There’s really not too much to say that isn’t already reflected in the reviews. The staff were friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. But this place is dated. It could use some serious work just about everywhere. I know you can get passes but the lack of a gym on site is still inconvenient.
This isn't the newest hotel, but they make up for that with friendly staff and comfortable and clean rooms. You have access to a nearby (off-site) gym, there's a pool in the hotel, the breakfast was sufficient and fresh, the rooms were quiet. We were more than satisfied with this stay and would definitely stay here again if we're going through Sioux City.
Pros: Decent location, friendly staff, reasonably quiet. Cons: Older facility that is a candidate for the "next" chain: Red Roof? Also, I was up early - 4am. I found the most remote outside exit propped open by a rock. We can come up with many possible explanations as to how this innocently happened. But in the end: in the dark, at a remote part of the facility, anyone could have entered. The door has an electronic lock. So, the opportunity to monitor its state exists. But either that monitor is broken or no one pays attention to it. And is no one charged with walking the halls once in a while? Maybe Sioux City is the Paris of the midwest and I just don't know it. But if you're merely passing through I recommend either staying in Omaha to the south or Sioux Falls to the north for the increase in value.
Fairfield's motto: You're our #1 priority. We promise you'll be satisfied or we'll make it right. That's our commitment to you. We arrived after a long day of travel and we were tired. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The only problem was, I was awakened after midnight by a loud noise from above. It sounded like there was pounding and jumping. I also heard a dog bark. I called the front desk and the staff member said she would take care of the problem after I explained that the noise woke me. I do not know what she said or did and I do not know if she even did anything, but the noise stopped. Fairfield was true to its motto. Breakfast was average, but after a good night's rest, I was not complaining.
Boyfriend and I stayed here over Christmas to visit family. He stays at Marriott a lot for work and gets points towards free nights, but this was also a really convenient location. We booked 2 nights in advance, and were relieved that they are pet friendly (he has 2 dogs). Room was clean, but the bed wasn't very comfortable and the fitted sheet kept coming off the corners of the bed. We weren't planning on spending much time in the room, so it wasn't a big deal....UNTIL....BF got the stomach flu. I called the front desk to ask if we could check out late, the person I talked to was Extremely polite, said we could stay until 4pm. I explained the situation, she offered to send some bottled water, but I didn't want anyone to catch the flu so I went to the desk instead. They had put together a small care package of tea, honey, lemon juice, a banana, 2 bottles of water, and Tylenol. It was a small gesture, but it was so thoughtful! Later I called again to ask if we could extend our stay to 1 more night, and they were again Very polite when they told us this was just fine. I had to stop by the desk to get the key activated for 1 more day, and the person working was so nice. Working over Christmas isn't fun, so I expected much less than the warm treatment we received.
I've traveled extensively for work and must say walking in the door and getting greeted by Tarrien last night was awesome. Then talking to the ladies this morning at the front desk was pleasant. Rooms were clean and beds were okay. Nice stay for the night. The staff here make your trip and stay here a good experience.
This is a good rest stop. Manda and Sean were wonderful and friendly. Directed us to some good places to eat. The people at the front dest this morning was friendly and so were the two ladies maintaining the breakfast area. It does have a decent pool for families. Some of the hotel looks dirty and dated. The carpet in our room needs to be stretched and the tub is old and looks dirty. I don't feel that the air worked correctly in our room. Over all, we would stop by again.
I wouldn't rule out this property even though our room had several issues. The air conditioner leaked water onto the carpet, toilet ran on and off all night and there was a definite smell of smoke in the room. When we were leaving after our one night stay, the manager asked if there was anything they could do regarding a miles refund to our account. Even though we didn't want that, the next day we received an email from her as well as Marriott telling us that we would receive a refund for our stay and that they would not rent that room until the items were all taken care of. That speaks volumes to us that a company actually listened to our concerns. Therefore, we would go back if we were ever in that area again.
Fairfield Inns have been consistently good for us in our travels. The front desk staff at the Sioux City Fairfield were especially friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in their clientele. We were there just after Hurricane Harvey and we noted the boxes of bed linens lined up in the hall waiting for a pick up to take to the hurricane victims. (Thank you!) The room was clean, the free breakfast good - hot items fresh and large selection of breakfast breads.
Fairfield Inn was a nice surprise. Very clean and the staff is very friendly. Great breakfast buffet option. They are located so close to shopping in Morningside I like to walk several miles each morning and the location of the hotel made it conducive to walk through some nice neighbordhoods not far from hotel.
