Access is easy from the railway station by taking the underground passage: follow signs to CENTRUM and then when you come back on to the street turn left to the hotel in 50 yards. It was the most expensive hotel on my trip for a week in eastern Europe but it was very good although I just stayed one night. My double room was huge though with windows only in the roof but you had a remote to open them and close the blinds - how naff! The bathroom was good too with a great bath for a soak. The was a minibar with beer, wine, water and soft drinks, crisps too. Wifi was good and the breakfast pretty good in a large conservatory style room. My evening meal in the bar was excellent, my waiter was just great and I am sure he knows he is a Putin lookalike but the food was super and his service faultless!
With its grand entrance opposite the station, and massive dining hall this place feels more expensive than it is. Staff were helpful and multi-lingual. Breakfast is very good and was included in my room rate. Anything you might want to see in Brno seems to be in walking distance. And even on the "railway" side of the building the room was quiet and comfortable.
A large hotel directly opposite the main station and airport bus stop. My room was on the 3rd floor and very quiet, no noise from outside and there didn't seem to be many other guests! I had booked a double but received a twin, which I wasn't too impressed with. The room was large, the beds were quite firm but acceptable. The room got very warm during the night and the air conditioning did very little. The bathroom was likewise large with a bath, but the shower wasn't very good. Like many big old hotels this one retains it's "grand" features but otherwise offers a budget experience - basic towels, cheap toilet paper, cheap and nasty toiletries... a shame. The breakfast was good, with a coffee machine for coffee and a range of quality hot and cold food options. There was also a sweet table filled with cake and pastries. Overall I was satisfied with my stay but the value for money wasn't great.
The Grandhotel Brno is ideal for the first time visitor as it is close to the central railway station and a few steps away from the old town which includes attractions such as the Cabbage Market (open air food and vegetable market), the Cathedral and the old town hall. We booked an Executive Double and were delighted by its huge size (corner room), view over the street and practical appointments - easily the largest hotel room we have experienced in a few years of travel in Europe. The hotel exudes an old world ambience but with modern furniture and fittings. The staff were helpful and efficient and the room was very clean. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was taken in a very nice dining room. The breakfast food was good and plentiful with the usual items such as eggs, bacon, cereal, etc on offer.
We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and we were very satisfied. The room was huge (more like a small apartment), with a very large toilet, clean, air-conditioned, and well kept. Staff was very helpful and kind, and breakfast excellent in a nice glass domed room. We were at the first floor on the main road side, and we didn’t get any significant noise as other reviewers warned. We slept well, and the beds were very comfortable. It is centrally located, near the station, and very well connected to public transports (buses, trams). The area in front of the station looked a bit rough, but the locals seemed to mind their own business, no hassling, no begging, no problems. Top marks, I will definitely go back to this hotel my next visit to Brno!
Great to place to stay. Just opposite Airport bus stop and main train station. Everything in walking distance. The staff are nice and friendly the hotel is very clean. The toilets, the lobby, the bar are also to very good standards. Everything you need is on your doorstep, shops, Food shops, bars, KFC, supermarket, bus station and a little Mall. Good choice.
The layout seemed to be a bit of a maze at first and the decor was a bit outdated in the room, but that's the only negatives I could find. The staff were friendly and approachable, the breakfast was great, the beds were comfy and the location couldn't have been better.
Soviet-style hotel with large rooms, empty spaces, old furnitures. The staff is aligned to the atmosphere of the place. The main plus point is the great breakfast. The hotel is just in front of the Train Station and the Regiojet bus station (former Student Agency). The city centre is very close, too.
On arrival checked in perfectly fine, the woman behind the desk was very helpful and polite. Spoke very good English.. Room- was very simple and nice, had excatly what it was meant to do, bed was comfy, a lot of room. Bathroom- was a good size and clean
Probably the best hotel in Brno, close to railway sation and buses, and also to the city centre with all its attractions. Helpful multi-lingual staff. Good varied breakfast served from 0630 to 1030. evening restaurant and bar, with pianist playing.
