On Christmas Eve we spent a lovely time at the Aston hall near Sheffield one of our daughters and her husband joined us for a meal the food was exerlant the place was warm and clean the staff were very helpful and a happy time was had by all next day We as a family of fourteen three of which were children under six years old had a wonderful time on Christmas Day at Aston hall for lunch the food was very very good the staff were wonderful we had a three corse lunch pulse coffee and mince pie for sixty seven pound per head and we only payed for two children over four it was held in the logonder dinning room it was a brilliant day

Very friendly and helpful reception. Large comfortable room and bathroom. Nice view over the grounds of the hotel. We commented on a missing chair, a replacement arrived quickly. Good restaurant - excellent food and service. Aston is a pleasant little village just off the M1, easy to find. Breakfast - the staff, so good at dinner time, seemed rushed and occasionally forgetful, even though the room was not too busy.

Lovely hotel, really nice rooms but breakfast was just terrible! queing up for a less than average breakfast was not fun. Not even a great selection. By the time we had made our way to another room the breakfast was cold anyway.

We attended your Christmas party function last night (22nd December) and just wanted to leave some feedback. The whole evening was simply excellent, friendly staff, very well organised food service with a special mention to the Manager keeping everything on track table by table. The food was also excellent, with attention given to my wife's gluten free diet requirements throughout the service particularly with the chocolate brownie dessert. Thank you for a great night.

We stayed for one night. A pleasant welcome and nice rooms with all the usual amenities. Despite the size of the Hall the hotel seemed quite small, with a small bar and restaurant for only 30ish guests. We had a hearty dinner and retired to bed. We were awoken several times in the night by noise wedding guests going to there room at full volume. This started around midnight and finished at 05.25. Shame this spoiled what was a welcome break.

Booked this hotel for a night away with my partner, I planned to propose to her during the trip, the hotel provided me with the Jazz room, which was absolutely perfect, there is not one thing I could complain about. Every member of staff I dealt with from the moment I booked to the moment I checked out were amazing, they catered for every thing I needed/requested. The proposal was a success, my fiance loved the room, in fact it was the best room she had ever stayed in, and was astounded with the service we received. I would like to give the majority of the credit to Chloe Wood from the reception, we were in contact from the day I booked and she went above and beyond to make sure the room was perfect for my proposal, and that everything was in place ready for the arrival. She is a credit to Ashton Hall.

Very Disappointed with the turkey in the lunch , seemed processed , very thin , lacking in taste .And not cut from a on the day cooked turkey . This would be the reason for not returning next year.Expected much more for the price . The rest of the meal was enjoyable , customer service excellent , nice surroundings and atmosphere

Was a lovely old hotel plenty of character breakfast was good, the room was in the old orangey was small the bathroom was so small if you not small you would not fit in. Would like to try again but in the mane part of the hotel

Visited the hotel for a family wedding and personally I can’t fault the hotel in anyway. We didn’t stay the night but had a lovely reception meal. All the staff were very attentive and Jade behind the bar was very helpful.

The Best Western Plus Aston Hall Hotel on the edge of Sheffield which dates from 1772 is a beautifully restored hotel that has retained many of the original features of a splendid buiding set in pleasant garden surrounds. The original Grade 2* listed building still has an original mosaic tiled floor and many original features. The website explains "we have a selection of 52 individually designed bedrooms with complimentary WIFI throughout the hotel". What it does not explain until you have pressed the 'confirm your booking' on the website is that not all floors are accessible by lift. I have problems with coming down stairs ... I can go up them relatively easily but going down is very painful and difficult at the moment, so, before I even saw the warning about lifts, I requested a room on the ground floor. The day of my stay came and I arrived at reception and checked in. My request for 'a room on the ground floor' had been honoured but it was explained that I should take my luggage back out into my car (on a very stormy afternoon) and drive round to the back of the hotel. This I did, and found my room 'on the ground floor' through a card locked security door - it was really ground floor minus one compared to Reception which was on the ground floor on the front of the building. My room was a very spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed, with a rather splendid en-suite shower room. The room had full air conditioning which soom brought the room up to the temperature I enjoy. Having booked a table for dinner later on, I thought I should investigate how to find the restaurant. I had been told, when I checked, in that it was close to reception, next to the bar ... so I set out to find it. I came out of my room and looked for signs ... there were none. I went to the lift, close to the outside door I had come in through, but even inside the lift, the descriptions of what was on each floor did not mention either 'restaurant' or 'reception'. I returned to my room and telephoned reception ... not an easy task as it rang for ages and then it was answered by a 'voice' which gave me the option of '1. directions to the hotel', or '2. continue holding'. I pressed '2' and eventually it was answered. I asked how and where I should find the restaurant. I was told 'go up the stairs to the next floor'. I explained that I could not find the stairs and that there was no sign pointing to where they might be. I explained I knew where the lift was and was told to take the lift to the first floor, to turn right and go through four doors and then down the staircase to reception. I followed the instructions and came to a rather splendid staircase and struggled down it to eventually find the restaurant. I looked at the menu and retraced my steps to my room. I later decided that the long and confusing path to and from the restaurant with the 'spectacular staircase' was too much for me on a cold, stormy winters night, so I settled for room service. The meal that I ordered was very good, so I decided also to order 'room service' breakfast, both of which added an extra £5 surcharge each ... but I decided it was worth it, given the distance and the complicated route from my room to the restaurant. Had the fact that reception and the restaurant were in a different parts of the building, an extension, not easliy accessible by lift, I would have chosen another hotel for my stay in Sheffield. The lack of such information on the webside where I made my booking was both disappointing and meant that the hotel description was both inacurate and misleading. I hope the Best Western 'group' and the Aston Hall Hotel might see their way to making this access problem more clear on their introductory web pages. My room was excellent as was the food, but I will not be staying again at the Best Western Plus Aston Hall Hotel on the edge of Sheffield.
