The hotel staff are friendly and responsive to your needs. The rooms are spacious. It's hard to get an iron and ironing board, and if available the one you get, the ironing board is so small. The food in the restaurant is very basic and tastes like an average home cooked meal. Recommend you eat outside the hotel.
First visit to Italy. Rooms spacious, cleaned every day. Food smashing good variety. Comfortable dining room. Great situation handy for buses, shops, bars etc. Would definately be happy to recommend this Hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Just returned from a week at this hotel and although we enjoyed our holiday in Sorrento and the location of this hotel is very good for exploring the town and its attractions, I have to say that I would not recommend it to anyone considering a stay there. We had a first floor room overlooking the garden and outside sitting area of the hotel, but also with a view of the very busy road. The road noise was evident all of the time, including through the night. The worst thing about this place was the food on offer. The menu was very limited and repetitive and the food quality was abysmal. We were on half board but ate out on 4 of the seven nights. On two occasions we went to the restaurant, in the cellar, and after ordering and trying the food on offer we decided to leave it and find a restaurant nearby.
This hotel was a find by accident. We were to stay in a different hotel but since we have kids on this trip, this was given to us as option. location is great - right on main street of Sorrento - Corsa Italia where best of the best of dining and shopping is just in walking distance. The shops remain open till midnight so it is very safe. The only downside to that may be that it is very busy, but for us it was a plus since busy with people meant safe. The bar in the hotel has cozy indoor and very casual outdoor sitting area outside. Prices are very reasonable for the district. The restaurant is very clean and staff is professional. Quality of cooking is comparable to high end but with very very reasonable prices. The best quality of this hotel is English speaking staff with very warm attitude towards guest. They are ready to help anyone and everyone. Roberto, the owner of the place is very genuine and kind. We would definitely come here again.
We are staying at the Hotel Ascot and I have to say it's a lovely Hotel. All the staff are lovely. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the bathroom is large too. The food has been lovely all fresh local food, there is hot food, ham, cheeses, pastries, yoghurts, fresh fruit and toast for breakfast. The evening meal there are choices of three starters, three mains and three desserts, these are local dishes which are lovely. Yesterday I had shrimp risotto followed by a pork escalope with ham and cheese and seasonal vegetables and a lovely fresh fruit salad with some lovely local lacrima Christi rise wine, simple but beautiful and full of flavour. The hotel is perfectly situated for Sorrento's main square being a maximum 10 minute amble. If you like relaxed family run hotels then come here is lovely.
The Ascot Hotel is located ideally for most every requirement for your visit to Sorrento it is kept clean and smart, the rooms well serviced (the bed could have been a bit wider) and all staff polite and informative. My wife is vegetarian and I do not eat meat or poultry (I eat fish) there was always ample choice on the dinner menu to accommodate, portions not massive but perfectly adequate. The breakfast menu is continental and boiled or scrambled eggs everyday, good enough. bar prices in the hotel are very good and comparable to town bar prices and what I thought excellent they operated a tab system so you could pay at reception daily weekly at your convenience credit cards are accepted. The holiday tax 1,5 euro per day per person could also be paid this way. Trips, we took two organised trips, done a half trip to Pompeii this was plenty any longer due to heat would have been to much, we also took a day trip to Vesuvius and Herculaneum, as these sites were close the day was fine. A boat trip to Capri was 75 euro return for two and we could then organise our visit to suit our requirements, food and drink on Capri was expensive but this must be expected. For 8 euro each we purchased a Sita 24 hour bus pass and travelled the Sorrento / Amalfi peninsula at our own leisure. A very good break at a very oood Hotel.
Just returned from a holiday department in Sorrento staying in the Ascot hotel. I could not find fault with any part of the holiday,it was fab from start to finish. The Hotel is clean and basic ,the food is good and the staff are all fabulous, they were all so friendly and made you feel right at home .i shall return😄🇮🇪 Plus the travel dept guide Gerardo was so brilliant at his job ,and a truly nice person which all added to the holiday .
Just had our second stay at Hotel Ascot. The most friendly, family run hotel you could find, they even liked to know that we would return later than usual one night due to a family wedding so they wouldn't worry about us, how lovely. Restaurant is clean and well run by Roberto, super friendly man who asked us how we were after I felt unwell on the first evening after arrival, so considerate. Pool is large enough and always a good choice of sunbeds both in and out of the glorious sunshine. Will definitely return for a third time. Also a short 5 minute walk, all on the flat, to Piazzo Tasso and all of the beautiful surroundings.
We stayed in the hotel for 7 nights half board. The food for dinner on the first 2 nights was very poor and only improved after several complaints to our Travel Department rep. The hotel generally, staff and tours were very good. The meagre and unimaginative food (main was two small slices of wafer thin pork on first night and two small slices of wafer thin lamb on the second) was what we talked about on an otherwise very good holiday. Breakfast was equally unimaginative with identical items every morning and very little attempts to create any variety.
This trip for me was not a holiday in the true sense, as I was in Sorrento for my daughters wedding, however I do have some comments to make on my stay at the Ascot, I was put on the ground floor, so had no view to speak of, the room was clean but very basic and the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the matress and pillows very firm, I was woken up early every morning either by staff starting there buisness (cleaning trolleys) or by guests leaving early, I could hear the phone ringing on occasions at reception. The pool area was fine, but the roof top terrace was very basic, it could easily be improved to become a very nice area, the courtyard area was very nice, I did not think the seating in the two lounge areas was very comfortable, although it looks very smart, all the staff were friendly and helpful, I only had dinner once and breafast three times, so I wont dwell on this much, as that wouldn't be fair, other than to say because the dining area is in the basement, I felt it lacked atmosphere, there are so many nicer places to eat in Sorrento. The Ascot boasts 4 stars on the entrance wall and carpet, I would give it 3 stars myself. I'm glad to say that my daughter was staying in a much nicer hotel.
