The staff was nice, friendly, and check-in was easy. The breakfast was delicious. The Fairfax room in particular was modern with real castle stone exposed in part of the room. As opposed to hotels in the city, this place has a parking lot.

Driving in UK is horrible at best but we found the hotel OK (close to a regular Holilday Inn). Clean, nice rooms, good food, next to good inexpensive (relatively speaking) restaurant.
A perfect introduction for our American family to the English countryside. Situated in an out of the way village, but with quick access to some amazing pubs. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the grounds were absolutely lovely. John cooks an excellent breakfast, too!
The cottage was quaint, clean with all the facilities. However, staff is not available outside of the bar hours. Last day no hot water and when I informed staff on checkout, no real apology.
