls? My wife and I find it difficult to enjoy a meal when it is necessary to use a large knife and fork to eat a meal from a bowl. Where customers consulted before switching to bowls? I suspect not.
The drive to the hotel was relatively easy and there was plenty of parking. The receptionist was working solo so the customer in front appeared to be asking for all amenities in the area. The check in after that was relatively swift. The room they gave me was a bit of a trek but comfortable enough with a settee and separate bath. The room was furnished to a good level and looked as if it had been refurbished recently. Breakfast was the usual buffet affair would have preferred crispy bacon rather than the tired stuff in the serving dish.
Nice room, spacious and clean. Great welcome at reception from friendly reception staff, and service and attention in the bar and restaurant was also good. Spacious lounges and a nice leisure centre too! Out of town, so always better value prices than in the city centre. Highly recommended
Worse Hilton experience ever! We were looking forward to a hot May bank holiday for my son's birthday weekend to be greeted with rooms we did not book (booked 2 King beds adjoining rooms and got a queen size and a double). We requested adjoined rooms which we were told they did not have 2 kings so had to take a drop in room size which we did not argue. So ended up paying more for what we got. But it was the Hilton and the experience we looked forward to... were we wrong... Got to the room and it looked worse than an shed. *Bed sheets had come undone at the hems and falling apart which were terribly faded. *Room smelled of mould. *Wall paper damaged and scratched. *Bathroom door damaged. *AC did not work (we were given a desk fan). *Fridge was broken did not cool our drinks and looked terrible inside. *Screw laying on the floor which bruised my foot. *Tap in bath tub missing cover. *Lamp shade cracked. *Stains on leather/suede chair. *No hot water coming out of tap on sink. * Mattress and pillows shallow and deflated. *Worse night sleep in all the Hiltons we've experienced. I'm sure I have mentioned enough probably more if I had to think about it. Spoke to manager that was on shift who advised he would compensate us with Hilton Honours points but not a sign in sight. I should have known. Waste of money. Brings shame to the Hilton name. Avoid and save your money book with Premier Inn and you at least get a decent nights sleep in a decent bed!
Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for my daughters wedding. Excellent rooms, a few hiccups with room service but remedied without any fuss. Honest friendly staff. Food excellent. Very comfortable hotel Great interior
Booked a king room with my wife for one night while on a business trip. The hotel was very clean and our room was of a very good standard. The staff were very cheerful as well as helpful. The breakfast choices were very good. Dinner menu was not so great with what I thought wasa very limited menu and very expensive. £15 for a burger. Lucky we found a Toby carvery only about a quarter of a mile away. Overall good choice if you are visiting Sheffield and easy to get to from the M1
I stayed here last week , when I woke up in the morning and tried to turn the light on I ended up with my hand in a hole in the light and had wires in my hands . I did not get an electric shock but was worried that I could have done , or more importantly a child could have got really hurt . I emailed the hotel and they have responded saying that the type of wire that I had found would not have caused loss of life ! If I was planning loss of life then I would have planned a night at dignitas , not a Hilton in Sheffield. Hilton offered me a refund - which I refused, I was not reporting this because I wanted a free hotel , I reported it because I was worried that a child could get hurt . As of yet Hilton have not responded with anything actually apologising !
