We stayed here with a group for a tournament. The hotel has recently changed brands to become a Country Inn & Suites. Our room (king suite w/sleeper sofa) was clean and comfortable. Rooms have a mini fridge which is quite handy. Our team planned to have food delivered to the hotel so the players could all eat together. The staff was incredibly helpful in setting up a meeting room for us and checking back to be sure we had everything we needed. I believe employee's name that was helping us was Nick. This property was a great value in my opinion. It was easy to find, located close to shops and restaurants. I would stay here again if back in the area.
I always stay here whenever i am in South Bend , As my company is based out out of South Bend its centrally located & best is the University Park Mall ..& Best Price & lots of Fooding destinations . Excellent staff & new construction is also awesome .
Staff is very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast bar is very good. I have been coming to this hotel for years and have always had a pleasant experience. Avoid the hotel when there are hockey tournaments. The problem is not the children but their overbearing whiny parents.
Our family of 4 stayed at this hotel for our sons hockey tournament this past weekend. Definitely do not recommend! The hotel booked the reservation wrong and had our family booked into a room with 1 king bed. Upon arrival we were told there was no rooms even available. Stink bugs found in room, which I now see has been an ongoing problem since 2014 that has not been addressed. Pool was very cloudy and over chlorinated. Hotel tried to charge our hockey team and another team staying there up to $3000 for damage to an old room divider. The manager of the hotel would not even talk with our team manager, only had her desk staff deal with the situation while she hid at home or in her office. Then she tried to contact the tournament and have our team disqualified for refusing payment for damage not caused by our team. I also witnessed a staff member changing garbage at the breakfast bar without gloves and then touching breakfast bar items without washing her hands. Very unprofessional Manager or coordinator Susan who I sat and listened as she bad mouthed our team at the desk so the whole lobby could hear. I would never stay here again. Our team has put in a request for this hotel to be removed from Hockey Times list of affiliated hotels.
While this hotel is in a great location for any level of shopping, Resturant or pub you might be looking for, it is a fairly average HIE. Exterior appearance makes it look a little more "lodge like" but on inside its pretty standard. Shows a little wear and tear. Breakfast was what we've come to expect at most low to mid level traveler hotels, adequate but nothing special.
Usually have a great experience with this brand, this time was not even close. The only good thing about the property was the location to dining. The staff seemed like they just did not want to be there. Not too friendly or engaging. The breakfast was cold, and the eggs, well, that's what they look like, tasted like it was a week old. Could not even stomach trying anything but a banana. I had the unfortunate chance to see an employee preparing the food without any gloves on and scratching her head. The electrical outlets were not in the most convenient locations, and were loose. Not a huge deal, mostly inconvenient when you need to iron or work. Then to top it off, the last day I was there, had an encounter with a spider in my bathroom! Looked up at the vent, and it was covered with spider webs. Could not get out of there faster! I did alert the front desk, and she said she would tell housekeeping, really didn't seem to care much. Not all Holiday Inn Express are like this, won't be back at this location.
This hotel didn't seem like a holiday inn express to me. I would say that it is in definite need of some updates. It really seemed kind of worn and musty. This is probably the worst holiday inn express I've stayed at.
Loved our one night stay at the new Holiday Inn. It opened on September 17th which coincidently is the day we we're very fortunate to find a vacancy on a Notre Dame football game after dumping another hotel in the area that was too horrid to stay at. The rooms are lovely. Beds very nice. Big TVs. Nice sized bathrooms and well appointed. Nice little breakfast spot downstairs. All in all a great spot!
My wife, dog, and I stayed here on August 19, 2016. Very good. The front desk clerk, Amy, was nice. Ask for a room on the second floor facing the back of the property. If you have a dog, the cemetery next door is a pleasant place to go for a walk. The nearby Martin's supermarket is a great place to buy food and drinks. The hotel wifi is poor, and there was no do not disturb sign in our room.
Unlike others that charge a ridiculous pet fee they are very reasonably priced.Nice grassy area behind hotel for pets business. As a bonus next to hotel is a cemetery with asphalt drive great for walking Fido to burn off some of that energy from car riding.Lovely room, comfy bed and great breakfast plus a noon checkout.
