Today we leave the Grand hotel President in Sorentto. My mum in laws 15th or 16th visit and my 2nd. What makes this hotel outstanding is the fantastic quality of service, the amazing staff, and of course the panoramic views of Sorentto and Vesuvius. As I've said the staff here are amazing. We were given a very warm welcome and through our visit nothing was too much trouble. The hotel shuttle bus runs regularly and if there are more people returning from the town than seats, Tony made extra journeys. A very safe driver through steep and bendy roads. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful through our stay. Particularly Raphael. The restaurant was good with excellent friendly service. Special mentions for the matre de Antonino, to Antonio, Giovanni, Guissepe, Mena, Francesco, Carmine and of course the chef especially as he catered for gluten free diets as well as delicious food. The bar and terrace bar were again excellent. Good entertainment and again excellent friendly service. Views from the terrace are fantastic. Special mentions to Giovani, Antonio, Joseph and Carmine. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. It's not just us that are returning visitors and the fact that we will be visiting again sums up what a fantastic place this is to spend your holiday. Customer service is very important to us and we have experienced the best here.
If you are reading reviews of this hotel, you must be thinking about booking All I can say is DO IT!!! Can't recommend enough. It truly is a wonderful hotel. Don't be put off by it being on a hill, that's what makes it special. You will eat your meals on the balcony overlooking the bay of Naples and you will never tire of the views. The food at the hotel is first class and during our whole 11 night stay, we were never served the same meal twice. There is a large buffet style breakfast with lots of choice. Lots of lovely choice for evening meals too, all served by wonderful and friendly staff. The hotel runs a courtesy bus into Sorrento (about 10 mins) but we walked down to town via a path which takes 20 mins. The pool is lovely and we never struggled to get a bed and the gardens are lovely for relaxing in. There is so much to see and do in the area - pompeii, Amalfi coast, Positano, Ravello as well as Sorrento itself. We met people at the hotel who were back after many visits and we'll definitely be back too. I wish I was back there now!
What a great experience This hotel lived up to it's billing as 5 stars The location was on a hill outside Sorrento which in turn gave a fabulous view across the town of Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius and the island of Capri in the distance Travel to town was easy a hotel bus was provided at 5 mins each way or you could walk down 15-20 mins and catch the bus back better idea after another brilliant pasta lunch The hotel was as the brochure said clean bright and very welcoming The staff were terrific and accommodating in all aspects throughout the hotel A big mention must be the food and the restaurants The main restaurant was buffet for breakfast and al a carte for main meals The staff were really great at their job and nothing was left to chance The food was out off this world at all times The bar must get a mention as my wife and I did spend a lot off time there The barmen can't remember their names were so attentive and our final bill probably proves that but hey!!! that's what we go on holiday for Being my retirement holiday we both will not forget this holiday for a while and take this opportunity to wish the Manager and all staff at the President all the very best for the future and a very big thanks for everything
Can't wait to revisit this fantastic hotel as part of our 30th wedding anniversary celebrations. Visited it 2 years ago and its the only place we have yearned to go back to. Amazing views, hotel, food and staff. Looking forward to seeing you again Sorrento and Grand President hotel Melanie and Eddie
If you are looking to visit Sorrento, look at this hotel. Yes, it's up the hill, have a look on google, we did and initially had some reservations which were proved totally unfounded because height gives a fantastic and massive advantage over many other hotels -- the views are outstanding! From sunrise to sunset you will not be disappointed. The restaurant level, pool, the bar level and the rooftop all face the bay. You will be blown away. Other reviews mention that the food is very good, it is! The restaurant is great, and outside tables with the full view too. The a-la-carte restaurant is a real treat too. Do try to go at least once on your trip. The team led by Pierre Luigi are marvellous. Winners of Masterchef, I can see why. The chef ensured every course was an experience not to be missed. Where else can you go to get food and service as good as it is here and have panoramic views towards Vesuvius and over Sorrento. A truly great memory. Just as memorable as the views was the level of professional and friendly service. The whole team shone. Regretfully, I don't recall names but I can't give them enough praise. You are on holiday so you want to be impressed, you want to be looked after, you want to have a great time and you want to say 'I love it'. And, we absolutely did. There is a shuttle bus to take you down to Sorrento and picks you up to bring you back, just 5 minutes each way. There was always space and it was always prompt. There's a timetable to keep you right. You can also walk down a path to the town, we did, and it takes about 15-20 minutes and is not too bad at all. Others did walk back up, but we're softer so always got the shuttle bus. There are also taxis in Sorrento and are about €25 each way which is best to know beforehand. We hadn't been to Sorrento before so learnt as we went. The old town was beautiful and not too busy so walking around was easy. Tall buildings and narrow streets give great shade too, you might need it on occasion. Now, trips or tours are always a personal choice so go your own way. We toured Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. We also did the Capri and Anacapri trip. All a must do in our opinion, as is seeing the coast by boat. Regrets? only one! We had only booked for 7 nights! We felt that we didn't have enough time to absorb it all. We feel that we had just settled in and it was time to leave. We will have to wait until the next time :-)
A lovely hotel in so many ways. I would throughtly recommend the room upgrade to one with a view of the bay, Sorrento and Vesuvius. It is a magical sight to wake up to. The service from every member of staff, all the food (we were half board) and the room were excellent. I am sure we will come back at some point. A really lovely hotel.
Set over looking Sorrento, fantastic views. Very clean and comfortable hotel. We stayed in a Superior double with sea views, which was very spacious with a balcony and sitting area. Some rooms at the back of the hotel don't have such views, but there are plenty of relaxing areas around the hotel to enjoy the views, if you want to save money on a room. There is a pool, and a garden, both with sunbeds and a hot tub. The food is first class. A four course evening meal is great, the fish dishes are beautiful. The drinks are a little more than bar prices back home, but you expect to pay more. There is a free courtesy bus into the town which takes about 10 minutes and runs till 11pm. You can walk down into town along a path from the hotel, which takes about 25 minutes downhill, on very hot days it can be a bit mush to walk back, so get the free bus back. The staff are all friendly and are very happy to help you. Will recommend this hotel, its fab.
What can I sat that hasn't already been said? Amazing hotel, superb views, friendly staff.... Just a great place to relax. From the moment we walked in we were treated like part of the family. We had a superior suite overlooking the Bay of Naples. All areas in the hotel are lovely and clean and the quality of food and drinks was fabulous. The a la carte restaurant on the top floor was exquisite... well worth a visit. We went twice in a 4 night stay! Simply an amazing few days away, made super special by the people in the hotel... such a great experience.
We had an excellent sea view room looking over Sorento across the bay to Vesuvius, perfect. The hotel has all we needed, shuttle bus into town, pool and restaurant and roof top bar all sharing the same view. Staff cannot do enough to help and speak English well.
Little to add to comments in previous favourable reviews: Sea view room, hotel facilities, breakfast /dinners and service all excellent. Shuttle bus service very good and essential because of location. Only thing we didn't like was complete dependence on free shuttle bus (Taxi alternative is Euro 25 for a distance of 3km!!!) We went on a Thomson package and all their excursions were, in our view poor value. For example, we went to Herculaneum by local train and cost for two including admissions was Euro32 compared with Euro94 for two on the Thomson excursion. Also many of the Thomson excursions left the hotel early morning, like 7.20am. We are on our holidays and are still in bed at that time.
