We've just got back after having spent a lovely week here at the Ascot. It's a great budget friendly, basic hotel in a fabulous location. Literally a couple of minutes walk gets you to the town centre and a few more will have you down to the cliffs overlooking the bay of Naples. The hotel itself is clean, the staff are wonderful and the pool is beautifully maintained. Our room was a little on the small side but it was clean and the air conditioning worked so we were happy! One thing worth mentioning, not all the double rooms are double beds. We had one with two singles which was a bit of a disappointment. The back of the hotel does sacrifice views but it was quiet so we slept well. The rooms do have hairdryers but don't expect them to work very well. The pool is just lovely. It's so clean and a proper little heat trap! I did think it was a shame it had limited opening hours, only 9am-6pm. I'd have loved an early morning or evening swim! The food in the evening can be a bit hit and miss. Their pasta dishes were phenomenal but the meat/fish and deserts let them down a bit. None of it was bad by any stretch of the imagination, but there were a couple of nights when we'd have struggled to pick something and enjoy it. We did end up eating out a few times because of that. Breakfasts are great though. A lovely selection of fruit, meats, cheese, cereals, baked goods and scrambled eggs. The coffee was lovely too! If we were to go back I'd skip the dinners and just eat out. Sorrento has so many wonderful restaurants it seems a shame eating in the one place every evening.
We travelled to the Ascot to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well positioned for the restaurants, gift shops, etc. The hotel food was excellent and the bar prices were very reasonable. The pool area and courtyard were clean, as were the rooms. The staff were very friendly and hardworking. Would not hesitate to return here or recommend.
we have just had a very nice 7 day break at the Ascot hotel in Sorrento, the staff are extremely helpfull nothing was too much trouble. our room was cleaned to a high standard daily , in fact all areas of the hotel were to a high standard. our room had a sea view which was very nice . the room also had a fridge which helped keep the local wine chilled for those night cap drinks :) . we would certainly return hopefully this year . signing off CSI . thankyou for a very warm welcome. carl
We booked this hotel with Topflight ( last week of May) and spent a lovely week in beautiful Sorrento celebrating my birthday and our Wedding anniversary . Very convenient to walk to town. Room 508 was on the top floor with lovely views. While the room was a little small we had a very spacious balcony .We had fresh towels and toiletries every day & our bed was made up by friendly staff. Breakfast was plentiful with delicious coffee! Roberto & his dining staff were very courteous & attentive. Evening meals were an acquired taste but enjoyable nevertheless. Paola in the bar was a great character...always in good form and served fabulous Ascot cocktails & beer which were reasonably priced. Reception staff were extremely helpful. Our walking tour was very informative & helped us to get a good feel of the places to visit. The boat trip of the Amalfi Coast/ Capri was superb as was my husbands trip to Pompeii. We will return again to this most welcoming hotel and City.
We came to this lovely hotel to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We were given in my opinion the best room in the hotel as it had our own sun terrace, sun beds , fantastic sea view. Our inward flight was delayed so we didn't get to our destination until well after dark, we were advised that there was a cold meal awaiting us in the restaurant which was most welcome indeed. When we eventually got to bed we zonked , woke refreshed and opened our veranda door to wow!!!!! The most fantastic view! Ok the wifi is a bit iffy but persevere and there's no problem! There are a few gripes but the friendliness of the staff over came this . Our thanks to Roberto, Guido, Antonio, Maria, Rosaria, and not forgetting our zany Paola, and the lady behind the reception desk who made our fortnight a memorable one. Mille grazi !
We booked this hotel through Thomson for 10 days as my son was getting married family and friends were all booked at various other hotels, 37 people. Before going in mid June we read the reviews and were a little concerned at some comments and emailed Thomson with these. We need not have been concerned at all from the time we arrived until the time we left the hotel staff were brilliant. Very helpful and friendly. Our room was up to standard, cleaned and fresh bedding daily. Compared to some of the hotels our family were staying our room was much larger. We did have a room on the front of the hotel so we did get traffic noise however most of the central hotels are all the same, Sorrento is so busy the noise can not be avoided, stay a little out of the main town if this is not something you can put up with. Rooms are as sound proof as they could possibly be. Food was good, we had a decent breakfast and evening meals were good. Evening meals were large portions and never felt still hungry after. The hotel is very well kept compared to some of the hotels we passed while in Sorrento. Rooms have hair dryers and a kettle. All in all the hotel is well kept very friendly and helpful staff . Clean well kept room and very reasonable food. Yes you do get noise from passing traffic and Sorrento is very busy, if you do stop in the middle of Sorrento you will experience this no matter where you stay. If the noise really bothers you ask for a room at the rear of the hotel and not at the front. We felt comfortable, looked after and valued by the staff at Ascot while there . We would recommend the hotel , we never experienced any of the negative from previous reviews. Sorrento is very beautiful and the trips we did were also lovely, we have been and seen and also experienced a lovely wedding. Wouldn't rush back as we have seen all we wanted to but would recommend people go to visit.
We stayed here for a night in Sorrento and the hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had lunch and it was absolutely beautiful and the prices were very, very reasonable. I would like to return to Sorrento and I would be happy to stay in this hotel. The only downside was that the pillows were extremely hard and the aircon was noisy. There was music playing from a nearby hotel but it stopped about 11.30pm.
Terrible,terrible,terrible......please don't book. Not even a 2 star hotel. Food not edible, miserable restaurant staff. My husband ordered the fresh fruit for dessert and was given the fruit bowl off the dresser! No idea why this hotel is in brochures. No idea how reviewers give it more than a one.... We've been home a week and still can't believe the state of it!
Just returned from a cosmos tour around the Amalfi coast . We stayed at the Ascot hotel for two days. The hotel is lovely and food very good . The staff are so helpful and accommodating .I was unable to eat the entree so they made me a fresh alternative it was delicous. The breakfast was plentiful with gorgeous croissants and fresh fruit cold meats etc. The waiter served beautiful coffee . Shops supermarket etc within walking distance. Mini bar in hotel we put our own beverages in it . All rooms have balcony . Ideal hotel and location . Would stay again
Just spent a lovely week at the Hotel Ascot in Sorrento. The position is ideal right in the centre of the town, a short walk to the main square. The staff are wonderful - the food is adequate, breakfast good, dinner not so but we never went hungry.. Lunches at the hotel were very good and reasonably priced. Our room was on the fourth floor overlooking the main street, with a very large balcony/terrace and a sea view - wonderful. Comfy beds and very clean and well presented. All in all we had a really lovely time and would recommend The Ascot. Ten out of ten for position and helpfulness of the staff.
