Stayed for a week over Easter. 90 minute transfer from Naples airport. The entrance to the hotel is quite unassuming. Our room 356 was massive and was on the pool side. It was clean, spacious and the bed was positioned in the middle of room so you could take advantage of the views. Due to the layout of the hotel, the restaurant and bar was on the top floor to take advantage of the views our room although beautiful was positioned directly under the restaurant which meant once breakfast started at 7 so did the noise of the scraping chairs. I don't want to lie in until 10 when on holiday but equally I don't want to be awake at 7 every day. By the end of the week I was shattered. The food choice was ok, quite a small menu on the half board option. The waiting staff were friendly but only certain staff will seat you so when you walk in you have that hanging around moment where your waiting for someone to come over to you, whilst the normal waiters walk by. I didn't think people made much of an effort for the evening attire, gents in long trousers/jeans but people were overall quite casual. Breakfast choice was good as was lunch. Lunch menu was small but always something you could eat. Views over Sorrento from the restaurant were stunning. Pool area was very quiet, no problems getting a lounger. Pool bar wasn't open neither was the terrace bar. Can't comment on the evening entertainment. Shuttle bus is a good idea and a popular choice. Also walked down which was harder coming back than going down! Overall excellent hotel, the noise from our room slightly ruined it for me. I would stay here but I'd ask for a room further along that didn't have the restaurant above.
We visited here in October 2016, just at the end of the season. The weather was warm enough during the day, but extra layers needed in the evenings. The views over the bay of Naples were fantastic. The service from the staff at the hotel was excellent, including advice on places to visit, the cheapest ways to travel and seeing the best sights whilst avoiding expensive excursions. The free hotel bus vice was very useful, though it was only a 15 minute walk down to the town once we found the right path. Trains to Pompey cost about €4 with around €15 entry fee to Pompey as opposed to €78 for an excursion with the tour company. (So thanks to advice from staff for that.) The food was delicious, with plenty of choice for the fussiest eaters. We noted that the waiters were very patient and entertaining with young children.
Beautiful hotel with very caring staff who met all of our needs. Even leaving early to travel home the restaurant was opened for us with a range of breakfast available at 6am. Couldn't be more pleased!! The hotel shuttle bus was very efficient but the walk into Sorrento was a nice one down cobbled streets in the sunshine about a 25 minute walk. Being away from the main town of Sorrento was no trouble, it provided a quiet sanctuary when at the hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel!!
From the moment we arrived until the minute we left everything about the Hotel was fantastic. All of the staff we encountered we very friendly and 100% professional. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the rooms we spacious. The food was of a high quality and there was a choice for pretty much every palate including vegetarian options, I can't go without mentioning the restaurant and kitchen staff who were superb. There is a shuttle service in to town , but you can walk it if you are feeling fairly fit. It might be a good idea to walk down and have the option of catching the bus back.
We spent 11 days in Sorrento for our honeymoon and the Grand Hotel President was our base. We could not fault anything about the Hotel. Our room was spotless, the food was delicious with plenty of choices and Staff could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much for them. We have fallen in love with Sorrento and will definitely return!
Just spent a week at the Grand Hotel President and it was amazing. The views from the hotel are breathtaking. We had a room at the front of the hotel and it was spacious and spotlessly clean. Balcony was a decent size and although we didn't have spectacular views we did have the afternoon sun. The hotel runs a coach service to Sorrento but the only disappointing part of that was the big gap between runs in middle of day. Driver was lovely and very helpful. We walked down and up a few times too which takes around 20/30 mins. Steep hill so not for the faint hearted. Dining staff are amazing. Very welcoming and friendly and they looked after me well with my gluten free meals. There are lots of places to sit or sunbathe round the pool in the garden or on the roof terrace. All round great accommodation.
Hotel .staff & food were fantasic The view from our room was over the bay & Serrento The walk down to the harbour was breath taking views & we made it back up Sun terrace was peaceful to sit & read have a drink
Currently on day 8 of a birthday getaway at the President with 5 days to go. Good base for a week in Sorrento or to do tours (Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Capri etc.) Booked half-board and Food / Restaurant Staff has been excellent so far both Breakfast and Dinner. Views are easily best in Sorrento and some say Italy. Sea view rooms are definitely worth the premium at this hotel. Hotel slightly out of town but not a problem as regular dedicated bus into / back from town organised by Hotel morning, afternoon and evening. Would definitely recommend and return.
We have just spent a week here and loved it. The staff are all very helpful, the food is amazing and everything is kept clean and tidy. The views will blow you away and you will leave feeling that you have been treated to a piece of heaven on earth.
Do not waste your time with other hotels as this one stands out. The staff are great the view from our room was breathtaking and quality. It is located out of town on the hill but the hotel provides their own coach service into Sorrento and back out on a very regular basis. When we go back we will will again stay at the President.
