The hotel / residence / apartments, are a little tired, and the food in the restaurant is average. The staff are really really helpful and the pool area is clean and tidy. However the main reason to go here are the amazing views overlooking Capri.
My Wife and I had been invited to attend a three day, family friends wedding at the Re Blue near by. We chose to stay the week staying at Gocce di Capri. What a delightful place. The apartments are clean and very adequate. Pool great, and also the restaurant, who also do take away. What really made our stay all the more enjoyable were the amazing staff, who all went out of their way for us from initial check in, arranging transfers to and from the two hotel, to check out, and also their friendliness. Thank to Marriana, Christina, Gussipi, and Adriana (apologies for my spelling of names) Keep up the great work. Hope to may be catch Gussipi in UK November time.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We asked and we received...answers to questions, a grill to use, etc. They did all they could to get us anything we needed. The view was great and you really can't get view like that for this price anywhere else on the Amalfi coast. The hotel itself is not easy to get to, but with the excursions we booked, transportation to and from the hotel was always included which meant we wouldn't have been limited even if we didn't have our car. The pool was clean and never really super crowded. The restaurant was good and not terribly overpriced. Our family had a great time there. We took advantage of the Fishing Tour, my husband had a great time, not for serious fishermen, but a great look at how things are done in the area. It was a really laid back insider view of fishing Italian style, he really had a blast. We went on the tour of Capri as well, we enjoyed the boat tour around the Island, but the Island itself was a bit too crowded for our taste, nothing to do with the hotel of course, just something we wouldn't do again. The little beach down the road, Marina Del Cantone, (ten minutes by car) was great, not as crowded or as expensive as Positano or Amalfi but just as beautiful. We enjoyed 2 half days there. Chairs on the beach were 20 euro for 2 chairs and umbrella (with the hotel discount). We ordered fresh fruit and Prosecco from Mary's Beach restaurant and sat on our loungers enjoying the sun. We snorkeled a little in the very clear water. We also went to Pompei and Herculeneum on two separate days, the traffic was crazy getting there and back, but also part of the experience for us so we didn't mind too much. If you want to really experience Italy, you have to leave your hotel and go out and do it. If you just want a beach vacation, you can do that anywhere there is coastline. This hotel is definitely off the beaten path, this didn't bother us because we had a car to get around, but it may be a turn off to those without personal transportation. The things I can think of that might need improvement are that it would have been convenient to have things like salt, pepper, sugar, oil and vinegar in the apartment. We asked for salt and sugar and they provided to us, but it would have just made cooking in the room easier as you typically don't want to buy things like that for just a one week. Also there were ants in the room as mentioned by other reviewers, but my husband and I are used to this in Florida, most hotels by the ocean have their fair share of pests. There was also some spots with mildew on the walls near the bathroom, but we live in Italy and understand this is pretty common, but it's also maintained and it was obvious it had been scrubbed before. My biggest complaint is one that is not likely to get fixed, in our apartment, it was the 1 bedroom with pull out couch set up, there was the tiniest shower I have ever seen. We laughed about it all week because the only one in our family who could comfortably shower in there was my tiny 13 yo daughter. The rest of us showered with the doors open so we didn't constantly bang our elbows. I can only speak for our apartment though, I don't know what the showers were like in the other rooms.
I was so happy when I stumbled across this beautiful little gem. I had been searching for a hotel for a while and was so happy when o found Gocce. The hotel is absolutely stunning. Fantastic views across to Capri and Ischia islands and not to mention the sunsets!! You simply couldn't match the view anywhere else on the Amalfi coast. I loved the chilled out vibe around the pool. The staff were exceptional, a credit to the hotel. They were so helpful and helped us navigate around Amalfi. They also booked some trips for us and recommended places to eat and visit. Breakfast - the breakfast was just what we needed to start the day. A selection of pastries, fruit, toast, cheese and meats plus any drink of your choice. Three out of the seven nights we were there, we ate at the hotel's restaurant Gocce di Capri Restaurant. The food was exquisite! We couldn't find anywhere that compared to this place for food. It was so nice. Hats off to the chef and the staff there! The view from our room was simply amazing. A beautiful clear view of the island of Capri and the sea. We often did yoga on our terrace, it was big enough and had a nice shaded umbrella if we needed it. The rooms were small, but who spends time in their hotel on the Amalfi Coast! I can't thank the staff at Gocce for making our stay the best! We can't wait to return.
We woke up every morning with a breathtaking view of Capri. The apartments were comfortable, spacious and clean. When we first checked in we were given excellent tips for day trips, hiking, shopping and dining. The location is nice and quiet, and a great place to start your daily adventures from. The tours they offer are convenient (hotel pick-up) and competitively priced. We took advantage of the Capri boat tour and had a great experience. All in all a lovely place I would highly recommend.
