While the AmericInn in Silver Bay is very nicely situated near the water and close to many State Parks, I found it to be lacking in cleanliness. Over the course of our 3 night stay we found a pair of dirty black socks in our room, used candy wrappers, food waste on the floor, and stains on the sheets. The overall construction of the room was nice, but the TLC was lacking. Additionally, some of the light fixtures flickered on and took time to turn on, and the drain in the shower was fairly slow leading to a backup of water after a few minutes.
Property was very clean and in good condition. Price was great.

Great indoor pool and waterslides. View of Lake Superior was nice. Close to several beautiful lake beaches. Common areas outside and inside were clean and we'll kept, the flowers outside were very pretty. The room itself was good, however could have used a touch of maintenance as the faucet for the tub was missing it's caulking. The beds were supportive and clean, but very firm. We appreciated the microwave and fridge in the room. Breakfast area had all the standard hotel breakfast fare and included a well stocked coffee bar with flavored creamers and syrups. I thought it was a nice option to have a freezer in the lobby with ice cream and frozen microwave meals, like baked ziti, for sale; as there's not a ton of food options near the hotel. Check in and check out were easy and quick.
Great hotel — very family friendly! The kids loved the pool (and the grown ups loved the steam room). Good breakfast, nice views of the lake, and a great location for exploring the north shore.

Quiet room with very nice complete breakfast. Air conditioning was not overly noisy as in some motels.
