Village Hotel Bugis

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Easy access to anywhere in Singapore by Metro. Bugis station is 5 min walking away.

Just a short walk from mrt, the surrounding offer different ambience compared to the busy shopping feel of Orchard. Many nice cafe at night in the area to eat or just to do sisha-ing

Close to bugis station, Kind staff, But old bed and interier

Decent room with relatively new look. Hotel is well-equipped with restaurant and pool. Within reasonable proximity to MRT.

The hotel wanted to transfer me to a very remote new hotel at 12pm when I arrived, telling me that the room I booked was full, even mentioning I didnt need to pay extra and could transfer me back the following day if I wished. I only had one day and two nights in Singapore then. After I refused their offer and asked to talk to hotel manager, the staff replied that they found one more empty room as I booked...... The room is quite neat and clean, but no sofa or armchair, only a desk and deskchair. Nightstands are very far from bed, so you need to rise and reach the switch on the side of nightstands. The whole hotel is scented, but just now my flavor. Very good location, close to Little India and just a couple of minutes away from Bugis station, where there are plenty of shopping mall, complex and small shops. All in all, I dont think I will stay there again or recommend to any of my friends to stay if being asked.

The staff at the hotel did everything to make the stay very pleasant. The breakfast included with the room leaves a lot to be desired, lacks variety and imagination

This hotel location is very close SMRT, Bugis Junction, Arab Street, Golden Mile, Mustafa Centre, Sim Lim Square, Waterloo Centre, Raffles City and everything else in between. Restaurant is everywhere close by. Eventhough the hotel is quite old, we don't mind staying here again on our next trip.

The rooms were comfortable but no where to find time(clock radio, etc. The hotel entrance and lobby has an overwhelming scent of incense which could give one a headache if not used to it. I noticed that front desk staff were not very cordial to some customers. I was left alone for several minutes without explanation while they confirmed the [...] confirmation I showed them. I thought they had forgotten and when they did come back to me, they were less than enthusiastic.

Golden Landmark is an older building built before the modern Marina Bay projects and hotels. It shows its age in the carpets and general condition of the rooms. The TV's are updated however the basics of the room are reflective of simple design and furnishings. The bed was firm and sheets soft, the air conditioning was good however my room would not allow the cold water to shut down in the AC air handler so the room fan off stayed somwhat cool in the late nite hours. Overall a good stay at a lower price than much of Singapore hotels all within close proximity to the MRT transit and Marina/Raffels complex and a short ride to Orchard Road.

I am a frequent business traveler and this was the worst experience I've ever had. Had a late check-in (midnight) and no one was around at the front desk so I had to wait a long time. Had to request a new room because neighbors were having a party in their room. The hotel itself is very old and doesn't have anything nice. The carpet was full of stains (eeww). The shower was tricky to work because it was so old. The breakfast and the breakfast hall is very ugly and looked dirty - not a pleasant place to eat. Everything was just a mess and I strongly urge you not to stay here. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

This hotel has a perfect location for new visitors, especially for those stopping over before the cruise like we did. Our group of 16 people had a nice time going to shopping places, because it's walking distance to rhe market and "The Bugis" where people went back so many times until night time to shop for reasonable souvenirs and other items. The lobby staff as well as the bell boys were very helpful and friendly. There is a travel and tour place at the lobby that you can purchase tour tickets for everything. They are very accomodating. I will recommend this hotel for travelers who will be going on cruises, staying one or two nights before the cruise. It is also accessible to different eating places for reasonable prices. Not bad, good value for money. Allow about 25 sgdollars to get from airport. i'd stay again. not the closest to the shopping strip though close enough i guess.

In town for three days, and attracted by Landmark's price, pool, and location. Unfortunately, the room we were in had ants, the maid didn't replace the towels s/he had taken away after service, and the hotel queue never had taxis during peak hours. In general, it seems like there are staff that really do care, and some managers who turn a blind eye to things that need to be improved. I recommend paying a little bit more staying somewhere else.

The service was the best. This was a wonderful experience.

Hotel staff was very friendly, the bed was hard and the carpet had black stains. The location was walking distance to restaurants and shopping malls. Very easy to get around but bring your nice walking shoes. The Mustafa center was open 24 hrs, but hard to get a taxi back to the hotel so walked about 1 mile at 11PM which was no problem very safe.

1st day gave us 2 twin beds even though reserved for king bed, they said it is subject to availability.2nd day changed room but again gave us smoking room.

My husband and I stayed in a standard room for 5 nights- compared to most of the hotels around, we got a very reasonable price for our room. A mini-fridge, iron, and hairdryer were included in the room, with free bottled water. While the hotel itself is old, and the elevators are slow (it's a busy, tall building), our room was modern with the exception of cracked tiles in the bathroom. It was very quiet, and the maids always came quickly if we put the "please clean" door hanger outside the room. We had window views of the pool, the marina/Singapore Flyer, and many large buildings, which was neat to see at night. The pool is mostly in the shade during the day, but there are plenty of places on the deck to lie in the sun, and the pool was very refreshing after walking around all day. The staff was mostly helpful and friendly, very polite. There is an tour office on the lobby floor, we were able to bargain passes to the Zoo and Night Safari much cheaper than what we were quoted originally. If you're up for it, we toured Chinatown to Little India to Clarkes Quay, all by walking from the hotel (all good walks). Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and would stay again!

Perfect Location, Rooms need an update

The room was fairly nice and the staff was mostly helpful, and while the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner it wasn't too bad really. But the breakfast buffet was pretty horrible, not much selection, and what was there was slightly burnt, or barely cooked. Not to mention that, especially in a hotel w/ things like marble wall tile, slightly sticky plastic tablecloths is just tacky... you'd probably be better off walking to the McDonald's down the road.

In the heart of downtown Signapore we found very friendly staff, many services troughout the building (tour agency, restaurant and other casual dining, retail, close to hospital and shopping venues, short ride from the airport, minutes away from the Signapore Flyer and the Cruise Ship Port) We will definately stay there on our next trip. We had a red eye flight from Beijing to Signapore and arrived at the hotel at 7:00 AM. We asked if there was any way we could check in to the room as soon as it was available and we were given a friendly "YES, your room is all ready". We were immediately taken to our room which had all amenities ready for us.
