I've been twice before at Christmas, see previous review. It seems to have gone downhill a bit. Bed made up with plastic sheet below bottom sheet (like hospital bed) rather than under mattress cover. Ordered Telegraph, got Sun! Ordered soup and roll for lunch, waited 45mins for soup, further few minutes for spoon, then finished soup before roll arrived. Ordered a port, remarked only cheap variety - response "it's a cheap hotel". Gala dinner - no water glasses, no spoons for soup, no knives for cheese. HOWEVER, staff as usual very friendly, very helpful, just mostly untrained. Children allowed to bang away on grand piano in lounge all evening, Ugh.
Just want to say a big thank you to all the hardworking staff here at the holiday inn. We have once again had a superb evening of food, dancing and good service. We stayed over and the rooms are lovely and comfortable. Probably need a re-furb in the non too distant future but that may be reflected in the package price! Be careful what you wish for....Staff go out of their way to be helpful, pleasant and cheery. The breakfast this morning was spot on. Can't say enough good things about it. Thanks again all and happy new year. We'll be back soon.
Absolutely fantastic hotel, close to everything you need and on the door step of telford town park. Room are great and family's well catered for. Swimming pool and sauna something you would expect from this type of hotel
I booked this for my wife wile I was overseas. As an aside, for anyone who is not, I recommend joining up with the IHG membership scheme. I was in Riyadh and because they have all my details booking the room was super quick and easy. As she does not do the Trip Advisor thing my wife asked me to forward her review because she was so very impressed with the place and wanted to give positive public feed back. Travelling with 2 children she dropped in because they were snow bound. The spa is in pristine condition and has a luxury feel. The room and communal areas are to an equally high standard. Reception and all other staff were superb. The breakfast and restaurant was equally faultless. As a family we stay in about 8 Holiday Inn / IHG hotels a year and according to my wife this one was by far he best.
Great little hotel. Stayed there on a business trip to the international centre, so a very convenient location. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were great. A good sized swimming was a bonus.
We stayed here from Tuesday till Thursday and I left with my back full of Bed Bugs bites was itchy all weekend. Have stayed all over the world and never got them expect this week. I don’t have a problem with the staff and overall of the hotel but I just cannot give a positive review. I know it’s not the staffs fault but bugs, no.
Me and my friend stayed here last night after attending the UKPPC at the International Centre. The location was absolutely perfect. We could easily walk to the International Centre as it was right next to the Holiday Inn. As guests, we could also park at the Holiday Inn while attending the event. Check in was 2pm and the UKPPC started at 3pm so we arrived just after 2.30pm to check in. Our room wasn’t actually ready, however the receptionist kindly moved us to a room that was ready. Our room, room 39, was a twin room. It was a good sized room with two double beds, which were very comfortable. I’m allergic to feathers, and they had ensured that the bedding was not feather bedding. The en suite bathroom was lovely. Very spacious and modern. Plenty of towels and toilet rolls were provided. Two face cloths were provided, along with a bar of soap and two glasses. Hand gel was also provided by the sink. The shower was in the bath, and was easy to operate. Body and hair gel was provided in a container on the wall by the bath. Non slip strips and hand rails were provided in the bath for safety. Free wifi was provided, and a large tv with freeview channels was provided for entertainment. Both the wifi and the tv worked well. An ironing board was also provided, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The room was a comfortable temperature - not too hot and not too cold. There was a good choice of hot and cold items for breakfast, including cheeses, meats, porridge, cereals, eggs, bacon, mushrooms and hash browns. The only thing missing was black pudding. I found the breakfast to be very tasty. A three course meal was also included in our room price. There was a good choice of items to choose from. I chose the broccoli and stilton tart as my starter, the risotto for my main, and a mango sorbet for pudding. It was very tasty, particularly the risotto, which also came with garlic bread. There was a good choice of wine too, including a delicious dessert wine. We paid just under £95 for our room, breakfast and evening meal - excellent value for money. The staff were also very friendly - both the reception staff and the restaurant staff. We will certainly be back during next year’s UKPPC, and I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
I have stayed at Holiday Inns all over the world. This has just made me decide never to stay at a Holiday Inn again, unless I absolutely have to. Upon entering the room there was always a damp musty smell. The toilet did not flush effectively and the shower was not powerful at all. Friday night into Saturday morning was fine. A good nights sleep followed by a good breakfast. At that point they were 8/10, even with the smell and the shower. Saturday night: loads of resident noise from adjoining rooms until the early hours meant not much sleep for me. Sunday morning: a queue out of the restaurant when I needed to leave early. I missed breakfast and got a paltry £10 refund. In a Premier Inn, I would have got at least one night refunded (Holiday Inns, take note), for not getting a good nights sleep. All in all, just awful and won’t be rushing back to a hotel that does not understand the basic needs of its guests. SCB.
I believe that the hotel has improved since my last stay, a year ago. The breakfast (always good) was as good as ever, with the scrambled eggs being refreshed at intervals and the buffet well-stocked. Coffee was plentiful. I took a light dinner one evening and that was good value: a colleague tucked into a mammoth steak and vegetables, and clearly enjoyed it. I confess that I am not much of a drinker; and so I did not use the (very busy) bar. Currently having a mobility problem I was delighted to be given (unasked) a ground floor room with its bathroom adapted for disabled users: that was both helpful and kind, which summarises accurately the attitude of the staff, throughout. Thank you
Stayed here for trade shoe at international centre. Easy parking included for duration. Room clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice to be had and staff topped tea up several times!!
