Went for a very large function that had around 200 guests. The hotel and function room was nicely decorated and clean. The staff were all very kind and approachable. The food was absolutely appalling, the event was a formal dinner party however we had to plate up and carry our own meals to a tables from a ‘buffet’ despite ordering from a set menu under the impression we would be served food that have been prepared and plated up in the kitchen. It was really awkward to have to cue around other people’s tables and carry full plates of food with things like gravy on the full length of the function room to sit down when dressed up. It made what was a formal celebration dinner party feel like a child’s birthday. The standard and taste of the food itself was appalling and not worth the expensive price. The drinks at the bar were quite overpriced. Overall very disappointing I had high expectations and feel the food really let the evening down.
Visited with my daughter for my birthday treat. I was returning home to Sheffield and was even more intrigued by the hotel as it is built on my old secondary school field. Lots of memories there! The hotel staff were great and the room in the refurbished part was excellent. Thanks to the hotel for the upgrade and the birthday surprise. Really nice touches. Would definitely stay again. General question to Hilton: would it be possible to have welcome cookies without nuts? My nut sensitive daughter is always disappointed.
Nice hotel .clean comfortable.easy to find .gym sauna jacuzzi won't match a David Lloyd centre but adequate & well maintained .food was nice although I ate the same thing 2 nights running because I liked it .fish finger sandwich 😃.bed was comfortable.breakfast was nice .would stay again
Stayed here for two nights. Really nice hotel with lots of positives. Plenty of free parking, good customer service, free Wi-fi, nice restaurant and bar areas. Stayed in an executive room with huge en suite wet room. Room was great, a good size, loads of storage, large TV, big comfy bed, complimentary tea, coffee, water, biscuits. Mini fridge in room, complimentary toiletries including mouthwash. Huge fluffy towels, bath robe and slippers. Everything was clean, good quality and good condition. For me the only thing that let it down was the expensive drinks (£8 for glass of wine) and food not the best. Burger was hard, bun over toasted and chips not quite cooked through. Other than that I would definitely return
I stayed in this hotel for one night and couldn't really fault it. I stayed in a refurbished section of the hotel - the room was very spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was as expected. There is free parking
Reception was very friendly and the warm cookie welcome went down well with the son. We had a room with a king size bed and sofa bed. I found the bed a little hard but that's personal taste. Free good WIFI. Liked quiet fridge in room. Good size bathroom but shower only :-( . I was going to go for a swim but pool too small for lengths. We didn't go to bar or have breakfast so can't comment on this. Parking easy. About on average 15-20 mins drive to the centre. Hotel and surroundings quiet which is a bonus. We would stay again.
Visited today with a gropon offer. The offer was £30 for two, treatment each and use of leisure facilities. The hotel was very nice, staff very nice however, the shower rooms needed a good cleaning. Pool quite small would say three or four max. Sauna and steam room are small. Sauna room was dirty on the floor and around the pool area there was fixings that had come loose and again needed cleaning. The shower near the pool, the plastic around the faucet is coming off and again need cleaning. I really enjoyed the facial which was booked at 10.30 on the 30th of January. I can’t remember her name but if I was just rating her I would give her four star for the facial treatment. However I would not visit again due to the leisure facilities. There is a lot of stuff especially around the pool area that wants fixing and needs a good scrub down.
We stayed here about 2 years ago and noticed at breakfast, they simply couldn’t keep up with the demand. Well guess what? No improvement! At breakfast this morning, they ran out of scrambled and fried eggs so a queue formed. They ran out of bread again forcing customers to wait which with a knock on effect on the 1 toaster. They allowed the cups to run out at the coffee machine. Then, the single coffee machine ran out of coffee beans. The restaurant manager should surely be encouraging his staff to be proactive rather than reactive?! They appear to be short of staff...... so what’s new? On a plus note, the staff are, without exception very polite and friendly. Our room was very clean and quite spacious with a view to the front. In spite of a wedding party in the hotel, our room on the 2nd floor was quiet. A good size tv with plenty of channels to select. The extractor fan in the bathroom in our room was very noisy. Had it not been for the real let down at breakfast, the rating would have been very good.
The room was clean and staff were very friendly, I was however disappointed that I waited over an hour after being told 30 minutes for a Caesar salad and white wine, they apologise for the delay-thank the lord for the cookie at check in! Didn’t stay for breakfast so can not comment on that. There was no charge for parking which was great. Thank you.
A friend and I were attending an event locally and we came across this hotel in a search at a resonable price and decided to book. As I am a Hilton Honours member, we got a really good deal on the price of the room and breakfast. We were warmly greeted upon arrival, given a delicious cookie and given our room keys. The room itself was tastefully decorated, clean and very comfortable. As we'd had a long drive to the hotel, we decided to eat in the on-site restaurant. The menu was a little on the limited side but what we'd ordered was delicious. At breakfast there was a veried offering and again, was enjoyable. We had a lovely stay and I would happily return again!
