We spent a week in this fabulous hotel in July 2018. The staff was attentive, the rooms super comfortable, and the general atmosphere of active relaxation. The food was superb. The breakfast was rich and varied with fresh bakery, fresh fruit and juices, and a wide selection of cold meats. You could also get a cooked breakfast and they run special events for both breakfast and dinner so that clients can sample the fresh local produce. Dinner was always a spectacle: a three-course meal deserving a few stars per night. The wine selection excellent. What we especially liked were the excursions led by Mr Franz Taubers. He is a great man: affable, good company, and a great guide to have especially when you have kids. We went twice on trails to the nearby Dolomites picks (20KM trail) and around Velturno (13KM) and we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was also very helpful in advising on trips and other activities and therefore took the opportunity to go for a mountain bike trail (Vipiteno-Bressanone): 30KM with our kids and we loved it. We visited other parks and small towns and Velturno itself has a lovely little castle where they hold classical music concerts on Sundays. We speak Italian and a bit of German as well as mother tongue English. The staff could speak all these languages very well (as well as some French). Last but not least, esp. if you intend to trek and bike as much as we have done in that week, the hotel has a swimming pool and various types of saunas. The have a beauty parlour section where one can get massages and they have a big room where kids can play. In short we loved it and we can understand why so many guests we befriended had returned over and over again to the hotel. It is absolutely stunning value for money: you get a lot more than what you are promised. We shall be back soon!
We had a great time there. Stayed there with the family for 3 days. The service was excellent. Food was great and we could taste fine italian wines. The rooms were large and clean. Also the Spa was perfect for us. Free Wifi and organizedhiking trips. A clear recommendation.
Perfect cosy room (with good beds, shower and enough space for two), food/ wine/ restaurant, sauna. Everything was very clean and the staff was very carefull and nice. We also had some nice gided walks. We would recomment the hotel.
I went to Velturno with two of my girl friends to enjoy a bit a peaceful extended weekend without our husbands and children - we did walking in the morning ( great place for bikers and hiking... - we are not very sportive, we recommend Sentiero delle castange ( around 5 hours walk from Chiusa - Bressanone...through wineyards and orchards...) and enjoying the spa and treatments in the afternoon. Single rooms quite small, but perfectly formed, very clean Double room have more space ... and are very nice. I missed complimentary toiletries (cosmetics- cotton pads, maybe also body miilk like in other 4* hotels in Austria/ Italy) and a bigger mirrow and bigger cupboard (usually for holidays in mountains you need quite a lot of clothes as you move a lot and you can not put the same cloths for evening dinner) Friendly and polite staff -not all I have to say. I missed also help with our luggage at check in and check out - no help was offered at us at all. Food very good and ample - especially in the morning ...and in the evening when really 5-course meal was offered (some evenings only 2 courses were served and other 3 of them were in buffet style... and if you come late...you don't get all the offer from the buffet. We didn't like at all opening hours of the dinner: 18.30 - 20.30 ... we did have some treatments in Castanea wellness spa at 7 pm and could not come in time for dinner - the waitresses looked at us very unfriendly even though at the receiption said we can come till 20.30 and still be served. Anyway at 21.30 it was supposed you leave the restaurant ...and as we came a bit late usually they didn't offer us the second glass of wine...that's a pity. Also a bar in the hotel closes at 23.00 and at this hour you are supposed to go in bed... and in whole village there is nothing open (we asked at the hotel reception) Good spa area with nice saunas and small outdoor pool; they offer very nice treatments (Anna is her massages and face treatment is great!!! I highly recommend) Some problems on last day with wifi ...otherwise free of charge... So great family hotel for bikers, hikers... as I mentioned I missed a bit a charm of vivid small town with some bars where you can take aperitif or digestif before/after dinner where waiters and waitresses don't look at you strangly if you order another glass of wine or you would to drink a cocktail at hour 23.00.