Well where do i start, firstly i totally agree with what the gentleman W Trey before me has written to it 100%, For me what did it was the staff and as stated before they do become your family away, we stumbled on this place (and so glad we did) as we were going to stay 1 night anyway extended it to another 3. The service here as i have said in the title is as what you would expect in 1 of the 5 stars in Mayfair London hotels, i simply cannot find a fault. We travelled with our 14 month old Ava and they were so accommodating and absolutely adore children here. If your thinking of staying elsewhere like Positano/Amalfi/Sorrento and want to be on top of each other by all means do. Here at Gocci its the perfect leaping board to other places such as above providing you rent a car or have already rented one, you then come back to the peace, tranquillity and 5 Star service of this place. Ultimately if you want to relax and not go anywhere this is the place. The rooms are in good condition we rented an apartment in which everything was working fine. If there was an issue it was dealt with immediately. Laundry service, baby sitting service at very reasonable prices. I am so glad we came to this place in Southern Italy and to think i was going to spend this time in Lake Como and didnt because of the weather there, thank you bad weather in north italy!! Waking up to this every morning and the peace is priceless for everything else there is Mastercard! Thank you and see you soon
Just off the road, up the mountain from Termini, one can see "something" down the hill. The small, unassuming sign that welcomes anyone looking for a place to really "live" and not just "stay", says Gocce di Capri and you'd better stop... or you'll be missing essential Italy. Greeted warmly by staff and quickly visited by managers, Mariano and Marco, (whom, if acting... they'd be up for an Academy Award) make your every wish possible. "You are welcome here, my friends...", is sure to be among the sincere words of Marco and Mariano as you settle in. However, your check-in might be delayed a bit due to the near blinding beauty of the sea, the Isle of Capri, the Isle of Ischia and the sun (or moon) bouncing off the waves of the Tyrrhenian Sea. (Careful! Your eyes may become stuck and you'll miss the hospitality and comfort that awaits you!) I've been to many, many hotels with staff who snaps to attention and scenery that could bring a tear to a hardened con, but the Gocce di Capri is no hotel with staff that runs for your every need. No, the Gocce di Capri is your home and the staff will quickly become your family! If you miss it, and don't enjoy even a single day at this "home" on top of a mountain... you might as well go home. You must do so, because you've skipped one of the best aspects of Southern Italy: Hotel Gocce di Capri!
I stayed to the "gocce di Capri" last week end and it isn' t the first time; this time it was much nicer than the previous one. It has been a crescendo of emotions and breathtaking views. Generally, the guests are international, very few Italians, except us. Winning team at the reception: Cristina is well ready and involving your mind with its proposals for future periods of vacations and also Marianna is very professional. Also the support team is winning: Luigi and the other guys make you feel comfortable even if you come from India or Norway. The rooms have all the beautiful views over Capri and over the whole gulf of Naples; Last night at sunset I could see the promontory of the Circeo behind the island of Procida. The rooms are delicious and my with fully equipped kitchen. Perhaps the bathroom can be improved. The location is strategic because you can go for any direction to visit or choose to go to Sorrento to enjoy the movida or stay in total relaxation on your panoramic terrace. I relax this time. The pool is big enough and no one stays without a sunbed.Rarely you may have discomfort in pool noise or excessive volume of conversations, but it depends on guests and not on hotel facility. I go to the to relax and reload; obviously I will go back to the "Gocce".
Drove south past Napoli and Sorrento to Massa Lubrense in the Campania region. Residence Gocce di Capri, Massa Lubrense near Sorrento was very nice with views of Capri and lush vegetation. Christina, our host, was excellent. She was very friendly and took the time to help me with directions, information and even a taste of lemoncello. The apartment was large but only a small washroom for a family of four. The washroom worked despite the tiny shower, don't drop the soap! The best part of the apartment is the large balcony with amazing vistas. To make things a little easier for guests, perhaps make sure of dish soap, paper towels/cloths, broom, ran out of toilet paper and salt and pepper, some basics. Linens are not changed for a five day stay, but fresh towels were provided. Ask, however, and Christina promptly would provide most necessities. And, for almost $1200. Cdn. for five days, there should be some housekeeping when on vacation. We drove to a market nearby for food and drink as meals were not included. Right out of the gate is a short walk to Termini with a small grocery store, cafe and lemoncello factory. Grocery shopping is part of the fun for us, we tried many different cheeses and meats, the local butcher is always willing to let one taste. Pool closed a bit early, at 7, so we always seemed to be rushing back for a swim. Anyway, after travelling through Greece, we finally have a pool to enjoy and the grounds are very nice. And there is so much to do here I don't even think we can fit it all in. I wouldn't visit Santorini again, maybe not even Greece, but I'm already thinking about coming to this region again. Tip: close the windows at night as there are mosquitoes and no screens. GC! Terrific that everything must be recycled, but if you added screens you would save on air conditioning, electricity as well! Also, it seems that hotel staff allow their friends to use the pool when there are guests paying. If I owned Gocce di Capri… I would give Christina a raise…and… Serve breakfast to guests in the morning after filling out their order the night before Provide housekeeping when requested for any length of stay Provide, initially, some local products…lemoncello, chilled in the freezer, olive oil, pasta, tomatoes for the first night, a few veggies for pasta, plus a bottle of red and white wine I would provide salt and pepper, balsamic vinegar, coffee, tea, and any other basic staples Why isn't the pool open longer than 7? And I would encourage people to call GC directly to avoid Expedia, it may save you money.
Obviously the view from the apartments is the main draw to Gocce de Capri but it has so much more. Our 2 bedroom apartment was good and lovely and bright. We were upgraded from our booked 1 bed apartment to a 2 bedded which was very acceptable. We dined in the restaurant 2 nights and both times the food was good and the staff friendly. The pool was not busy as it is still a quiet time in Italy, but it was lovely and clean and not freezing cold. We certainly would recommend a stay here as it is not as busy as the main tourist route on the Amalfi Coast where we stayed prior to our visit. Will certainly go back!
