We LOVED staying at Bromelias from the moment we first met Benita and Pedro, the owners (Noe) parents. They were so welcoming, kind and funny. Nothing was too much effort to please us. We even had fresh fruit from their garden delivered most days. Our cabaña was perfectly rustic and had everything we needed - kitchenette, tidy and clean bathroom, comfortable bed and a fabulous little balcony with a hammock and great view of the forest around us. We saw monkeys playing in the trees and birds of all varieties without even leaving the cabaña. Noe was also super helpful and knowledgable. We spent hours talking to him and Pedro, hearing their stories and advice and almost felt part of their beautiful family. We thought it was a great location too. Only about 500 metres from the centre of town but it felt like we were a million miles away. Bromelias is exactly what we were hoping to find in Costa Rica. Don't miss this one. Access can be a little challenging if you're mobility impaired but Noe is always available to help with his quad bike. It can be a bit hard to find if you haven't booked ahead. Just look for the sign after Pura Vida and send Noe a message on WhatsApp - 506 6138 5043. He'll probably pick you up from town :-).
Booked for 4 nights.stayed 1 night. Access is terrible with no lighting at night. The cabin set up for four had 1 table and chair. Cutlery consisted of 4 forks 3 dessert spoons and 1 knife. No wash basin in the bathroom. bathroom had no door. No where to store luggage. Shower head fell off when the shower was turned on. Approximately 8" space between the top of the walls and the roof which meant unrestricted access for the local wildlife. No wi fi.No hot water.definately no suitable for anybody with mobility problems
We found Bromelias to be such a great place to stay. It had a much better location than the places in town because it was smack in a lush valley, allowing us to really enjoy nature (which is exactly why we went to Drake Bay in the first place). We had our own cabana and balcony (with hammock), our own bathroom and kitchen, and the price was really good. They have a washing machine you can use for free too. I had to ask how to use it, but the lady was so friendly and helpful, I was glad I asked. We saved a lot of money by having our own kitchen too. The cabana was a little rustic and definitely not fancy, but we really liked it. It had everything we needed and more. And we could tell they obviously constructed the place with care. One morning, we sat on our balcony while white-faced capuchin monkeys moved around in the trees immediately surrounding us. Two of them hung down so they were almost at eye level with us. It was amazing! This never would have happened if we had been staying at one of the accommodations along the street. There were so many gorgeous tropical birds and parrots too. We especially enjoyed watching a pair of mot mots who had a nest nearby. If you arrive after dark (or find you might be out until after dark), you will absolutely need a flashlight to navigate your way down into the valley from the road. It isn’t a long way, but it would be impossible to do in the dark. There are quite a few smaller grocery stores/convenience stores on the road leading to Corcovado driveway, and one right across the street from the driveway, so that’s pretty convenient. I highly recommend staying here if you want the whole Corcovado experience.
2. Noe was an exceptional staff member that helped us with any thing we needed. He gave us a tour of the town with his quad motorcycle and showed us the best spots to buy fruits and vegetables. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and included a porch overlooking the tropical paradise Costa Rica is known for. We were excited to experience the sounds of birds, monkeys, and also see morpho butterflies and hummingbirds from our porch. I am very pleased with our experience because our had everything we needed to make meals and enjoy them in candle light (candle holders in the room were a great detail). During our stay, I misplaced my key and they gladly gave us a spare. Noe went above and beyond to help us book our boat out to Sierpe on our last day and also gave us a ride with our luggage on his quad motorbike. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a memorable stay in the beautiful Bahia Drake area.