Our Dolomiti ski trip couldnt be any better. Hotel Taubers has a magnificent charm, with its design and all the facilities. Superb breakfast buffet as well as the dinners and a lovelly wine-tasting night. All with great care and attention to details. The staff is just perfect - taking a proper care and exceeding your expectation. The rooms are spacieus, spotless clean with the views over mountains. The sauna section is a blast, and a must after a long day on the slopes. Taubers offers everything You need in a most satisfying way. Alpine hotel with comforts You still cannot forget.
We stayed in this wonderful hotel for a short holiday of 4 days but loved it so much that we decided to extend our holiday for another day. This is a place where you can easily re-charge your batteries, forget your sorrows by waking up with fantastic view to the mountains, join the family and staff on hiking or biking tours or relax in a wonderful spa. Everything about this hotel is exceptional, it's a family run business, the family Tauber and their staff put their guests first, the food is delicious and even if you have never been sportive their weekly program with biking, hiking, yoga and wine tasting invites everyone without any pressure to become part of this adorable big "Hotel Unterwirt" family. This is a place that makes you feel home, the rooms are cosy and wonderful so that you want to start re-decorating your own home. In addition, the area of Felthurns has so much to offer with Klausen, Brixen and the whole Eisacktal, the wine of that region is fantastic and the mountains allow even unexperienced hikers and bikers to explore the wonderful world of outdoor sports. We will definitely be back and want to say thanks again to all who made our stay so wonderful, Franco, Stefan, the family Tauber - we look forward to seeing you soon again!
We spent there 10 Days this late sommer (September 2012) and i consider it as the best holiday ever. It was exactly what i wanted. Peacefull, luxurious to some point, in the middle of beautiful nature. The view is breathtaking, you don't need a car after you arrive, because everything is so close... we enjoyied very nice suite, loved the Dinner (best food i had in a long time and i do travel a lot), chilled at the pool in the Garden with afternoon sun, and the Finish or wett Sauna. We walked throught the Keschtenweg, which is a Panorama tour starting close to the hotel. We made ourselfs fire at the kamin at the room and just loved the view from the balcony (we had one of the Appartements on the top flor, there is a terasse over the top for everybody). They offer very nice wellness and the Family is involved also in Program, that is offered - daily bike tours or hiking tours furthder away. I already recommended this place to all my friends.. We are looking forward to come soon again. I do appreciatte, what the Taubers family does toi this place. It would never be so, if they weren't all the time reday to make you feel very welcome.
Our stay here was one we will never forget. From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff were genuinely kind and helpful. The trekking and mountain biking are absolute musts! The breakfast was great, the cake in the afternoon delicious, and the dinner in the evening was excellent (order the fabulous local wine). The scenery is to die for! We are already planning our next visit.
Single rooms quite small, but perfectly formed, some with balconies. Junior suites spacious, all with balconies. Rooms/bathrooms spotlessly clean. Unfortunately no complimentary toiletries in the bathroom, just a shower gel. Small minus: Towels very small and very thin. Ambiance in rooms could be improved by adding some paintings on the walls. Flat TVs with lots of foreign channels (in particular German/Austrian stations). Very friendly and polite staff. However: No help was offered to us (we are in our sixties) with the luggage by the young male receptionist who took us to our room. Food excellent and ample (5-course meal every night). Wines rather expensive for a 4star hotel. Good spa area, lots of different treatments offered. Treatments are on the more expensive side, quality of treatment varies a lot depending on staff, i.e. I had an excellent massage one day, and a nothing-to-write-home-about massage the next day. All in all, a very pleasant family run hotel, highly recommended for a short break.
Wellness and trekking hotel run by the same family for 6 generations. Located in the centre of the village of Velturno, on the mountain above Bressanone-Brixen. Daily mountain activities (trekking, nordic walking, mountain bike), indoor and outdoor pool, sauna and spa, beauty farm. Great cuisine, friendly staff, pleasing and well organised activity. I would definitively recommend it.
