Drove south past Napoli and Sorrento to Massa Lubrense in the Campania region. Residence Gocce di Capri, Massa Lubrense near Sorrento was very nice with views of Capri and lush vegetation. Christina, our host, was excellent. She was very friendly and took the time to help me with directions, information and even a taste of lemoncello. The apartment was large but only a small washroom for a family of four. The washroom worked despite the tiny shower, don't drop the soap! The best part of the apartment is the large balcony with amazing vistas. To make things a little easier for guests, perhaps make sure of dish soap, paper towels/cloths, broom, ran out of toilet paper and salt and pepper, some basics. Linens are not changed for a five day stay, but fresh towels were provided. Ask, however, and Christina promptly would provide most necessities. And, for almost $1200. Cdn. for five days, there should be some housekeeping when on vacation. We drove to a market nearby for food and drink as meals were not included. Right out of the gate is a short walk to Termini with a small grocery store, cafe and lemoncello factory. Grocery shopping is part of the fun for us, we tried many different cheeses and meats, the local butcher is always willing to let one taste. Pool closed a bit early, at 7, so we always seemed to be rushing back for a swim. Anyway, after travelling through Greece, we finally have a pool to enjoy and the grounds are very nice. And there is so much to do here I don't even think we can fit it all in. I wouldn't visit Santorini again, maybe not even Greece, but I'm already thinking about coming to this region again. Tip: close the windows at night as there are mosquitoes and no screens. GC! Terrific that everything must be recycled, but if you added screens you would save on air conditioning, electricity as well! Also, it seems that hotel staff allow their friends to use the pool when there are guests paying. If I owned Gocce di Capri… I would give Christina a raise…and… Serve breakfast to guests in the morning after filling out their order the night before Provide housekeeping when requested for any length of stay Provide, initially, some local products…lemoncello, chilled in the freezer, olive oil, pasta, tomatoes for the first night, a few veggies for pasta, plus a bottle of red and white wine I would provide salt and pepper, balsamic vinegar, coffee, tea, and any other basic staples Why isn't the pool open longer than 7? And I would encourage people to call GC directly to avoid Expedia, it may save you money.
Obviously the view from the apartments is the main draw to Gocce de Capri but it has so much more. Our 2 bedroom apartment was good and lovely and bright. We were upgraded from our booked 1 bed apartment to a 2 bedded which was very acceptable. We dined in the restaurant 2 nights and both times the food was good and the staff friendly. The pool was not busy as it is still a quiet time in Italy, but it was lovely and clean and not freezing cold. We certainly would recommend a stay here as it is not as busy as the main tourist route on the Amalfi Coast where we stayed prior to our visit. Will certainly go back!
Mountaintop hotel with a great view! Pool and restaurant were also fantastic. Amazing view of Capri from our hotel balcony. Staff and workers were all extremely nice and went out of their way to help us out with extra things as well. About 20 minutes to sorrento which makes this hotel a prime location!
We had the most wonderful stay here! It has the most breathtaking view of the sea and of capri as soon as you pull in. The views from your own private balcony are even more amazing. The people are so warm and friendly and go out if their way to Make sure you have a wonderful stay. Every person we met was wonderful! The restaurant and bar have great food and again a beautiful view. We rented a car and took day trips to Rome, Naples and other areas and it was so nice to come back to this peaceful spot. I have been to Italy several times and this spot is by far the most beautiful place to stay!! You will be treated like family!
This hotel is up on a mountain top overlooking the ocean with beautiful views. The restaurant has good food and the breakfast wasnt that great. The transportation to get to the hotel took us 5 hrs to figure out switching buses waiting couple hrs for next bus etc which was very frustrating. I have only positive things to say about the staff and the size of the room was huge! But the thing that was most irritating which will not make me come back is transportation. Theres only one bus stop around the hotel and it stops running at 6pm. So you have to leave where ever you are enjoying to catch the bus back by about 420pm. Theres no buses no taxis nothing. There is absolutely nothing around the hotel so you have to take a bus about 20 min out to sorrento.
We had an exceptional three night stay here and were delighted by how kind the staff were. They went out of their way to share information about the surrounding areas which included activities, restaurants and shops. The hotel is situated on the mountain with a stunning view of Capri. Wouldn't hesitate in coming back here. Highly recommend!
We stayed at Gocce di Capri in mid September and had a great experience. We had a spacious 2-bedroom flat with a large balcony looking at Capri. The kitchen was fully equipped and very handy. We enjoyed the pool and the cocktail bar too. Excellent place for families too. The hotel is located about 15-20 minutes from all the Amalfi sights. Enjoy!
The place was hard to find and limited parking places. Good restaurant with view and good food. Nice swimmingpool. We were 4 adults the extra room was intended for kids. Not very comfortable. The plastic furniture on the terrance were tired old and needed cushions . Nice staff but not english speaking as announced. Wifi was in and out, not to count on. Emma
We stayed here in August. We were very impressed with the hotel, which has the most beautiful views of the Island of Capri and you will never forget the sun setting as long as you live. It is located in Termini a very charming little area, the hotel is a 5 minute walk to the bus stop to Sorrento, the buses are never on time but nor are they more than 5-10 minutes late. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and extremely helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant is okay, we only ate there once as we preferred to eat whilst out on trips, during our stay we quite easily managed to travel around the coast without a car, via bus, train and ferry. The pool is clean and the children enjoyed using it as often as they could. The only thing this hotel could improve on is the breakfast, which we found limited, such a fantastic hotel would I'm sure benefit from a buffet type breakfast. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and we will return in the future.
The view is definitely beautiful! The pool is beautiful, but closes at 7pm! The restaurant downstairs, had a beautiful view, good food, and great staff. The morning breakfast was delicious and the young blonde guy was terrific. However, the inside is very cramped for 5 people, more suitable for 2 or 3. The inside needs to be updated badly, and there was a terrible ant infestation, crawling into our suitcases, in our sheets, and on our faces at night. spoke with others and they had the same problem. The Si-Fi was very intermittent as well. Would not stay here again.
