The Good Stay Segevold Spa Hotel is located in an ugly industrial quarter, behind a gas station along the highway in the outskirts of Sigulda. The neighbourhood is, mildly spoken, not very charming. In the nearby Sigulda – less than a kilometre away – there are plenty of cosy and romantic small hotels located in or near the many down town parks. We chose the “Good Stay Spa Hotel” because we wanted to spend an hour or two in the Spa area, which is advertised in the many presentations of the hotel on the booking portals (e.g. Booking.com and on TripAdvisor). We were seriously disappointed to learn that the spa is not accessible during the day, but only two hours in the morning between 9 and 11 am. We learned that we could not have an afternoon relaxing spa before our dinner in the restaurant. We told the front desk staff, that we selected the Good Stay Segevold Spa Hotel because of its spa facilities. We also told, that we have looked forward to use the facilities when we arrived after a long day on the road. The woman in the reception kindly offered to “turn on” the spa in the late afternoon. However, this effort was completely in vain. The young and friendly, but completely unexperienced, staff member at the front desk then informed us that due to electrical problems it was not possible to heat the whirlpool and pool. And frankly who wants to sit in cold whirlpool? So we had to skip the spa experience at a spa hotel – can you imagine? And who runs a spa hotel without making bathrobes available in the room. It says a lot, doesn’t it? So in fact, the so-called “Good Stay Spa Hotel” is not really a spa hotel. They offer the facilities, but they do not work properly. It looks good on photos, but that’s all…! Advertising this lodging house as a spa hotel is a total joke. And even worse, It is close to a lie and on the edge of misleading potential customers. The Good Stay Segevold Spa Hotel was a disappointing experience, and the hotel did not meet our expectations. Having said that, the rooms are spacious – but not with a view. The restaurant is all right and the kitchen about average. The portions, however, are tiny – like half portions. A young waitress – Linda – makes the restaurant worth visiting. She was extremely attentive; service minded and demonstrated a unique empathy and dedication to the guests. We hope she is paid well, because she really makes a difference and lifts the impression of this “spa hotel”. In the end, it adds up to an average, 2-3 star provincial hotel. Not, in any way, an exclusive spa experience. Not even close to a 4 star.
Even the area where the hotel is located in looks like an industrial area, the hotel is pretty inside. Rooms and facilities are very new and large. Free Spa in the morning from 9-11 and delicious breakfast. The Wifi was not working even after asking the lady from the counter. Free parking outside
Situated in a rather ugly industrial surroundings. The hotel itself is modern and comfortable. A spacious room. Friendly and quick check-in. An unfortunate mistake at the reception ad the receptionist gave an extra key card in our room to another customer! It was deeply apologized. A slow service in the restaurant. Rather small, but tadty portions. An ordinary buffet breakfast. Not a good choice, if you want to explore Sigulda by walking. A few kilometers to walk.
My rating would be nearly perfect if the hotel would have been qualified a standard 3* hotel, but to qualify that as a 4* star - it is ridiculous. Nothing was there like in a 4* hotel. The a/c in the room made horrible noise, the towels were frayed, the bed was very uncomfortable. The receptionist did not say Hello in the morning, just looked at us. If a 4 star hotel has a spa, it should also have bathrobes in the room. Why to offer a minibar service and have the pricelist in the room when the minibar is empty?! You did not feel welcome there. OK, maybe at the breakfast the waitress was more friendly than the others. Breakfast was a standard one, nothing special. Spa was ok, saunas very good. The rooms were spacious and also the bathrooms.
Very bad service...greedy personal and ovner. Tried to change a date for reservation but they asked for full priece. This is not how it works in tourism buisness. I had similar situations with SPA in other countries for example France, Hungary and Ireland allways have offered some sollutions, half priece or dates out of season... but not to make an reservation again for a full priece.
Segevold hotel is not far from the main road. This is not the hotel you're looking for if you want to reach Siguldas sightseeings by walking. Nice large rooms with balcony. Good parking in the courtyard. Weak breakfast. Long check in due to unprofessianality of the staff
Stayed here in August 2016 whilst doing a 10,000 mile camper van trip through Europe, once we got into Latvia we decided to take a break from the camper van as we passed this hotel and and booked on booking website... Easy to check in no fuss with a polite receptionist, ample parking out the front and behind as it is slightly removed out on the edge of town near a main road. We ate in the restaurant that night, could not fault the food or service provided by the team there. We had full use of the spa facilities which were pretty much to ourselves as there were only a couple of other guests. Overall I have stayed in many hotels across the world and I would happily recommend this one and its spa facilities. the only negative is that it may not be value for money in terms of the rest of Latvia but it is compared to its English counterparts.
My wife and I just had a meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent, well prepared, tasty and well served. More people should try this restaurant, its just out of the centre on the main road through Sigulda. I can recommend the fish soup a meal in itself.
The room we got had an air conditioner that wasn't working. When we asked at the front desk they did provide a fan, however, on the unusually hot day it was quite uncomfortable in our room until late in the evening when the breeze through the window helped. They weren't very helpful or accommodating to our warm room and seemed rather indifferent to helping. We did have a wonderful meal in the restaurant though.
It was a normal stay until 1 o clock in the morning. Suddently the air condition started with a terrible noise.i switched it of but the noise was still there. I recorded it with my phone and called the reception. She told me that happened sometimes and normally she has a room to switch but not tonight - booked out! But she offered us the conference room until 6 because then she needed the room.😆 we decided to stay in the room. We tried to sleep but the noise didnt stop and came every minute again and again - so annoying! Our junior suite had a small entrance room. We closed the door and tried to sleep their on the ground. It was not so loud anymore but still not possible to sleep. The next day the woman on the reception told me to write a letter to the manager to explain everything to get the money back. No response although i wrote other 2 mails. Dont book this hotel you can be the next! 😆
