We have stayed in the hotel on the last week of August. We have booked through a travel agency. From Naples Airport, it took around 45 minutes-1 hour to reach to the hotel. We paid EUR110 to taxi-it is a fixed price from Napels to Sorrento. Our room was already ready when we have arrived at around 13:00. Room: The room was smaller than we have expected but had a great sea view. Despite the size, it was good to see the great view every morning. It is always cleaned and towels, toilettireas are all refreshed. Not a luxury room but has satisfactory standards. Pool: It has a small and a cosy pool. A good pool bar and a good service. Food is only available in certain hours so don’t forget to check out the hours. Pool was one of the best areas where we have spent time, relaxing on comfortable chairs, nice and quiet. Not so many children, not very suitable for families with kids. Sea: It has own area on the sea side reachable with elevator. You have to take a pass from reception, to use that area on the beach. ( not a sand beach ) It isn’t one of the best sea as it is a volcanic beach but still a good experience to swim by looking at cliffs, a great view. Restaurants, bars: A very good breakfast with different alternatives. It is served in Roof restaurant. The balcony is very small. You need to be lucky to grab a table. If you do, it is amazing feeling to start a day with such a great view. Very good service with friendly, polite waiters. For dinner, don’t forget to book a table beforehand. Again, it has a lovely sunset and a great food and service. Definetly, romantic. We have used aquabar only during the day or sometimes after dinner, at night. I would reccomend after dinner, at night by the pool. Aperol Spritz and Gyntonic were my favorites. Best one is without any question is the skybar. Unfortunately, nearly everynight there was a wedding and the bar was closed for the hotel guests. In 5 nights, we have managed to use the skybar only once which was very dissapointing. However, that night was unforgettable with a great view, food, drink and a live music. By coincidence, we have also catched the fireworks that night. The starters, service is high quaity. Wine menu was rich. No need to say the prices were nearly double but worth it... Most of the othernights, we have used hotel shuttle to go to Sorrento and preffered to have dinner in different locations in the town. Also there are alternatives around the hotel. Hotel Shuttle: Learn the hours from the reception, totally free.Very practicle to go the town. No need to use a taxi. In the evenning hours as most of the guests prefer to use the shuttle, book your seat from reception couple of hours ago. Sevice, reception: All people who were working were very friendly and helpfull. Weather: It was perfect, generally cool in the hotel as it is at high.In oulast day it surprisingly rained!!!! It was very strong rain but again it was great watching th view. In general, in my opinion, a great place for couples & friends - it is “the place to be”.
Considering the hefty rates these rooms rent for, this hotel was a terrible disappointment. Other than great views from its Sky Bar and room windows, and some helpful women behind the desk, Mediterraneo is nothing special: 1. Breakfasts are surprisingly bad, with cheap cheese, breads and cured meats offered. Scrambled eggs are very soft and unappealing, as is the bacon and sausage offered with them. Once the maître d' offered me eggs over easy made to order. What I got was a sunny side egg, not turned over, burned on the underside and all runny and undercooked on the yolk side. 2. The pool is lovely but there aren't enough loungers at a busy time. The whirlpool is not hot enough. 3. The view from the Sky Bar is nice at sunset - if they will allow guests in. They are extremely snooty and not welcoming there. Drinks are way overpriced. 4. The only TV programming in English is news from CNN, BBC and Russian propaganda in English on the RT channel. 5. The hotel offers a shuttle between it and town but it runs way too infrequently.
My girlfriend and I are midway through our stay, I'm currently sat on our roof terrace watching the sun go down (see pics). This hotel is about a 20 minute walk from Sorento, or 5 mins on the free shuttle bus. There is literally. Irving to see by walking so the bus is recommended. The service is impeccable the staff can't do enough for you. There are fresh towels twice a day. The roof top bar (you must book) is a must. The only criticism would be you are not allowed to use the fridge for items not bought at the hotel, no food or drink not bought at the hotel is to be consumed also there are no tea or coffee making facilities. To be honest we knew this when we booked so we bought a travel kettle. We have also bought and kept bottles in the fridge to enjoy on our terrace. In my opinion Sorento is worth a look but we wouldn't like to stop there. Hotel Mediterraneo is perfect as it's just out of the way and has the best views. If you fancy a casual night however there is a great restaurant directly opposite. We have been a few times now and it only gets better. At the hotel you must be smart in the evenings.
Whilst the room and hotel in general was good. It was extremely noisy - our sea view room which did have a small balcony and a lovely view fronted onto a busy road with traffic and noise through most of the night and then rubbish trucks early morning. The pool area was also noisy from the adjacent building.
An old fashioned hotel in the best possible way. Modern and trendy interiors within a charming period building, set high on the cliffs with fantastic views over the bay to Naples and Sorrento. Slightly dated bathroom and small bedroom did not detract from an overall excellent experience. The staff are, without exception, friendly, professional and work with a happy heart which makes their guests feel special and valued. A special mention to Aldo, thanks for your friendly service. Food was outstanding, breakfast varied and plentiful. There is a BBQ evening around the pool which was not as well attended as it deserved - a variety of antipasti, pasta dishes, fish, meat and deserts in a pretty setting and although we were booked on a bed & breakfast basis, was complimentary. There are also delicious and varied complimentary canapes served around the pool bar between 6.30 and 8pm everyday - a nice touch. There were several weddings and local celebrations during our stay which restricted some areas at times, but we didn't find them particularly intrusive. All in all, great service, lovely setting and a perfect base to discover Sorrento and the Amalfi coast.
we came for a tour of Amalfi coast and were so pleased with our room and its views. We booked through Riviera travel and were initially given a small poky room with poor view-just like a cupboard( room 300) A few trips to reception got us a much better room with view of Sorrento coast from one window and Vesuvius from another ( although still not the balcony we were promised) room 408. The rooms are small as per normal but we spent little time in there. The pool is excellent and the view from the rooftop Skybar is amazing ( as are the drink prices) breakfast was good with a picture perfect view every day and the pool restaurant food was amazing. The hotel caters for weddings on a saturday, monday wednesday thursday so expect large noisy crowds in the hotel and areas blocked off that you cannot use at times and the music goes on until midnight which is the only downside. There is a shuttle in the day to Sorrento but we mainly walked and it took 20 mins. Perfect location, perfect staff and we will return The pool side staff were so friendly and helpful and always so polite.
We love this hotel and everything it has to offer which is why we keep coming back time and again. Amazing sea views, beautiful pool area with great bar, shuttle service to Sorrento and super friendly and helpful staff all make it one of our favorites places to stay in. Special thanks to Americo the pool boy :) Our only suggestion for improvement would be to add a coffee and tea set to the rooms. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay from the Zelivansky family in Tel-Aviv, Israel
We were there for a family wedding which, in itself, was great and beautifully organised by the hotel (from our guest perspective at least). Staff are all friendly and efficient, rooms comfortable, albeit on the compact side, food good (although a shame that lunch is only served until 2.30), pool much nicer than the hotel photos show, good shuttle service into Sorrento and Sky bar lovely. All in all a very positive experience and I would have no qualms about recommending this hotel.
Lovely week spent at Mediterraneo. Hotel very well kept, especially pool area. Staff excellent and welcoming without exception. Beware the limited access to the roof terrace - chose this hotel specifically because of terrace and never got access during the day, and only two nights out of 6 with v high costs of drinks. Also had to like weddings as there were 4 during our week visit.
A really great hotel, well placed just outside of Sorrento. The staff are extremely nice and go the extra mile to ensure a great stay. The rooms are very clean and airy (we had the family room with mezzanine floor), we had some very minor issues (plug socket stopped working) that were resolved almost immediately by the staff. The pool area is great, plenty loungers and relaxing chairs available with a good ambience, very relaxing. There aren't really any inflatables allowed in the pool so bear this in mind. However there is access to a private beach where the kids can take inflatables. The food is also great, with a well stocked breakfast on the 5th floor, with some of the very best views in Sorrento. The 5th floor restaurant in the evening has great food, really good with top class service by well trained and attentive staff. The Sky Bar is amazing, a 360 degree roof top view that will be a massive highlight of any trip, the drinks are a little on the high side in there but certainly worth a trip to see the sunset alone! Opens 2-3 nights a week and you need to book beforehand. The hotel has a free bus that takes you into Sorrento bus stop, from there it's a 2-3 minute walk to Tasso square. The return bus runs until 11pm. The Hotel is a 25-30 minute walk into Sorrento itself. Taxis are expensive, we paid between €18 - €29 from the centre to the hotel, they seem to operate under their own pricing rules, which seems to be as baffling as the highway code out there... ;-)
